Chapter 14 - Maybe, I can't use it

Kaelion - So Ultimately, we need to first learn our basic powers, right?

Elira - Obviously we need to. But what are the creatures that we faced? They were so dangerous!

Vaelis - Oh yes, you did explain the powers and the codex, but who were the creatures?

Nyra - Those creatures? Who were they you ask huh, good question.

They really seemed like regular monsters with some cool powers right? But they are, formed by shattering of something, something legendary. They're called, fracturites.

Kaelion - Fracturites?

Nyra - Yes, they are very dangerous, in fact, there are fracturites much powerful than these out there.

Vaelis - Powerful than this? Insane, we need to hone our powers.

Lyraen - Exactly! Now, what do we do about our powers now?

Nyra - I'll train you guys.

Elira - Train us? But how?

Nyra - Doesn't matter how, you have to do as I say, but we can't practice here, maybe somewhere quiet, where there aren't much people who could spot us. Follow me.

*Everyone follows Nyra. She stands just outside Renzo's house.

Nyra - Everyone, stand near me, circular.

*Everyone stands near Nyra, in a circular trace. She brings out a core, floating just above her palm, glowing brilliantly, and two black rings orbiting it. And in a flash!....

Kaelion - Where are we?

Elira - This place seems dangerous, scary!

Drevyn - This place, it looks like another dimension, everything is purple out here, the sky.

Nyra - I have teleported you to another dimension, where I will train you guys to fight fracturites and use your powers.

Renzo - What are you doing above there?

Nyra - I'll be sitting on this hologram throne. Watching you, ordering you, teaching you, training you.

Renzo - So you're gonna just sit there?

Nyra - Now listen, as I already told you, you guys have elementrix energy in you, try to feel it, sit on the big circle just behind you. With a pattern in it see?

*Everyone sits on the circle.

Nyra - Now, look, a stone appears in front of you.

Kaelion - Yes it does, with a mold, looks like a hand.

Nyra - Good, place your hand on it. And close your eyes, and try to feel the elementrix in you, can you see a balloon in front of the stone? Try to burst it.

Renzo - But how? Without touching?

Nyra - Renzo, it's a bad habit of yours just blabbering without hearing everything. Try to feel the elementrix in you, try to make it flow through the stone while placing your hands in it, and it will burst, the balloon will, definitely, it's not hard, it's not difficult. But it will take a few minutes, might take an hour too.

Vaelis - An Hour?! I'm not doing this for an hour!

Nyra - Then prepare to die in front of your friends, from fracturites, you won't be able to fight them, you are an echoheart, now it's your duty to protect everyone.

*Everyone starts doing as Nyra ordered, closing their eyes, trying to flow elementrix.

*After 6 minutes.

Kaelion - It did! It burst! The balloon bursts!

Nyra - Cool, now you have passed this level. Nyra lifts her hands and then a large blue glowing capsule appears from above slowly coming down and covers Kaelion.

Kaelion - Wait what is this capsule? Help me get out!

Nyra - Get ready for your next test.

The capsule takes Kaelion and passes through the platform and in a flash, disappears.

Elira - Where did he go? Kaelion!?

Nyra - Don't worry, he has just passed the test, and now it's your turn, Elira.

*Elira slowly placed her hand on the frozen mold etched into the stone — her palm trembling slightly, her breath shallow. The morning air wrapped around her like a ghost, chilling her bones, yet her heart burned with quiet determination.

She closed her eyes.

For a moment, nothing happened. Only the soft whistle of wind brushing her silver strands.

Then — the faint sound of cracking.

Ice threads shimmered from her fingertips, delicate but deliberate, crawling into the mold like veins of frost on a winter window. The air around her hand grew colder, heavier. Time itself seemed to slow.

The balloon above the altar — trembling — let out a soft squeal, its surface tightening.

With a silent breath…

Pop.

A sharp echo. A gasp from behind.

Elira opened her eyes — stunned.

A snowflake danced down from her palm, vanishing before it touched the stone.

Nyra - You guys are amazing, Drevyn, now it's your turn.

*Drevyn stared at the stone mold beneath him — a faint outline shaped like a palm, glowing dimly with ancient lines, like it had been waiting for someone.

He took a breath, clenched his fist once, and placed his hand flat on the imprint.

The wind slowed. His heartbeat echoed louder than before.

Nothing happened… for a second.

Then the heat in his chest shifted — not pain, not fire… but pressure, like something deep inside was finally moving.

His fingers twitched.

A faint glow—orange, flickering—began to creep through the veins of his hand. Tiny embers sparked from his wrist, and his eyes narrowed. His breathing sharpened, but he didn't back down.

The balloon tied to the stand in front of him trembled.

Foom.

A flash of orange burst beneath his palm. The air shimmered.

The balloon exploded instantly — not with a loud pop, but with a sharp crack, like the air itself had caught fire for a second.

Silence.

Smoke lingered from his fingers, dancing in the air like flame spirits. He looked at his hand — no burns, just warmth.

And for the first time…

He felt it.

The flame was his.

Nyra - Extremely good as a beginner, Now, celestra.

*Celestra pressed her palm against the stone mold, brows furrowed, breath steady. A soft ripple formed beneath her hand. Water swirled gently, coiling like a serpent from her fingers. It twirled mid-air, graceful yet precise—then with a sharp crack, the balloon burst in a splash. She blinked in awe, a smile tugging at her lips.

Nyra - Great, Vaelis, your turn.

*Vaelis barely touched the mold when a sharp crack echoed—lightning arced from his fingertips, wild and untamed. The balloon didn't just pop—it exploded midair with a blinding flash and a sharp sizzle. Static clung to his hair as he stood there, stunned… then smirked.

Nyra - Great, Now Lyraen's turn.

As Lyraen reached toward the mold, the ground beneath him quivered. From his fingertips, thin green tendrils sprouted, coiling like curious snakes. A sudden burst—vines shot out, wrapping around the balloon and crushing it midair with a snap, leaves fluttering in the breeze that followed.

Nyra - Mind blowing, now Renzo's turn.

Renzo - Something's wrong, I can't....
