CTS Time RE 250.01.02 – 2:30 PM
After some much-needed rest, the atmosphere inside the spacecraft had finally lightened. Blaze, his usual stoic expression softened slightly, moved towards the storage unit in the corner of the control room, taking out a few pre-packed lunch containers. The soft hiss of the dispenser echoed in the quiet cabin.
He carried the warm food packets into the common area, where Bolt was still sprawled lazily on the floor, his arms behind his head, gazing up at the ceiling as if lost in thought. Rose, now sitting on the edge of her bed, had regained a bit of color in her cheeks after Blaze's earlier treatment. A small smile tugged at her lips as she watched him enter.
Blaze placed the packets on the table, unsealing them carefully. The aroma of the food filled the cabin, a comforting scent amidst the cold sterility of space. For the first time in what felt like forever, there was a sense of normalcy.
"Finally," Bolt muttered as he sat up, rubbing his hands together eagerly. "I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about food."
Blaze smirked faintly and tossed a packet towards him. "I'd never hear the end of it if I did."
Rose giggled softly as she took her share, savoring the warmth against her palms. As they ate, the silence of space outside was a stark contrast to the lively activity visible through the viewport. Small and large spaceships zipped by, their hulls reflecting the distant light of nearby stars. In the distance, floating cities, both grand and humble, drifted through space—some shimmering with golden lights, while others remained dark and ominous. Transparent walkways stretched between space stations, where people strolled peacefully, seemingly untouched by the chaos Blaze and his team had just escaped.
Rose gazed at the breathtaking sight outside, her voice thoughtful. "It's so peaceful out there… like nothing bad ever happens."
Blaze followed her gaze but said nothing, his eyes reflecting something deeper—something heavy.
As they continued eating, Rose suddenly looked at Blaze with a determined expression. "I want to become strong like you, Blaze."
Blaze paused, swallowing a bite before raising an eyebrow at her. "Oh really?" he said, a hint of amusement in his voice. "Okay, I'll train you."
Bolt perked up instantly, his mouth still half-full. "I want to be strong too!" he chimed in enthusiastically, pointing at himself. "Not just book-smart, but actual muscle!"
Blaze chuckled softly, shaking his head. "You? Training? We'll see about that."
After finishing their meal, Blaze stood up and gathered the empty packets. "Alright, I'll take these to the kitchen. You two rest up."
He walked out of the room, leaving Rose and Bolt sitting in comfortable silence. The hum of the spacecraft filled the air once again, and Rose's eyes drifted towards the sword Blaze had left on the floor—a weapon that had unleashed destruction mere hours ago.
She stared at it, curiosity and admiration swirling in her chest. Can I really become like him? A sword master?
Tentatively, she stood up and approached it, reaching out carefully. As her fingers wrapped around the hilt, she immediately felt its immense weight. Her arms trembled under the strain, and she could barely lift it an inch off the floor before it clattered down with a heavy thud.
Before she could try again, a voice startled her.
"What are you doing?"
Rose jumped slightly, turning around quickly to see Blaze standing in the doorway, his arms crossed, his expression unreadable but clearly aware of what she had just attempted.
"I-I was just… I mean…" Rose stammered, stepping back hesitantly, her eyes darting to the floor. Her heart pounded as she felt a wave of embarrassment creeping in.
Blaze tilted his head, watching her closely before walking over. He picked up the sword effortlessly, spinning it once in his hand with practiced ease. "This sword isn't just heavy," he said, his tone gentler than she expected. "It carries more than just weight... it carries responsibility, discipline, and pain."
Rose bit her lip, looking down. "I just... I thought maybe if I could lift it, I could... be like you."
Blaze sighed, placing the sword back in its sheath. "Strength isn't just about lifting a weapon, Rose. It's about knowing when to use it... and when not to."
Bolt, watching from the sidelines, nodded sagely. "Yeah, and I prefer not to," he muttered, earning a glare from Rose.
Blaze smirked slightly. "Don't worry. If you're serious, I'll make sure you learn it the right way."
Rose smiled shyly, nodding in determination. "I will."
Blaze nodded, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder before heading back to the control room, leaving Rose staring after him with a newfound resolve burning in her heart.
Inside the dimly lit spacecraft, the soft hum of the engines created a soothing ambiance. Blaze leaned against the headboard of the large bed, patting the mattress with a rare smile. "Rose, Bolt—come here. I'll tell you a story."
Bolt, rubbing his eyes sleepily, perked up with a grin. "A story? What kind?" He climbed onto the bed without hesitation. Rose, still cautious but intrigued, settled down on the other side of Blaze, folding her arms under her head.
