Mo Lin lay on the bed, feeling a headache.
He had just returned to the mortal world and already encountered such a troublesome situation.
The Ghost Realm would deal with Yin Messengers from Yedou, which meant they would deal with him too.
He was also from Yedou.
After all, Mo Lin had killed quite a few ghosts from the Ghost Realm while in the Underworld.
He and the Ghost Realm were definitely mortal enemies.
At the very least, those big ghosts in the Ghost Realm wouldn't let him off easily.
Mo Lin touched the position of his five viscera, gradually feeling at ease.
He was the successor of a Celestial Master, and the Five Viscera Ghost Nourishing Skill was real.
If the Ghost Realm folks really pushed him to the brink, he wouldn't mind releasing the Five Ghosts completely to fight against them.
Of course, provided those old things in the Ghost Realm weren't afraid of dying.
Mo Lin had achieved thirty-six great merits in the Underworld and was awarded a title in the Yin Department, not just by talking; he truly had the skills.
After briefly understanding the Ghost Realm situation, Mo Lin sent Chen Xi and other ghosts back into the Ghost Suppression Book.
He lay down on the bed to rest.
"Ring ring..." Mo Lin's phone rang.
Mo Lin picked up the phone and glanced at it. It was already 12:34.
Who would call him at this hour?
Answering the call, a woman's voice came through the phone.
"Mo Lin, do you have some time now?"
The voice of Li Bingyan came through the phone.
"What's up?" Mo Lin asked in return.
"A very powerful ghost appeared at No. 26 Huanghai Street, and three Ghost-Controlling Masters have already died. I'd like to ask you to come and take a look."
If it weren't for the fact that this matter was tricky, she wouldn't have called Mo Lin.
"Is there any money?" Mo Lin asked his most honest thought.
It's not that he was so realistic; mainly, he was short on money.
"If you can handle this matter, I will pay you two thousand Netherworld Currency as a reward."
"Alright."
Mo Lin readily agreed.
Two thousand Netherworld Currency was not a small amount; for a Ghost-Controlling Master, at least it was enough to support a ghost.
"I'll head over now."
Mo Lin hung up the phone, put on a simple sports outfit, and left the hotel.
He didn't wear the Yin Department robe, not just because it would wear out, but mainly because he wanted to keep a low profile.
Having experienced the time when Ghost Messengers were captured, Mo Lin decided not to be so flashy.
Wearing the Yin Department robe was too eye-catching; both familiar and unfamiliar ghosts could recognize his identity at a glance because of it.
Previous Ghost-Controlling Masters at Jin Ancestral Hall couldn't summon their Contract Ghosts because Mo Lin wore the robe.
They were scared of Mo Lin, so they dared not appear.
Though he left the robe off, Mo Lin did take a crystal blue longsword with him.
Leaving the hotel, Mo Lin hailed a taxi and headed for No. 26 Huanghai Street.
In about twenty minutes or so, Mo Lin arrived at the destination.
At No. 26 Huanghai Street, the road ahead was blocked, with two black cars obstructing the way in the middle of the road.
Two young men wearing glasses stood in the middle of the road, dressed in black uniforms, preventing strangers from entering.
All outsiders were strictly prohibited from entry.
Mo Lin got out of the car and walked straight to the center of the road.
"Sir, the road is closed here, temporary access is not allowed," a young man stopped Mo Lin.
"I'm from the Ghost-Controlling Society; I'm here to solve the problem," Mo Lin slowly revealed his identity.
Hearing that Mo Lin was from the Ghost-Controlling Society, the man's attitude softened a bit.
"Follow me." The man walked ahead to lead the way.
"You must be a Ghost-Controlling Master, right?"
"Mm."
"Four Ghost-Controlling Masters have come just now, three died, and one was severely injured; you must be very careful," the young man kindly reminded Mo Lin.
"It's alright."
Mo Lin was suddenly drawn to a nearby abandoned building.
In the abandoned building, ghost qi emerged, weak as it was, but still caught Mo Lin's eye.
With ghost qi emanating from such a distance, it was at least a Dangerous Level ghost.
After walking for about five minutes, they reached directly opposite the abandoned building.
A group of people huddled together, discussing something unknown.
"Tang, someone from the Ghost-Controlling Society is here," the man reported to a woman with a ponytail in the distance.
This woman was wearing a black uniform, with a ponytail, paired with black suit pants, a formal outfit.
Her appearance was average, not particularly beautiful but not unattractive either.
"Hmm." Tang Fang nodded, then ignored Mo Lin.
She was on the phone with someone else, seemingly asking how long it would take for the person to arrive.
"What are you doing?" Tang Fang noticed Mo Lin heading toward the abandoned building alone and questioned him.
"Isn't it time to catch ghosts?"
"Come back right now.."
Tang Fang rushed forward, forcibly dragging Mo Lin back.
"The ghost inside is very fierce; it's already killed three Ghost-Controlling Masters. Going in alone isn't just going to get yourself killed?"
Tang Fang didn't give Mo Lin a chance to speak; she continued, "Don't rush. I've invited a very skilled Ghost-Controlling Master over. Once he arrives, we'll go in together."
"Alright." Mo Lin didn't mind waiting a bit longer.
After all, they were paying well.
About ten minutes later.
"Vroom vroom vroom..."
