Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Giving Wen Siyuan a Piece of My Mind

The people planting rice nearby were shocked.

"Lin Xiang! What the hell are you doing!"

Wen Siyuan erupted with anger as he sprang up from the paddy field.

His glasses were dirty, and Wen Siyuan could hardly see clearly. All he saw was a blurred figure as he awkwardly wiped his glasses and put them back on his face.

Lin Xiang blurted out, "You're the weird one! Snatching someone's food in broad daylight."

She was worried the mud on him would splash onto her bun.

People working nearby thought this girl must've taken the wrong meds today! Usually, whenever they saw Smartie Wen, they would cozy up to him, eager to give him the best stuff.

After all, Smartie Wen was clean-looking, unlike those men in the village who were tanned dark from working all day. Many girls in the village liked him.

Plus, Smartie Wen was a well-educated city guy. If they could latch onto him, they might end up marrying into a city, just like Lin Xiang was planning.

"Lin Xiang, take a good look, it's me, me! Wen Siyuan!" Wen Siyuan thought Lin Xiang hadn't recognized him.

Lin Xiang came to her senses, "Ah...it's you..."

The hypocritical male supporting character from the novel!

As a city-educated youth, he was quite popular in the Li Hua Team, especially when he got notified to prepare to return to the city.

But Lin Xiang knew this guy was rotten to the core.

He would praise people, making them think he was interested in them, so they'd keep sending him gifts to please him.

And this guy liked Liu Pei, but since Liu Pei liked Lin Yun, he often tripped Lin Yun up secretly.

So it wasn't because Smartie Wen disliked Lin Xiang that Lin Yun didn't help her.

He knew Smartie Wen was a hypocrite, and if Lin Xiang really got together with him, she'd have tough days ahead.

Unfortunately, the original Lin Xiang was dead set on marrying Smartie Wen and never listened to advice, resenting Lin Yun for not helping her and letting others seize the opportunity first.

Thinking this, Lin Xiang felt the original owner was stupid, but the man before her was even more disgusting.

Wen Siyuan, having worked all morning and feeling hungry, hurriedly said when he heard Lin Xiang recognize him, "It's me. You probably didn't see clearly earlier. You're here to deliver my lunch, right!"

He reached out to take the bowl.

Lin Xiang smiled, "Yeah...I delivered..."

The next moment, she slapped the back of Wen Siyuan's head, "I'll give you a big slap, sponge off women all day long. How dare you!"

For the second time, Wen Siyuan landed face first and was a bit broken.

"Lin Xiang! You damn shrew!"

"So what? Hit me then?" Lin Xiang couldn't care less about what others in the village said, opting for madness, "What's our relationship that you expect food from me? Today it's from me, tomorrow from 'Erhua', the day after from 'Sandie'! How dare you call yourself well-educated, how are you so shameless!"

"You!" Wen Siyuan's dignity was utterly destroyed, and he tried to reach and cover Lin Xiang's mouth.

Lin Xiang ran as fast as a loach.

Someone noticed something was wrong and quickly sought out Lin Yun.

At that moment, Lin Yun's head ached, his body was hot, and his lips were dry. Hearing someone say, "Mouse! Your Second Girl went to find Smartie Wen again..."

Lin Yun pursed his lips.

At this time, seeking Smartie Wen must be to deliver food.

He lowered his head, ready to continue working, but then heard a woman say, "They got into a fight!"

Hearing this, Lin Yun instinctively grabbed a hoe and headed over.

Not only did Lin Xiang run, but she also stuffed the bun into her pocket and picked up stones from the ground to throw at Wen Siyuan as she fled.

Seeing Lin Yun, she immediately rushed over, "Brother! He tried to snatch my food! When I refused, he called me a shrew!"

Lin Yun shot a sharp look at Wen Siyuan.

Having worked all year, his muscular build and six-foot height gave him a certain aura, at least one that a scrawny scholar like Wen Siyuan couldn't rival.

Standing behind Lin Yun gave Lin Xiang an immense sense of security.

She offered the bun from her pocket to Lin Yun, "Brother, you hardly ate anything last night, and you came to work this morning. I made this bun for you, try it and see if it's good!"

Lin Yun was taken aback.

He thought it was meant for Wen Siyuan. Surprised, he hesitated to take it when she handed it to him.

Wen Siyuan realized something was off about Lin Xiang today, but she had just insulted him loudly, and the nearby villagers had heard everything.

Standing up straight, he said, "Lin Xiang! Everyone knows you're a shrew! But today you publicly slandered me, ruining my reputation. I demand an apology!"

"Apologize? For what?" Lin Xiang, seeing Lin Yun hesitating, stuffed the bun into his hands and turned to bicker with Wen Siyuan, "Didn't you take things from women? Didn't you eat their food? I brought these for my brother, and you grabbed it without a word, did I say wrong?"

"You used to come to me!" Wen Siyuan justified himself, "I... I just misunderstood!"

Lin Xiang placed her hands on her hips, "Folks, come judge! He admitted he accepted things I gave! Isn't that taking from women!"

People gathered from every direction felt Lin Xiang was right.

"You offered it to me!" Wen Siyuan gritted his teeth, "I took it for your dignity! I was being kind!"

Several girls around Lin Xiang's age came over.

Not understanding the context, they echoed, "Yes, Smartie Wen considered your reputation, girl, you can't slander him just because he doesn't like you."

Lin Xiang didn't recognize them, but she knew the ones mentioned in the book: Erhua, Sandie, and others like Zhaodie, Laifeng.

She pointed randomly, "Did you give him something? And did he say you're a good girl and whoever marries you will be lucky?"

The indicated girl blushed and nodded.

"And you, did you also give him something, and did he shamelessly say that you're the best to him here?"

Lin Xiang pointed to another, and she nodded too.

She asked several others, all the same.

Several of them and their families were working in the fields, and upon realizing their daughters had also given things to Smartie Wen, looked exasperated.

Where's the dignity! The dignity of a lady!

"There you have it!" Lin Xiang clapped her hands, "Not proactive, no refusal, you take what people give and praise them, giving them hope! Do you know what that's called? It's called fishing! You've all turned the village girls into those fish flapping on the line in the river!"

Everyone thought of the fish in the river, isn't fishing just like that, not proactive, giving hope, and once hooked, not refusing.

With a puff, not sure who started it, they burst into laughter.

Wen Siyuan didn't understand this meaning but knew it wasn't good, and after a long pause, managed to say, "You... you're talking nonsense!"

He wanted to charge forward, but when Lin Yun stood in front of Lin Xiang, Wen Siyuan dared not.

Lin Xiang climbed onto Lin Yun's shoulder, preparing to argue further with Wen Siyuan, but found Lin Yun's body burning hot.

Hey, something's off.

She quickly reached out to feel Lin Yun's forehead, exclaiming, "Ah! Brother, you have a fever!"