Blaze smirked, lying back with his arms behind his head. "This story... is about me."
Rose's eyes widened slightly, curiosity sparking within her. It was rare for Blaze to talk about his past, and she leaned in just a little, eager to listen.
"I wasn't always this strong," Blaze began, his voice distant as if lost in memory. "I come from a planet where sword fighting wasn't just a skill—it was everything. Blading tournaments were the heartbeat of our culture. Everyone built their own swords and fought to prove their strength and honor. But me? I didn't have a sword."
Bolt blinked. "No sword? But you're, like, the best swordsman ever!"
Blaze chuckled softly. "Hard to believe, right? Back then, I was just a kid. Fifteen years old. And it had already been four years since I lost my sister... Four years of feeling powerless, of searching for something that could fill the emptiness inside me."
His eyes darkened slightly, the pain of the past still lingering beneath his composed exterior. "One day, I was wandering in the forest. That's when I found it—this sword you see now. Venom Devolos."
Rose glanced at the black sword resting against the wall, its aura seemingly pulsing even in the quiet room.
Blaze continued, his tone laced with a strange mix of pride and regret. "With Devolos in my hands, I rose quickly. I defeated every challenger in the tournament and became the champion of Diamond championship tournament. But… victory felt hollow after a while. There was no one left to challenge me. So, I left my home and joined a group... They called themselves merchants, but in truth, they were smugglers. Selling stolen goods, illegal deals—you name it, we did it."
Bolt frowned, sitting up slightly. "You? Doing illegal stuff? No way!"
Blaze sighed. "Sometimes, when you feel lost, you'll do anything to fill the void inside."
Rose's expression softened. She could see it in his eyes—the weight he carried, the choices he regretted.
Blaze suddenly shifted gears. "Do you remember Arthur?" he asked.
Bolt nodded eagerly. "Yeah! You already took him down. But… are there other swords like Devolos out there?"
A flicker of interest crossed Blaze's face. "Yeah... Maybe there are." He paused for a moment before continuing. "I discovered something about my planet's history—there are nine legendary swords, including Devolos. Each one possesses unique powers, said to be forged from celestial fragments that fell from the stars."
Bolt's eyes widened with excitement. "Whoa, that's amazing!" He grinned. "Imagine collecting all of them!"
Rose, listening intently, found her mind drifting. If I could find one of those swords... could I become like Blaze? Could I protect the people I care about?
She glanced down at her hands, clenching them lightly. Determination flared in her heart.
Blaze, sensing her thoughts, glanced at her with a knowing smirk. "Thinking of getting one for yourself, huh?"
Rose's face turned red, and she looked away quickly. "N-No! I was just… curious."
Blaze chuckled, ruffling her hair gently. "It takes more than a legendary sword to become strong, Rose. But... with the right training, maybe one day, you'll wield a blade worthy of your name."
Rose smiled softly, feeling a new sense of purpose growing within her.
The room fell into a comfortable silence. The vastness of space outside their viewport stretched endlessly, dotted with floating cities and bustling space stations. People walked along transparent space roads, unaware of the destruction Blaze had left behind just hours ago.
For now, though, in this quiet moment, it was just the three of them—resting, dreaming, and for once, feeling like everything was normal.
RE250.01.02 4:15 PM
Blaze sat up from the bed, the soft hum of the spacecraft filling the room. His gaze shifted to Rose and Bolt, still peacefully sleeping beside him, their faces finally at ease after everything they had been through. For a brief moment, he allowed himself to smile. But deep down, his thoughts were heavy.
As he left the room quietly, walking through the dimly lit corridors of the spacecraft, his mind replayed the earlier destruction he had caused. Every time I think about my sister... I lose control, he thought, clenching his fists. The memory of his rage—the way his emotions took over, how the city burned in his fury—haunted him. I can't let it happen again.
He entered the control room, sitting down in the pilot's chair with a heavy sigh. The holographic screens flickered to life around him, displaying data on their location. He typed swiftly, scanning the star maps. They had reached a new sector, and just a little further ahead, a massive structure loomed on the display—the Universal Gateway, marking the beginning of the International Universal Highway, an intergalactic trade route teeming with activity.
Blaze leaned back, staring at the map. "If I want to control Devolos perfectly... I need training. I need discipline," he muttered to himself. His fingers tapped the edge of the console thoughtfully. "I can't afford to destroy everything in my path every time I get angry."
