Not long after Kevin left me, I met up with June, Dark and Rocks at the inn. Walking inside the place was surprisingly crowded, it took me a couple minutes to find the three sitting at one of the many tables. Walking over and sitting down I immediately got to business.
"Alright you all already know of my potential deal with the potion shop. So did any of you find anything?" I ask.
"Dark and I checked in on a few shops but the only one we think has potential is the blacksmith. Other then the owner being a scary orc, we were able to get some info from him. He let it slip that copper and tin generate inside the goblin dungeon and he's willing to buy all of it from us. 2 copper coins for every pound of copper and 8 for every pound of tin. Kinda shitty since that much copper is far more then what's in 2 coins." June explained.
"True but remember that he has to work the metal and I highly doubt he's legally allowed to mint coins, so then he has to use it or sell to someone who can mint it. At a cheap price of course because that's any government for you. Well once we get these potions we will be selling outside the dungeon so we can also buy any ore from the players. We don't have enough members to control both dungeons right now sadly. We'll buy copper for one coin per pound and tin for five coins per pound. That will give us a nice profit without doing any of the work and it'll let the players unload some of their inventory while earning coin." I tell them.
They nodded before Rocks spoke. "I found the only bookstore in this town. So far nothing of importance but we all know devs love hiding valuable info in random ass books."
"True keep looking. We might find some unknown info that we can sell online." I tell him.
Rocks was a private investigator in real life before retiring a few years ago. The devs of AoA only fed the players enough info to keep the hype up while they were developing the game, so there's tons of information players are willing to pay for. And who better to find it than an old pi.
"Alright we only have a couple more hours before we'll be forced to logout for a bit. So June and Dark see if you can find any info on any nearby mines. With us close to the mountains I'm sure there's some. Rocks keep looking for any valuable info. And of course all of you keep your ears open for any opportunities." I say while standing. "Now I'm going to go check in with Rex and then complete that potion deal."
Rex had pm me during that conversation telling me he has a potentially huge opportunity and gave me his location. Speed walking out of the inn I turn down one of the small side streets towards an out of the way house. The house it's self had definitely seen better days, it was run down with shingles on the roof barley hanging on. Knocking on the door, it was quickly opened and Rex peaked out. When he saw it was me he grabbed me and yanked me inside.
"Sorry Mr.Gold, we don't want anybody knowing we're here." He apologized for the manhandling.
"Mhm, and why's that?" I ask.
"Follow me, it's better if I show you." He said while leading me to a basement.
Better to show me indeed. As we enter I see a stereotypical mad scientist near a few stills while holding a jar of clear liquid.
Pinching the bridge of my nose I look at Rex and ask. "Did you bring me to a moonshiner?"
"Uhh yeah boss. Is this not a good opportunity?" He wonder aloud.
"Oh it's potentially a great opportunity. It also has the potential to get us arrested." I say with a sigh.
"Only if you're a damn fool." The man says. "This is high quality shine."
"Then why aren't you selling it?" I ask.
"Boy I make shine. I don't know the first damn thing about selling it. I figure you filthy lizards are into the shady business of selling illegal stuff." He says with hatred. We really need to raise our fucking rep.
"Fine. How much can you supply and how often?"
"At current production twenty jars a day. That might change in the future who knows." He says with a sneer.
"We'll pick them up every other night and at the same time deliver your share from the previous batch. How does seventy percent to us and thirty percent to you sound?" I ask.
"Sounds like daylight robbery you wannabe dragon. Fifty fifty." He once again insults us.
"Hell no. We are taking all the risk here. Best we can do is sixty five to thirty five." I say.
"You'll give me forty percent and you'll like it."
"Fine deal. We'll pick up the first batch tomorrow night." I say as he shoos us out.
Once outside I turn to Rex and say. "I'm getting pretty fucking annoyed with this rep. Still that went well, you'll take lead on this. I don't have the patience to deal with that mans bullshit every other day. Give SoA the option to buy the booze before any other players, and be careful who you sell to. This early on players are willing to rat for a silver or two." I tell him.
"Of course Mr.Gold. What should we set the price per jar?" He asks.
"Like I said you're taking lead, so you decide the price. I'll expect weekly reports on this operation. Of course if it's something urgent contact me immediately." I tell him. "Now I need to go meet Shadow to get the silver and finish this potion deal."
He nods to me as I walk away. It doesn't take me long to find Kevin outside the tavern with a few of his guild members. As he sees me coming he withdraws the money from his inventory which automatically comes out in a small leather pouch.
Handing it to me he says. "It's all there. Let me know when you have our share of the profits."
Nodding I say. "Will do man. Now I need to go finish this deal before I have to logout." Waving to them I quickly head towards the potion shop.Stepping in I see Korvik look up at me and grin.
"Ah Mr.Goldsss, welcome back. You are here to buy my potionsss yesss?" He asks.
"Indeed I am Korvik. I'll buy all one hundred and twenty common potions." I say while pulling out the three silver and sixty copper.
"Very good. I have them all in these cratesss here. You sshould easily be able to fit them in that otherworlder sstorage you have." He says while motioning to the crates stacked behind him.
Nodding I hand him the money pouch and start storing the potions in my inventory. They take up six of my ten inventory slots, each stacking up to twenty. From this batch we have sixty health, forty mana and twenty stamina potions. Frowning slightly I turn to him and ask.
"Are speed potions a thing?"
"Of course, but even the most basic sspeed potion isss a rare. Much more expensive." He says with a grin.
"Good to know, thank you. Now my group is interested in buying all your common potions daily starting the day after tomorrow, for the same price as today's deal. Is this agreeable to you? And if so how many do you make daily?"
"Hmmm, very well. I prefer to deal with you then the other otherworldersss. You aren't asss rude. I can make at least forty daily, ssometimesss more." He agrees.
"Great I'll return in two days to buy the next eighty then!" I tell him while he shakes my hand. Smiling I walk out of the shop and notice a notification.
[40 Experience for completing your first deal. Making the same deal with the same person does not provide experience.]
It's unfortunate that reoccurring deals won't give experience, but I guess it's the games way of pushing merchants into finding new buyers and sellers. Hopefully each new person we sell a potion to will give us experience. I pull up my status before logging out for a few hours.
