Boom!
On an island adjacent to the one where Mikazuki was currently fighting, a red and white Mobile Suit hid atop a cliff, secretly observing the battle below.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa! What is even going on with this fight? This is too terrifying. Are the movements and reactions of those two machines really something a human can pull off?"
The observer was Lowe Guele, a member of the Junk Guild. He and his partners were currently based in the Orb Union; furthermore, the Archangel had been sent to Lowe by Orb for repairs.
He had come to this location specifically to test the flight capabilities of his personal unit, the Gundam Astray Red Frame. He had intended to stop and refuel his thrusters when he spotted a machine standing there. He had originally planned to go down and say hello, but then a massive black monster of a suit had suddenly arrived.
The two machines had instantly locked in combat. The sheer pressure radiating from their battle left him stunned. Soon after, he picked up a voice over the public communication channel.
"Sinful child! Lieutenant Crank Zent clearly did not want to fight you. He wanted to save you. Why can't you understand his mercy?"
Mikazuki glanced at the ammunition for his mortars and replied indifferently, "That old guy was the one who wanted to die."
"...As I thought, you are a defective product! A hopeless Space Rat!"
Graze Ein grabbed the giant pliers, and the drill on its forearm easily pierced through the weapon.
Mikazuki discarded the pliers without hesitation. He reached back and grabbed Graze Ein's left hand the one that had lost its drill and threw a punch with his own left arm toward the enemy's blind spot.
Boom!
It was as if Graze Ein had eyes all over its body; it actually caught Mikazuki's punch. Mikazuki had originally intended to get close and fire his cannons point-blank, but he was forced to abandon the idea.
Just as he tried to retreat, the Gundam Barbatos's right hand was seized. Two Gatling Guns deployed from Graze Ein's shoulders.
Rat-tat-tat-tat!
A series of muzzle flashes flickered. The Barbatos tilted its head, but its left horn was snapped off. Simultaneously, the mortar mounted on its pinned right arm blasted the Gatling Gun on Graze Ein's right shoulder, allowing Mikazuki to break free from the enemy's restraint.
Mikazuki checked the status of his mortars again. Perhaps due to the struggle just now, the right arm's barrel was malfunctioning and starting to overheat; he estimated it would explode if he fired even two more rounds.
Furthermore, he only had six mortar shells left three on each side.
Mikazuki's breathing was slightly ragged. He retreated a short distance to compose himself.
"This guy's performance has increased at least eightfold..."
"What should we do? Mika, the Barbatos is almost out of ammo, and the thruster fuel is down to forty-six percent. Meanwhile, the enemy has nearly infinite fuel, and then there's the difference in the Alaya-Vijnana System..."
Mikazuki had already noticed these disadvantages. "So, we can't let this drag on..."
"Are you planning to... No! I don't agree!" Orga Itsuka's tone was decisive.
"But if this keeps up, I'll just be pushed further onto the defensive. I'll die..."
"...Does it have to be this way?"
"Don't worry. I told you, right? It won't be any different than it is now."
"Tch... fine, do what you want. You wouldn't listen to me anyway." Orga compromised.
The corner of Mikazuki's mouth twitched into a smirk as he licked his lips. His pupils contracted slightly, and his lips moved as he whispered.
"Hey, Barbatos. You're pretty pissed off too, aren't you? Then let's just leave everything to me. I'm... also beyond pissed."
Ugh!
The Gundam Barbatos's originally green eyes suddenly turned a blood-stained scarlet. Inside the cockpit, Mikazuki's right eye began to rupture with blood, which began to flow steadily from the crimson orb.
"Mika..."
The thing Orga feared most had happened: Mikazuki had once again released the Barbatos's limiters.
"Go join Lieutenant Crank Zent in the grave, you rat!"
Clang!
A massive axe slammed into the Barbatos's Tachi, sending sparks flying through the curtain of rain.
The blades of the two weapons ground against each other, producing a never-ending, ear-piercing screech.
Finally, Mikazuki broke the deadlock. His back thrusters surged, instantly shifting the momentum and allowing him to suppress Graze Ein.
For a moment, the two sides were at a standstill. Both machines retreated simultaneously to reset their stances.
Mikazuki wiped the blood trailing from the corner of his mouth and taunted, "So what if you have a complete Alaya-Vijnana System? I've already killed you once."
"What did you say? You bastard!"
Graze Ein flew into a violent rage. He had indeed been defeated by Mikazuki before, and for the arrogant Ein, that was an untouchable stain on his honor.
"You Martian rats, die!"
Graze Ein erupted with staggering speed. Mikazuki's pupils constricted and his breath hitched. He slammed his feet onto the pedals and shifted the control sticks with precision.
Relying on the Alaya-Vijnana System with its limiters released, the Barbatos executed an equally incredible maneuver, leaving behind an afterimage as it dodged a massive axe strike that even an elite pilot would have found impossible to evade.
Simultaneously, Mikazuki lashed out with a left kick to knock Graze Ein back. He raised his right arm and fired two shots before releasing the latch and hurling the entire right-arm mortar assembly at the enemy.
Just as the mortar bounced off Graze Ein's body, Mikazuki fired the final three shells from his left-arm mortar.
Boom!
A massive explosion erupted. On the other island, Lowe watched the scene with his mouth agape, his eyes filled with horror.
"Is... is it over?"
Just when he thought it was finished, the Gundam Barbatos emerged, clutching its Tachi. It ignited its thrusters, ignoring the aftershocks of the blast as it charged full tilt into the heart of the flames...
