Chapter 17 - Chapter 17: Hiring Employees

Jiang Xin was lost in thought, suddenly a brilliant idea struck her.

This afternoon, while setting up her stall at the market, she was worried about not finding someone to help her.

But now...

Jiang Xin's eyes lit up remarkably as she stared at the man.

Isn't there a ready candidate right here?

The man right in front of her needed money, and she could offer him a stable earning job to maintain basic living.

Moreover, the supplies she had in her space could be used to help him, which would also be a good deed.

This man had exhausted his resources to pay for his mother's medical treatment, he must be a good person, a dutiful son no matter what.

Once he started earning money, won't life look more hopeful?

It's simply a win-win situation.

Jiang Xin's sudden idea made her exceptionally excited.

She looked at the man as though she had found a treasure.

The man felt a bit uneasy being looked at by her like that.

He cleared his throat twice and stammered as he asked:

"What's wrong?"

Jiang Xin's eyes rolled, she thought for a while, and then said straightforwardly:

"Well, I have something I need your help with."

"Just hang on a moment!"

After speaking, Jiang Xin ran to the spot where she had originally planned to cross the bridge.

Because it was dark, it was the best cover.

So, she walked a bit further away, taking the opportunity to take supplies out from her space to give to the man without being noticed.

First, she took out two sets of brand new men's clothing from her space, and then, she took out a bunch of daily necessities and food items.

After putting the items in the bag, Jiang Xin carried the bag and ran back to the man, stuffing all of it into his arms.

"These are things I bought for my family, I think you really need them, so just use them first."

The man was caught off guard as Jiang Xin shoved a mound of items into his hands, and a glance at the weight showed they contained quite a few good things.

He refused:

"No, no, how can this be!"

"We're not even familiar, how can I take your things?"

The man tried to push the items back into Jiang Xin's hands.

Seeing this, Jiang Xin hurriedly said.

"I already said, I need your help, that's why I'm giving you these things."

"I haven't even mentioned my requirements yet, why are you in such a hurry to refuse?"

The man looked bewildered, and by the moonlight, he examined Jiang Xin's face carefully.

Although it wasn't clear, from the faint light and her outfit, it was evident she was a young girl.

He really didn't know how he could be of help to her at her age.

"What kind of help?"

It's wrong to accept benefits without contributing; although he needed these things, he didn't feel right taking them if he couldn't help her.

This time, Jiang Xin didn't hesitate and spoke directly, presenting her idea:

"I want to hire you."

"You just happen to need a stable job too, I think you should consider it, it's a win-win situation."

"I'm setting up a stall at the market to earn some pocket money, but as a girl, it's not quite appropriate for me to be too out there, so I want to find someone to help sell the goods."

After listening to Jiang Xin, the man slowly raised his head.

He thought Jiang Xin, this young girl, was way too naive.

They had just interacted for such a short time, and she trusted him like this.

Doesn't she know how dangerous people can be? What if he agreed to her face and then ran away with her goods later?

He opened his mouth, wanting to persuade Jiang Xin to be rational and not to trust strangers easily.

Including himself.

But before he could speak, Jiang Xin continued talking.

"Today can count as the beginning of our acquaintance, meeting each other has its fate."

"I also know you must be puzzled as to why I didn't choose someone else but you to help me."

"I believe in using people without suspicion, and not using people I doubt. You were willing to go bankrupt to treat your mother's illness, from this point, it shows you are a good person!"

After she spoke, the man finally stopped refusing.

He nodded, as if agreeing.

However, he was still a bit uncertain about whether he could take on the job Jiang Xin offered.

So, shortly after nodding in agreement, he hesitantly added:

"I'll give it a try, but if it doesn't work, you'll have to find someone else."

Because he really needed a livelihood now, the man no longer refused.

He also understood clearly in his heart that everything Jiang Xin did was to help him.

He was deeply grateful, though he said nothing.

After a moment of silence, the man realized he hadn't even asked for the other person's name from the time Jiang Xin rescued him until now.

So, he spoke proactively:

"Lin Ye, my name."

It was only after he spoke that Jiang Xin realized.

It turns out that after talking for so long, they still didn't know each other's names.

So, she quickly stretched out a hand and said to Lin Ye:

"Hello, my name is Jiang Xin, very happy to work with you."

Seeing this, Lin Ye also extended his hand, and the two shook hands in the air, marking their acquaintance.

Nowadays, communication is indeed inconvenient.

Lin Ye and Jiang Xin didn't live in the same village.

Thus, contacting each other was a bit difficult.

Jiang Xin thought about it and said to Lin Ye:

"Okay, tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, wait for me at the entrance to the market."

"I'll move the goods over then, and you just help me sell them there."

"I'll pay you sixty yuan for the first month; as for bonuses and commissions, it will depend on your performance."

The wages Jiang Xin proposed were no small amount.

Sixty yuan a month was already the salary level of a senior worker in town.

Lin Ye agreed naturally after hearing this.

Moreover, he even thought it might be too much.

Right now, he was the only one in his family, and he didn't need to support a family, so as long as he had some wages to maintain a living, he was satisfied.

Lin Ye was inclined to refuse, to ask Jiang Xin to pay him less.

But, thinking about the situation at home and the debts that were still owed, he silently swallowed the words he was about to speak.

He nodded, and then he heard Jiang Xin say she would move the goods herself.

Lin Ye quickly interjected:

"Move the goods? That's heavy work, let me do it as a man, it's quite a strain for you as a girl."

"You hired me, so you're my boss; it's only natural for me to work for you, please don't feel bad about it!"
