Chapter 54 - 54: Space Pirates.

The surface of the moon, known as the Infinite Earth.

On this day, a simple three-masted sailboat descended quietly from the void and landed steadily on the barren soil.

Had anyone witnessed it, they would've been stunned. A wooden seafaring ship, entirely lacking modern technology, had flown through space and reached the moon. It defied all reason.

Fwoop.

A shimmer rippled through the air. A large bubble materialized around the ship, forming a breathable shield.

On the deck, Kaelen Tsukishiro and Robin appeared.

"So, this is the Infinite Earth," Robin murmured, eyes wide with awe. "It's so desolate…"

She turned her head slowly, scanning the endless expanse of dull gray and black rock. Her curiosity burned—like someone walking into the Grand View Garden, overwhelmed by novelty.

"It's no surprise," Kaelen replied, stepping to the edge of the deck. "If it were anything like the Blue Sea down below, it would've been discovered long ago—or at least had some kind of communication."

His gaze was calm, but sharp. "I'd guess there was once a powerful civilization here, but it collapsed."

"Why?" Robin asked, her academic instincts piqued.

"Could be resource exhaustion," Kaelen said. "Maybe they tried to invade the world below and got wiped out in the process. Hell, it's possible the ancestors of the Celestial Dragons came from here."

He shrugged.

"Whatever the case, it's in ruins now."

The land stretched endlessly before them. Black dust covered cracked stone. Not a blade of grass in sight. No wind. No movement.

Kaelen stepped out of the bubble.

The air was thin and heavy with the scent of ancient gunpowder—faint, but still present, like the echoes of a war long past.

The moon in this world wasn't entirely detached from the planet below. It floated in a semi-connected state with the atmosphere still partially intact. That was how Kaelen had been able to fly there in the first place.

Dry. Barren. Silent.

That was the Infinite Earth.

There was oxygen, but not much. Thinner than sea-level air and slightly acrid. The air pressure was high, enough to make breathing uncomfortable without adaptation.

Still, it was livable.

"I wonder where Enel is hiding," Kaelen muttered.

He closed his eyes and activated Observation Haki, sending out waves of awareness across the barren land.

Ten kilometers.

Twenty.

One hundred.

By the time he reached a three-hundred-kilometer radius, he was at his limit.

"…Nothing," he said, furrowing his brows. "Not a single trace of life. Just silence."

He returned to the ship where Robin was waiting, her hands against the bubble, her eyes practically glowing with anticipation.

"How is it?" she asked.

"There's breathable air, but it's thin. You'll need a moment to adjust," Kaelen answered. "Honestly, I wouldn't want to stay here too long. The place feels... dead."

Robin's smile faded slightly. But as an archaeologist, she knew better than to rely on surface impressions.

Without hesitation, she stepped through the bubble and planted her feet on the lunar ground.

"There was a war here," she said suddenly.

She knelt, scooped up a handful of gray dust, rubbed it between her fingers, and brought it to her nose. "A massive one. Probably centuries ago."

Kaelen blinked. "How'd you figure that out so fast?"

She gave him a sly look. "Trade secret."

He chuckled. "Fair enough. Let's move. Maybe we'll find something deeper inland."

Removing the bubble shield, Kaelen activated his Float-Float Fruit ability. The ship rose into the air, slowly gliding forward across the silent land.

No destination in mind. Just movement.

Wherever Enel and the other Lunar inhabitants were hiding, Kaelen intended to find them—even if it meant combing the entire moon.

---

Hours passed.

"…Hold on."

Kaelen's eyes narrowed.

He extended his Haki again—and this time, something responded.

"Robin," he called, "we've got life signs."

Her book snapped shut.

"Where?"

"Two hundred kilometers due north. Small group. Let's go."

The sailboat surged forward with a burst of speed, cutting through the dead air like an arrow.

Within minutes, they reached a cratered clearing. Below them sat a group of humanoid creatures—tall, fur-covered beings with rabbit-like features. They wore strange gear and carried long rifles, each one radiating a feral aura.

Their bodies were lean but strong, their presence clearly battle-hardened. On their chests, they wore devices resembling round pressure gauges.

"What… adorable rabbits," Robin cooed, smiling like she'd found a litter of puppies.

Kaelen side-eyed her. "Adorable?"

He looked again. Their bloodthirsty eyes and weapons said otherwise.

As the ship drew closer, the creatures below jumped to their feet, aiming their guns skyward, visibly on edge.

One of them, clearly the leader, stepped forward and raised his voice.

"We are members of the Space Pirate Squad: Isais! Who are you?!"

Kaelen and Robin exchanged glances.

"Well," Kaelen muttered, cracking his knuckles, "at least there's someone to talk to."
