Chapter 6 - chapter 6:Two Magic Systems

Not long after, Clive arrived, panting.

As the Border Garrison Town's financial officer, he lived a comfortable life, having put on weight and developed a small potbelly. He had tiny eyes that were almost slits, a pair of walrus mustaches, and a severely bald head with hair combed from the sides to cover the bald spot.

"Sor…sorry, Mar…Marquis, please let…let me catch…catch my breath."

After entering the study, Clive took several breaths before gradually recovering, apparently having run a bit too fast on the way.

After a bow, he asked, "Marquis, what can I do for you?"

"Go to the square and post a new recruitment order. We need a batch of odd-job workers, porters, stone breakers, and construction workers. Prioritize recruiting construction workers."

"Marquis, what are you planning to do?" Clive ventured to ask.

"Manufacture cement to quickly repair the eastern gap in the Northern City Wall and enhance the wall's ability to defend against Undead Creatures."

Upon hearing the word "cement," Clive's face showed confusion. Owen thought he would ask what cement was, but he didn't.

"Alright, Marquis, I'll get to it right away."

With that, Clive withdrew.

Owen had done many strange things before, and Clive was already used to it. Hadn't he previously sent people to collect seeds everywhere, hoping to grow something in this cursed land? He heard it failed.

Now, he was doing this again. Although Clive didn't know what cement was, he felt it would ultimately fail, so he didn't ask further.

That being said, Clive's efficiency was indeed impressive; he recruited enough people by the next day.

Owen handed the recruited construction workers over to Vilu, asking him to find time to modify an adobe house located on the outskirts of the town, near the quarry, according to the requirements. The others were to remain on standby for now.

On a side note, in last night's dream, knowing Owen was a mage, Wenster excitedly asked him to demonstrate magic. Since this was Owen's dream, recreating real-world magic was effortless.

After witnessing the magic, Wenster asked many questions about it.

In return for Wenster providing the cement production method, Owen unreservedly shared all the magical knowledge he knew.

There are two magic Systems in this world: Elemental Magic and Faith Magic.

Before a formal introduction, it should be noted that most people possess magic power, but for the vast majority, the amount of magic power is pitifully small and almost negligible.

Only a few individuals with sufficient magic power are qualified to become mages.

The magic power within the body generally possesses only one elemental attribute. For example, Owen's magic power is fire-attributed, and he can only use fire-element magic. Of course, a very small number of people have magic power with multiple elemental attributes; those individuals are rare geniuses in the world.

The most basic elemental attributes are wind, water, earth, fire, light, and dark—six in total.

Elemental Magic is relatively simple: it involves driving magic power to transform into the corresponding elemental attribute and then releasing it from within the body. This process is casting a spell. Incantations can help beginners accelerate the magic power transformation process.

Faith Magic is relatively more complex; the caster must believe in a deity and be extremely devout to establish a faint connection with the deity. Because of this unique characteristic, users of Faith Magic are mostly religious personnel.

Before casting a spell, the caster typically prays to the deity. The magic power within the body will automatically transform into sacred elements, which are then released. It's worth noting that Faith Magic can disregard the attribute of magic power, transforming it all into sacred elements.

Having satisfied Wenster's curiosity, it was his turn to describe the situation in his world.

As they chatted, they discussed various academic subjects. This greatly interested Owen, who requested Wenster to teach him this knowledge. The other party was also happy to impart knowledge, and thus, the dream became Owen's learning place.

Over the next three days, Owen spent his days handling various affairs and practicing magic, while at night he learned new knowledge from Wenster in his dreams.

If he got tired of studying, Owen would leave the dream and enter a state of sleep. When he opened his eyes, it would be the next morning, and his days were quite fulfilling.

...

This morning, Owen's System underwent its first upgrade.

In the castle's study, he sat at his desk, watching the progress bar in his field of vision slowly increase from 0% to 50%.

During this time, Owen kept feeling that something was off today. After much thought, he suddenly realized that it was because he couldn't maintain contact with Wenster during the System upgrade, and the whole world felt much quieter.

Understanding this, Owen couldn't help but smile. He usually complained about him being noisy, but now that he wasn't around, he felt his ears were too quiet.

Speaking of Wenster, Owen always felt that this person was exceptionally wealthy and had too much free time.

According to Owen's understanding, the Xichuang Group behind Wenster was a behemoth, operating over a dozen resource planets, owning hundreds of Universe spaceships, and having achievements in multiple top-tier technology Domains.

"Planets…"

Speaking of planets, Owen felt quite emotional. Not long ago, he still thought the entire continent and the surrounding ocean were on a flat plane.

Now, he had learned a lot from Wenster and had a preliminary understanding of the Universe, greatly expanding his horizons.

Of course, this was also due to Owen's exceptionally strong ability to accept new ideas. Even Wenster had said that it is very difficult for a person to change their preconceived notions, yet Owen did it easily.

Ding! The progress bar is at 100%, System upgrade complete.

Owen recognized all the words on the prompt window. It seemed Wenster had replaced all the System text with the language of this world.

Closing the window, Owen clicked the red circle in the upper left corner.

A page full of text immediately unfolded before him, with the title at the beginning—This Upgrade Explanation.

Scrolling with his finger, Owen roughly skimmed through it, learning that this upgrade, in addition to System optimization, also added three new functions.

The first was the emergency call function. Even if Wenster had all the free time in the world, he couldn't maintain contact with Owen at all times. If there was any emergency, Owen could call him using this function.

Finally, there was a way to initiate contact; previously, contact was always passive.

The second was the folder function. The System could receive files sent by Wenster and store them inside, allowing them to be viewed at any time. Receivable files included text, images, and so on.

This way, Wenster could send design blueprints, and Owen could then manufacture based on those blueprints. There were also books on various academic subjects, allowing him to study outside of the dream.

The last one was the visible data function. By selecting the desired indicators, the corresponding data would be displayed in the field of vision.

Dimensional Anomaly III itself possessed the ability to detect various data, but all the acquired data used to be sent to Wenster. Now, Owen could directly see this data.

Overall, this upgrade added many practical functions, making it easier to receive Wenster's help.

Closing the explanation page, Owen saw that in addition to the transfer function icon, there were three more icons on the main interface.

The emergency call icon was a red phone; the folder icon was a yellow folder; and the visible data icon was a white eye with the number 01 in the pupil.
