Chapter 52 - Chapter 52 Forcing Is Pointless

Upon hearing this, Shang Chi stopped all his actions, and his thin lips left hers.

The lust in his eyes vanished instantly due to the woman's refusal. He clenched his back teeth tightly, staring at her with a deep gaze, "What if I insist?"

The man's voice was low and cold, as if he was trying to suppress something.

For some reason, Jiang Zhi felt that there seemed to be a trace of imperceptible humility in the man's domineering words.

But she knew it was impossible. He was Shang Chi, who stood high above and made everyone tremble.

How could he be humble?

What could make him humble?

The man had made such a request. The relationship between her and him was inherently unequal. Could she still refuse?

The answer was no.

Jiang Zhi raised her alluring fox - like eyes and stared straight at the man, "Then come on."

After saying that, she reached out to take off her clothes.

Shang Chi didn't expect the woman to say that. His expression paused, and he became completely sober.

He grabbed Jiang Zhi's hand, his voice detached and indifferent, "Forcing is pointless. I'll have someone bring the documents tomorrow."

After speaking, Shang Chi strode towards the French window, took a cigarette and a lighter from the desk, turned his back to Jiang Zhi, and lit a cigarette.

The slow smoke drifted away from the man's face, and his upright figure seemed inexplicably lonely.

Jiang Zhi pursed her lips and looked at the man's back, her heart filled with mixed emotions.

She knew she was in the wrong today, but the matter with Jiang Xinian upset her, and she just wanted to cut ties with him quickly.

Therefore, her emotions flared up.

Jiang Zhi took a deep breath and said to the man, "I'm sorry."

Hearing the sound of the study door closing, Shang Chi's hand that wasn't holding a cigarette clenched tightly. The veins on the back of his hand bulged, and his back teeth were almost clenched to pieces.

He took a fierce drag on his cigarette and strode to the cabinet where the wine was placed.

He took a bottle of foreign wine from the hand holding the cigarette, opened the cap, and then tilted his head back to drink directly from the bottle.

The expensive foreign wine was poured into his stomach like water. He drank in a hurry, and the oak - colored liquid spilled from the corner of his mouth, flowing down his hard jawline, past his constantly rolling Adam's apple, and disappearing into his black collar.

After drinking more than half of the foreign wine, the rich and fragrant liquid burned his throat.

Shang Chi placed the foreign wine bottle heavily on the table, propped his hands on the edge of the table, and his body slightly bent.

The light in the study was not bright, making him look a bit decadent.

He panted slightly, his eyes red.

After a long while, he slowly closed his eyes, took a deep breath, and straightened his body.

When he opened his eyes again, the coldness in the man's eyes returned to normal.

He flicked the half - burned gray cigarette butt into the ashtray, put the cigarette holder in his mouth, squinted his eyes and took a hard puff. The thick smoke overflow from his mouth.

Shang Chi picked up his phone and called Zhou Xu. His eyes were as cold as frost, "Let the action proceed over there, and also, the scale can be maximized."

Zhou Xu was stunned for a moment, then replied, "Okay."

After Jiang Zhi went out, she didn't return to the bedroom but went to the terrace on the second floor.

She opened the chat window with Jiang Xinian, and his message immediately came into view.

Jiang Xinian: [Zhizhi, it's been twenty minutes. Haven't you got the certificate yet?]

The teasing and mocking meaning was very strong.

Jiang Zhi didn't expect that the marriage certificate was so coincidentally left at the old house.

She gritted her teeth and sent a message to Jiang Xinian.

Jiang Zhi: [I forgot where I put it. I'll show it to you tomorrow.]

When Jiang Xinian saw the message from Jiang Zhi, his uneasy heart immediately relaxed.

At first, Jiang Zhi responded crisply, as if she could show him the documents in the next second, and then his heart was in his throat.

He was afraid that she would really send him a photo of her posing with another man against a red background.

Slowly, as time passed minute by minute, she still didn't move.

He immediately sent a message to provoke her.

There was no response, as if it had sunk into the sea.

This time, the woman's lack of response instead made him feel at ease.

Ten minutes, twenty minutes passed, and she had no reaction at all.

After half an hour, when he was about to send another message, she finally replied.

Jiang Xinian looked at each word she sent with excitement, and his hand holding the phone trembled slightly.

He knew that she was just lying to anger him.

If she had really gotten married to someone, how could she not know where she put her marriage certificate?

And she said she would show it to him tomorrow, so he would wait and see what she could show him tomorrow.

Jiang Xinian replied to Jiang Zhi very amiably with one word: [Okay.]

Recalling the man's voice on the phone with the woman, it sounded familiar, but he couldn't remember where he had heard it before.

He searched through Jiang Zhi's information in his mind.

He remembered that after her father had an accident, she lived with her uncle's family, and she had a cousin who was four years older than her and seemed to be studying medicine abroad.

Could it be that he had come back?

Jiang Xinian felt a little annoyed. In the past, hatred had blinded his eyes, and all his understanding of Jiang Zhi was limited to the stage where her father killed his parents.

When she was chasing after him, he completely ignored her current family situation.

And she rarely mentioned it in front of him.

Now that he thought about it, it was very likely that Jiang Zhi was using her cousin to deceive him together.

Jiang Xinian's fingers caressed the sentimental photo of the two on the screen, and his eyes narrowed.

Whether it was true or false, he would know tomorrow.

The next day, when Jiang Zhi woke up, a strong and powerful arm was habitually draped over her waist, and behind her was the man's solid chest.

She had originally thought that because of the unpleasantness in the study and the man's proud nature, he would have a cold war with her for a few days until she yielded and apologized.

But that wasn't the case.

He returned to the bedroom as if nothing had happened, first took a shower, and then hugged her from behind.

The only difference was that even after taking a shower, the strong smell of alcohol on the man still hadn't dissipated and kept drilling into Jiang Zhi's nose.

She didn't know how much he had drunk.

Jiang Zhi frowned and wanted to get up to make him some hangover soup, but as soon as she moved, the man held her tightly, making her unable to move.

The man buried his entire handsome face deep in the back of her neck, and the warm breath burned her neck, making it tingly and itchy.

His low and hoarse voice came muffled from the back of her neck into her ears, "Where are you going?"

There was tension and unease hidden in the man's words that Jiang Zhi couldn't detect.

Jiang Zhi placed her hand on the man's extremely strong arm and said softly, "I'll make you some hangover soup."

The man's body imperceptibly stiffened for a moment, and the arm around the woman's waist tightened a little more.

His voice was as light as water, "No need, sleep."

Jiang Zhi didn't insist anymore and let him be.

Gradually, she fell asleep in the man's arms.

Not long after Jiang Zhi woke up, the man also got up. However, the atmosphere was a bit subtle, probably due to the unpleasantness of yesterday.

After breakfast, the man took the initiative to talk to her in a very calm voice, "I'll go get the documents for you right away."
