"I had bad luck too. I ran into someone named Otsutsuki Hakuto. He said there was chaos going on here and asked me to help track down one of his younger clansmen. I was confused, and before I knew it, he teleported me here."
"Otsutsuki Hakuto?"
The boy looked puzzled. "I've heard of Hakuto before. He left the moon hundreds of years ago. You're saying he asked you to help find a junior clansman?"
"You're messing with me, right?"
The boy's tone grew more serious.
"Uh... Kid! I know it sounds unbelievable, but those were his exact words! He probably left behind a recording of himself after he died—like a ghost message. You know, those secret techniques some old masters use to preserve their memories after death."
"I have no idea what you're talking about!" The boy snorted coldly and turned to leave.
"Wait!" Ye Liang hurried after him. "Kid! Even if you don't believe me, at least tell me your name! Maybe I know you!"
"My name is Toneri Otsutsuki!"
The next day.
Ye Liang spent another full day on the moon.
He had already explored every corner nearby. Except for this Toneri Otsutsuki, there wasn't a single other living being!
"Damn it! Could it be that all of Otsutsuki Hakuto's clan members have already perished?" He felt puzzled for a moment, suddenly curious about Toneri Otsutsuki's identity.
Other members of the Otsutsuki clan were all ruling supreme on Earth, yet Toneri Otsutsuki alone could endure solitude, guarding the barrier on this moon. How pitiful.
Thinking of this,
Ye Liang decided to visit Toneri Otsutsuki's home again.
He arrived at a high mountain—this was the place where he had met Toneri Otsutsuki last time.
"Dong! Dong! Dong!"
He knocked three times on the large stone: "Anybody home? Kid, I've come to visit. Open the door, please."
No response.
"That's strange. Could it be that Toneri went out?"
Ye Liang pushed the stone aside directly.
Though it was called a door, it was simply a huge rock blocking the cave entrance.
He jumped straight into the cave entrance. Thanks to his Chakra abilities, his body floated down slowly. Just before landing, he lightly stepped on the wall behind him.
He landed safely.
A technique like this, which requires skill, is definitely something the Heart Demon couldn't pull off. Otherwise, he wouldn't have fallen so badly at the Ruins of the Land of Craftsmen before.
"Kid, are you here!"
Ye Liang called out. It was a pitch-black cave inside, the air reeking of mildew—unbearable to breathe in. "Did Hamura Otsutsuki really live here for centuries?"
Suddenly, he somewhat understood why Hamura Otsutsuki's descendants rebelled!
No one could bear living in such a harsh environment, let alone for centuries! In silence, he walked deeper into the cave. Soon, he saw a glimmer of light.
It seemed to be some pearls emitting white light.
Ye Liang quickly walked over.
These pearls were very similar to the one that transported him here, even slightly larger in size. He grabbed one recklessly and held it in his hand.
[Open Sesame!]
Heaven, have mercy!
[Staff! Chicken!]
"Ye Liang chanted a string of incantations, but unfortunately, none of them worked. Frustrated, he threw the beads onto the ground. Suddenly, a streak of white light flashed before him, and within it, he caught a faint glimpse of a phantom image!
"What the hell is going on?"
He picked up one of the beads again, hesitated for a moment, then tossed it to the ground.
Sure enough!
The phantom image appeared again.
This time, it wasn't just a fleeting moment—it was a scene! A member of the Otsutsuki Clan fleeing in desperation, apparently being pursued, his face filled with terror as he ran.
Ye Liang couldn't see who was chasing him, but he clearly heard a scream before the bead containing the phantom image instantly split into two halves!
"Could these be people's dying memories?" Ye Liang picked up several more beads and threw them down, each one displaying fragments of someone's final moments.
At that moment, a shadow emerged from deep within the cave.
"You seem particularly interested in the remains of my clan."
Toneri otsutsuki!
"Remains?"
Ye Liang looked at Toneri otsutsuki, then at the bead in his hand. Suddenly, he noticed a pattern shaped like an eyeball on the back of the bead. Startled, he immediately let go.
"Correct! These beads are all formed from the eyeballs of my clan. They died on the Moon, their bodies quickly decaying, but their eyes—their vessels of power—all remained.
These beads formed from those eyes over time."
"Damn!"
After hearing Toneri otsutsuki's words, Ye Liang quickly wiped his hands. At that moment, he realized the cave around him was covered with these eye-like beads.
The beads were densely packed, almost covering the entire cavern.
"Are all your clansmen... dead?" A sudden thought struck him.
This time, Toneri otsutsuki didn't answer. Instead, he lowered his head with a sorrowful gaze and stepped deeper into the cave.
Ye Liang hurried to follow.
Soon enough,
he followed Toneri to a bottomless pit.
Inside were thousands of bead-like objects shaped like eyes.
Looking at Ye Liang's alarmed expression, Toneri sighed, "All my clansmen are here."
"What exactly happened?" Ye Liang quickly asked.
He had once accepted a request from Otsutsuki Hakuto at the Ruins of the Land of Craftsmen to help resolve conflicts among his descendants.
"They're all dead! They perished in internal strife. I am the last of the lineage of Hamura otsutsuki. The Hakuto you mentioned lived hundreds of years ago.
It's too late...
Truly too late!"
Hundreds of years ago!
Ye Liang felt a pang of helplessness.
Actually, he had already suspected that Otsutsuki Hakuto had died many years prior, but since he had come to the Moon anyway, he still wanted to honor the message left behind.
One must see things through from start to finish!
Ye Liang shook his head. "Then what will you do next? Continue living on this Moon?"
Toneri otsutsuki blinked.
"Actually, before you arrived, I was preparing to complete the legendary Tenseigan using my clansmen's remains. With it, I could return to Earth.
However, your words changed my mind.
Perhaps our ancestor wasn't forced into it after all—he willingly became the tool of the Guardian's Seal. I should inherit his will and continue protecting Earth."
"It's best that you've come to this realization."
"Okay," Ye Liang nodded, a sly glint in his eyes. "Can I have that Tenseigan eye of yours? Since you've already appointed it, could you please send me back to Earth?
I have no interest in staying on this deserted planet."
Toneri Otsutsuki's pupils flickered, but he ignored Ye Liang.
He waved his hand dismissively.
"Just go! There's nothing for you here! If you truly want to return to Earth, find another way!"
"What the hell?! So changeable!"
Seeing Toneri suddenly change his attitude completely, Ye Liang was stunned.
You're not even a girl, so why act so moody...
"Kid! Can't we really negotiate?"
"No!"
"What if I give you a lollipop?"
"What's a lollipop?"
Ye Liang flipped him off.
"Get lost!"
