"Meet me after school."
That's all Kael said, slipping Eon a note without even glancing his way.
Eon's heart thudded.
After the final bell, he snuck out to the old auditorium. It hadn't been used in years — cobwebs in corners, dust floating in beams of light.
Kael was waiting.
He didn't smile.
"There's a system within you. Ancient. Chosen. But it comes with rules," Kael said, voice echoing in the empty room. "Rule one: never use power out of emotion. It listens. It remembers."
Eon frowned. "Listens to what?"
Kael held out a hand. A surge of light swirled in his palm — a shape forming, flickering like lightning trapped in glass.
"To you," Kael said. "And everything you fear."
Then the floor shook.
A memory — or something more — surged through Eon's mind.
A boy screaming. A hallway dark with smoke. His own voice shouting something he couldn't remember.
Kael caught him before he fell.
"Rule two: it always tests you," Kael whispered. "And rule three… not everyone chosen survives it."
We can keep the momentum rolling with Chapter 6 — maybe dive deeper into Eon's past memory flashes, or begin a training sequence where his powers start glitching dangerously. Or if you're in the mood for a twist, we could introduce someone else who was chosen… but rejected the system. Ready?
