Lu Jihan pressed down hard on Shana. "Calm down, Shana! Don't get worked up!"
She watched helplessly as they pushed Amu into the operating room. The two heavy doors shut mercilessly in front of her, and time seemed to freeze, not moving an inch for a very long while.
Shana sat blankly on the bench outside the operating room, the muscle under her right eye twitching uncontrollably.
Song Yinyin came over and sat beside her, placing a hand on her shoulder and gently patting it.
Shana wanted to give her a smile, but she couldn't even lift the corners of her lips. Everything around them was in chaos, her ears flooded with all kinds of sounds—the clatter of metal instruments, doctors and nurses occasionally talking, the beeping of machines, and so on…
The noises drifted near and far, muddled and oppressive, making it unbearable.
She simply covered her ears and curled up on the bench.
