After Barry had his seizure, we picked him up and met with the Shazam kids in some house.
It was seriously strange seeing a group of around thirteen-year-old kids with superpowers. I really wondered what was going through that wizard's head when he gave Billy Batson his powers dude must have been reaaally desperate.
While I was cursing out the wizard in my head, Barry slowly woke up from unconsciousness. He opened his eyes only to be greeted by a bunch of kids staring at him. Yeah… I didn't envy him one bit.
One of the Shazam kids spoke to the just-awakening Barry:
"Who the hell is that?"
Thomas immediately answered for him:
"He's with us, now shut up."
Then Thomas looked at Cyborg and asked,
"How's it looking?"
Cyborg raised his hand, and a holographic screen appeared on it. I'm not exactly an expert in these things, but on the hologram there was a news reporter and an image of a guy named Hal Jordan a.k.a. Green Lantern.
Oh right totally forgot about that guy. Not that it mattered he never got the Green Lantern ring in this universe anyway. If I remember right, he died in some kamikaze stunt, right?
Sure enough, Cyborg confirmed my thoughts Hal Jordan died in a failed kamikaze attack on Aquaman's weapon.
The more I heard about that guy, the less I liked him. This whole damn war was his fault, and he actually thought he was in the right?
Nobody told him to stick his damn thing into Wonder Woman when he's got a loving wife waiting for him at home!
I seriously don't get people like that. If Mera were my wife, I'd be grateful. Honestly, I really wanted to beat the crap out of that bastard.
While I was still fantasizing about kicking Aquaman's ass, the others finished their talk, and we headed for Thomas's "Bat Plane" a.k.a. a totally normal private jet.
---
In the "Bat Plane"
Thomas was flying the plane, and Cyborg sat in the co-pilot's seat.
Barry and I were standing behind them.
Barry spoke up:
"Bruce's Bat Plane was a little… more humble."
Thomas replied instantly:
"Your Batman didn't have to ferry gamblers to casinos with pockets full of cash."
Cyborg added:
"So he didn't need a fully stocked bar either."
I smiled at their exchange, surprised at myself. Ever since I'd arrived in this world, I'd been quieter than usual. Normally, I talk a lot. Now… I just think a lot. Guess that's the side effect of the Abyss.
Then they started talking about alcohol, which didn't interest me at all.
What did interest me was the seat Cyborg left open when he got up.
I quickly sat down before Barry could steal it, giving him a smug, victorious grin.
Barry looked at me like he was this close to using his super speed to move me out of the way.
His mistake I fought hard for this seat. No way I'd let someone in tight red spandex take it from me.
But… before I could react, the bastard sat on my lap.
Like… I'm not gay, bro.
Thomas looked at the two of us and sighed.
---
After a moment of silence, Barry spoke:
"I'm glad I managed to convince you."
I nodded in agreement… though he was still sitting on my damn lap.
Thomas glanced at us and started speaking:
"Ever since I promised Cyborg my help, I've been intercepting news from Europe. During your brave little speech, I picked up a report that might interest you."
As he spoke, he turned on a small monitor showing some news.
Barry asked immediately,
"What is it?"
Thomas replied:
"Lois Lane, a field reporter, has become part of the resistance. In the new Themyscira, she saw a being that can move fast."
The feed finally came up it was a picture of Amazons, and behind them was a blurred yellow streak… a.k.a. Eobard Thawne. Oh, how I hate that name.
Barry's expression twisted slightly as Thomas zoomed in, revealing Reverse Flash's face.
Barry said, "Thawne…"
Thomas kept going:
"If it was him, why let her live and even help her? And if he's as fast as you…"
Thomas didn't even finish before Barry cut him off:
"Why would he want to be seen?"
We didn't get to think about it because suddenly damn water cannons were firing at us.
In the next second, one of our wings was blown clean off, and we started plummeting. For a moment, I thought I'd end up as a smear on the ground.
But Barry started moving his arms at incredible speed, slowing our fall. I joined in, trying to control the Force.
I knew I wasn't at Darth Vader's level yet, but still we slowed our descent enough to make it painless.
