"Riley Thompson, you're going abroad in a few days. Don't come back until after the New Year." Lily Shaw wore a slight smile on her face. She could already imagine the expression Riley would make when he heard this, and what he'd say next.
"What? Lily, what do you mean by this? I won't go!" Riley shouted angrily at Lily over the phone. This was the first time he'd ever spoken to her this way.
He couldn't stop himself from thinking of one possibility: did Lily find out about his feelings for her, that they weren't innocent, so she wanted to drive him out of Aethel?
Once this thought popped into his head, Riley couldn't calm down anymore. Before Lily could explain, he shouted again, "Lily, I don't care what you think, I won't leave you!"
The smile on Lily Shaw's pretty face deepened. She knew Riley so well. The moment she spoke, she'd already guessed how he would react.
Whether Riley saw her as just a sister or as the object of a secret crush, it actually didn't bother Lily much.