His gaze hardened with determination. "And Rose and Bolt... They need to become stronger too. If I can train them, if we work together... We'll be unstoppable." He smirked slightly, a rare glint of hope in his eyes. "A trio. That's my goal."
Looking outside the viewport, Blaze saw the bustling expanse of space. The area was alive with countless spacecraft of various designs, darting in and out of floating cities and glowing space stations. Giant transparent walkways stretched across the void, filled with people moving about their lives, oblivious to the battles and struggles taking place beyond their safe havens. Neon lights illuminated the cities, creating a mesmerizing view.
Blaze exhaled slowly. He steered the spacecraft towards the nearby Spacehub, where traffic was dense but manageable. The hub was a colossal structure orbiting a dying star, serving as a pit stop for travelers, merchants, and bounty hunters alike. It was the perfect place to gather information, refuel, and plan their next move.
Satisfied with the course set, Blaze stood up, stretching his arms before heading back to the quarters. He entered quietly, looking at Bolt sprawled out on his stomach, snoring softly, and Rose curled up against a pillow, breathing steadily. He couldn't help but feel responsible for them now.
"Hey," Blaze said, nudging Bolt lightly on the shoulder. "Wake up, you lazy sack."
Bolt groaned, rubbing his eyes. "Huh...? What's going on?"
Blaze chuckled and turned to Rose, gently shaking her. "Get up, Rose. We're going out for dinner tonight."
Rose blinked groggily, sitting up. "Dinner...?" She yawned, then winced slightly, still sore from her injuries. "Where?"
Blaze smirked. "At a restaurant in the Spacehub. So move fast. We're not eating rations tonight."
Bolt's eyes lit up. "A real restaurant? Finally!" He jumped up from the bed excitedly. "I'm starving!"
Rose stretched with a small smile. "That sounds... nice."
As they hurried to freshen up, Blaze leaned against the doorframe, watching them. For a moment, everything felt normal. They were just a group of friends heading out for a meal, not warriors fighting for survival.
At least for tonight... we can pretend we're just normal people.
The spacecraft settled into the docking bay with a soft hum, the parking lot bustling with activity. As Blaze, Rose, and Bolt stepped onto the transparent floor, they were met with a lively scene. Children played with robotic pets, their laughter echoing through the air. Families strolled around, enjoying the beautifully illuminated hotspot, while space travelers moved briskly between stores and food stalls. In the center of the plaza stood a massive holographic display, glowing with only two letters: H and D.
Rose, curious as always, tilted her head. "Blaze, what does 'H and D' mean?" she asked, touching the bandages still covering parts of her face.
Blaze glanced at the display and smirked. "It stands for Hyperion Defenders. This place is guarded by some pretty cool heroes. Since we're near the corner of the universe, it's a hotspot for travelers and traders, but it's also a dangerous region. These guys keep it safe."
Rose nodded thoughtfully. "I see... That makes me feel a little better."
Bolt, who had been looking around eagerly, chimed in. "So, uh... where are we gonna eat?"
Blaze pointed toward a grand entrance ahead, a tall archway glowing with neon colors. "Over there. But first... let's do some shopping. I think you need some new clothes, Bolt."
Bolt's eyes widened with excitement. "Oh, really? Thank you so much, Blaze!" He practically bounced as they walked toward the shopping mall, Rose laughing at his enthusiasm.
The shopping mall was like a city of its own, with multilevel stores, floating advertisements, and holographic models showcasing the latest fashion trends for travelers and adventurers alike. Holographic guides floated through the air, directing shoppers to different sections, while upbeat music filled the atmosphere.
Blaze looked around, slightly distracted by the floating images of glamorous models wearing stylish yet practical space gear. For a brief moment, he found himself staring at an advertisement featuring a sleek, armored jacket, only to snap out of it when Rose elbowed him gently.
"You're getting distracted, aren't you?" Rose teased with a small smile.
Blaze coughed awkwardly. "Uh, just... checking out the tech, that's all." He cleared his throat. "Anyway, Rose, why don't you check out the accessories section? You know, since... well, you like that kind of stuff."
Rose's eyes lit up, clearly delighted. "You're right, I do!" She hurried off towards a section displaying ornate earrings, bracelets, and hair accessories with shimmering cosmic designs.
Meanwhile, Bolt was busy rummaging through a rack of jackets, excitedly pulling out colorful options. He held up a bright orange one with a silver lining. "What do you think, Blaze? Do I look like a galactic hero in this?"
Blaze crossed his arms and smirked. "You look more like a walking hazard sign."
