"Can I tell you something?" Lila asked, her voice soft, tinged with hesitation.
"Sure," Alex replied, his eyes briefly flicking to her before returning to the road.
"It's… strange," she began carefully. "Being around you like this. Makes it easy to forget everything else for a while. Makes me… reckless."
Alex's brow lifted slightly, curiosity flickering in his gaze. "Reckless?"
She gave a small, almost shy smile. "Yeah. I catch myself leaning closer than I should, saying things I wouldn't normally… feeling things I shouldn't."
Her hand rested lightly on the center console, fingertips brushing his casually, almost accidentally.
Alex's forearm tensed subtly beneath her touch, but he didn't pull away. His jaw tightened imperceptibly, and she caught the faint rise and fall of his breath... controlled, yet betraying the smallest hint of reaction.
