Shen Yi frowned at Nico's closeness toward Jiang Qi but kept still. The sharpness in his eyes, however, was impossible to miss. There was a quiet warning there, one that only those who knew him well would understand. But Nico was too busy with Jiang Qi to spare Shen Yi any attention.
Switching from Italian to their language, Nico smiled lightly and asked, "How have you been doing, Ace?"
Jiang Qi only stared at him, his expression calm but slightly cold. There was clear discomfort in his eyes, a distant look that spoke louder than words. To him, this man sitting too close, talking to him as if they were long-lost friends, was nothing more than a stranger acting overly familiar.
Nico noticed. Of course, he did. He was sharp-witted being also a Mafia leader back in his home, so the faint rejection in Jiang Qi's eyes didn't escape him. But instead of taking offense, he only chuckled softly and sat upright, putting a small distance between them. Even so, his gaze never left Jiang Qi.