The roaring sound of an engine slowly approached.
A brisk wind rose in the air.
Looking up, a helicopter was slowly approaching, landing in an open area in the distance.
A woman in a white dress descended from the helicopter.
For some unknown personal preference, she even carried an umbrella.
Her skin was pale, wearing crystal high-heeled shoes, looking more like she was there for a vacation than ghost hunting.
To be fair, taking a helicopter for a mission is quite the grand gesture.
"This person is our Ghost-Controlling Society's elite Ghost-Controlling Master. Did you see the umbrella in her hand?"
"That's no ordinary umbrella, it's a Ghost Artifact, and it houses a Danger Level ghost."
"She is the strongest among the third-level Ghost-Controlling Masters."
Tang Fang praised Yun Lin lavishly in front of Mo Lin.
Mo Lin instinctively touched the crystal blue longsword in his hand.
"Tang, what's the situation now?" Yun Lin's voice was soft, giving off a gentle feeling.
"The situation is terrible, we've already lost three Ghost-Controlling Masters." Tang Fang said with a furrowed brow and a worried look.
Yun Lin's slender fingers tapped the black umbrella.
A black shadow surged out.
A faceless ghost appeared, floating behind Yun Lin.
This ghost had no discernible features, just a ghostly shadow, a mass of darkness.
The ghost whispered something softly in Yun Lin's ear.
Yun Lin nodded, then signaled Tang Fang to enter the abandoned building.
If Mo Lin donned his Yin Department robe, the ghost might recognize his identity as a Yin Messenger and not dare to appear.
Mo Lin followed beside Tang Fang, entering the abandoned building together.
As for the others, they stayed outside standing guard. These were just ordinary people, they didn't dare enter the abandoned building.
"You're new here, right?" Yun Lin asked upon seeing Mo Lin's unfamiliar face.
"Yes."
"Stay close to me. If we encounter a ghost, I can protect you." With the intention of protecting the newcomer, Yun Lin motioned for Mo Lin to follow her closely.
"Creak, creak..."
The sound of feet on stones echoed in the empty abandoned building.
Yun Lin and Tang Fang walked on tiptoe, occasionally looking back.
At first, it was fine... but the two were unusually cautious, as if something was behind them.
The creepy atmosphere suddenly escalated.
"Boom.."
Something made a noise.
Yun Lin immediately exclaimed, "What was that?"
Tang Fang was so frightened she quickly retreated, then turned to look behind her.
"I accidentally stepped on a stone."
This was, after all, an abandoned building, with stones everywhere.
It was normal for Mo Lin to step on a stone.
But did these two have to react so exaggeratedly?
"Oh." Tang Fang responded and then glanced again behind Mo Lin.
This action made Mo Lin's hair stand on end.
There was nothing behind him, so what was she always looking at back there?
Couldn't they just walk normally?
Originally, there was nothing scary about.. coming in to catch a ghost.. finish the job..
Just that simple.
But their actions instantly maxed out the horror feeling.
It was around midnight, and the inside of the abandoned building was pitch black.
Isn't this just people scaring people?
Tang Fang again turned her head to look behind Mo Lin.
Mo Lin couldn't resist and also glanced behind him, but there was nothing there.
Even though he knew there was nothing, Tang Fang's repeated turning made Mo Lin subconsciously feel like something was behind him.
This Tang Fang, what was her issue? Instead of checking her own back, she always liked to look behind Mo Lin.
Mo Lin wasn't afraid of ghosts, but it still made him uneasy....
Wasn't this building a creepy atmosphere?
Mo Lin stopped in his tracks, slightly furrowing his brows.
He suddenly realized there were two ghost qis here, one very weak, the other very strong.
There should be two ghosts, one weaker than the other.
The direction they were heading toward was where the weaker ghost was.
The stronger ghost was in another direction.
"What's wrong? Did you see something?"
Whether it was the environment or Tang Fang's tone,
This sentence inexplicably carried a sense of horror, making one tense up unconsciously.
"Nothing, I'll go this way." Mo Lin slowly said to Tang Fang, pointing in the opposite direction.
Leaving that sentence, Mo Lin turned and walked in the other direction.
"A newcomer, probably hasn't experienced life and death, got scared." Tang Fang commented as she looked at Mo Lin's back.
"We all start as newcomers; I was quite scared during my first ghost-catching mission too in the beginning."
Suddenly... the ghost next to Yun Lin sensed something and dashed forward, followed closely by Yun Lin.
....
Mo Lin didn't want to walk with Tang Fang and her group.
The two were too jumpy and liked to create a scary vibe,
So Mo Lin took the stairs up to the second floor.
As soon as he reached the second floor, Mo Lin felt something blocking his way, looking down he saw a body severed at the waist.
It was probably killed by a ghost.
A strange cold air wafted over.
Mo Lin looked up, and suddenly a face appeared pressed closely to his own.
No warning at all.
This face appeared before Mo Lin and then began to decay...
At the same time, the ghost swung its hand, sending a wave of black qi rushing toward Mo Lin, trying to slay him.
Mo Lin extended his hand to block the attack of the black qi.
Mo Lin flicked his hand and used the Soul Chain Ghost Skill.
A chain flew out, instantly binding the ghost.
The ghost tried to struggle, but it was no use; rather than freeing itself, the binding tightened.