Bolt pouted and put it back, before settling on a sleek black jacket with red stripes. "This one's cool and practical!" he declared proudly.
After picking up a few other essentials—utility belts, boots, and gloves—Blaze turned to see Rose trying on a pair of star-shaped earrings, examining herself in the mirror. For a moment, Blaze felt a warm sense of normalcy wash over him.
"You should get those," he said with a nod. "They suit you."
Rose smiled softly, feeling a sense of belonging she hadn't felt in a long time. "Thanks, Blaze. It feels nice to... do normal things like this."
After shopping, they made their way to the food section, eventually finding a cozy restaurant with a view of the bustling docking area. They took a table near the window, watching various spacecraft come and go.
The restaurant had a warm, inviting atmosphere, with glowing orbs hanging from the ceiling and holographic menus floating at each table. Blaze leaned back in his chair, taking a deep breath. "Feels good to sit down and relax."
Rose nodded. "Yeah... it's been a while since we've had a proper meal like this."
Bolt, already scanning the menu, grinned. "I'm ordering the biggest meal they have!"
Blaze chuckled. "Don't overdo it. We still have to fly tomorrow."
As they ate, Blaze realized something—living with friends, sharing these moments, it was something he had almost forgotten the value of. Between battles, chases, and struggles, these quiet times were rare and precious.
"Hey," Blaze said, looking at Rose and Bolt. "I think... this is the best part of our journey."
Bolt, with his mouth full, gave a thumbs-up. "Yeah... food makes everything better."
Rose laughed, nodding in agreement. "I think what he means is, we're glad to have you, Blaze."
After finishing their meals, Blaze purchased some extra food packets for their travels, making sure they had enough supplies. As they walked back to their spacecraft, the atmosphere felt lighter, as if they had managed to leave their burdens behind—if only for a little while.
As they stepped onto the ramp of their ship, Blaze glanced at Rose and Bolt. "Alright, let's get moving. We've got a long journey ahead."
Bolt grinned. "Yeah, but at least we're well-fed and well-dressed now!"
Blaze smiled faintly. Maybe having them around makes all the difference.
Stepping outside the grand entrance of the shopping complex, Blaze, Rose, and Bolt shared a laugh, their spirits light after an enjoyable evening. The cool air of the floating city brushed against their faces, and the vibrant lights of the endless skyscrapers above twinkled like stars in the artificial sky.
Blaze stretched his arms, glancing around. "Let's take a rest over there," he said, pointing to a lush, well-maintained garden nearby.
Bolt grinned. "Okay, let's go!" He took off excitedly but was quickly stopped by Blaze.
"Hey, run slowly," Blaze warned with a smirk.
As they walked towards the garden, Blaze's sharp eyes caught something around Rose's neck. The delicate light blue diamond necklace she had chosen during their shopping trip glowed faintly under the streetlights, reflecting the soft hues of her eyes. Blaze found himself admiring it.
"That necklace suits you," he said casually. "The color... it's just like your shining, beautiful eyes."
Rose's cheeks flushed pink, a rare moment of vulnerability surfacing. She averted her gaze slightly, fiddling with the pendant. "Th-thank you, Blaze," she mumbled shyly.
Blaze hesitated before asking, "I don't know if I should ask this... but, have you ever been in love?"
Rose's expression softened, her eyes gazing into the distance. "I... I don't know," she said softly. "Maybe yes, maybe no. Or maybe... I did fall in love, but I don't even know if that person is still alive… or if they even remember me."
Blaze remained silent, sensing the depth of emotions hidden beneath her words. He didn't press further, and soon they reached the garden, which was alive with people—families having picnics, children playing under the artificial starry sky, and couples enjoying their evening strolls.
The three of them found an empty bench and sat down, gazing at the cosmic panorama above.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the peaceful moment.
"Hey! You're Blaze, the Blading Champion!"
Blaze immediately stood up, instinctively gripping the hilt of his sword. A young man with striking green hair and sharp green eyes approached, his expression filled with excitement and determination. What caught Blaze's attention most, however, was the sword hanging at the man's waist—it emanated a powerful aura.
The stranger extended his hand eagerly. "I'm a big fan! Me and my partner, Dragonis," he patted the hilt of his sword, "have been dying to meet you. And… to challenge you!"
Blaze blinked, slightly taken aback. Blading is popular even in a place like this? He hadn't expected his reputation to reach so far into the galaxy.
Rose and Bolt exchanged curious glances.
"Blaze, you're famous even here?" Bolt asked, wide-eyed.
Before Blaze could respond, another voice boomed through the area.
To be continue....
