Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: The Groom Runs Away from the Wedding

October 10th. Today is Lily Shaw and Miles Morgan's wedding day.

From the moment they decided to get married to the wedding itself, it took less than half a month.

Because the timeline was so rushed, Lily Shaw felt a little dissatisfied.

But Miles Morgan told her the wedding was arranged hastily because he wanted to walk into the hall of marriage with her as soon as possible.

Just that one heartwarming sentence, and she had no more complaints.

Because Lily Shaw had cut ties with The Shaw Family five years ago, only relatives from her grandmother's side and her best friend Mandy Young came to her wedding.

The Morgan Family was wealthy and influential, and Miles Morgan was their only son. If they hadn't watched Lily Shaw grow up, they would never have allowed Miles to marry her.

The Morgan Family's sole heir, President of The Morgan Consortium, Miles Morgan was marrying. In Silvercrest, everyone related to The Morgans, even remotely, showed up.

So, this wedding was enormous, nearly five hundred people attending.

At this moment, Lily Shaw was sitting in the dressing room, and her friend Mandy Young suddenly rushed in, face red and hurriedly and gently sent the makeup artist out.

"Lily, do you know your sister Crystal Shaw is having her ceremony today, in the same church?" Mandy Young hesitated for a while, deciding to give Lily Shaw a small warning, to cushion the blow.

Dressed in a gorgeous, floor-length wedding dress, Lily Shaw's expression froze instantly, her tone flat: "I don't know. I already have nothing to do with that family."

Crystal Shaw, her half-sister who's only two months younger than her, was also having her ceremony in this church today? The groom must be that "golden husband" her wonderful father found for her, right?

Mandy Young lowered her voice: "Lily, do you know Miles Morgan and Crystal Shaw were together before?"

"What? Miles never told me any of this." Lily Shaw's gloved hands clenched the dress tightly, a wild and cliché thought flashed in her mind: "Mandy, did you see something?"

Mandy Young furrowed her brow, squatted down and gripped Lily's hands, enunciating each word: "Lily, Miles Morgan and Crystal Shaw were together for three years!"

Three years? So Crystal Shaw was Miles Morgan's mysterious lover all along? Miles Morgan, why are you marrying me?

Meanwhile, in Crystal Shaw's dressing room.

Miles Morgan, dressed in formal attire, stood with his hands at his sides, gazing intently at Crystal's alluring, delicate face.

Crystal felt Miles's heated gaze and slowly stood to look him in the eye.

Her nose tingled, and before she could lower her head, tears rolled down from her eyes, one drop after another.

Miles Morgan had never seen Crystal Shaw look so beautiful. The instant she lowered her head, he walked to her almost involuntarily and took her hand: "Crystal, you're so beautiful today."

Crystal Shaw gently wiped away her tears, forcing a smile onto her fragile face: "I didn't expect you'd still be willing to come see me. Miles, please believe me—I only love you."

Miles Morgan gripped her hand tightly, his stormy gaze fixed on her face, angrily questioning her: "You only love me? Then why are you marrying someone else? Is this your love?"

"Miles, I know you blame me. But I had no choice—the Shaw Family only has one daughter, me." More tears fell from Crystal Shaw's eyes, and her face showed a hint of grievance.
