Chapter 12 : Battling the Great Wolf
Some wild wolves were about to get their fangs into his skin but Axton knew better than to let them succeed.
Not wanting to fall prey to these wild beasts, Axton activated his enchantment armour.
The item manifested on his body in less than a second and subconsciously, he triggered the skill that came with it.
[Enchantment]
With the enchantment skill active, his body emitted white light that spread across an area of 5 metre radius around him.
In an instant, the wild wolves who had been unfortunate to fall into the range of the enchantment skill were struck by it and remained dazzled and frozen on the spot.
They surrounded Axton and yet they could not attack him despite their snarling and drooling revealing their obvious intentions to tear the human apart.
Axton quickly scanned the area, searching for his main target.
"I need to find the Great Wolf quickly."
There was no point to him wasting his time with the small fries anymore.
*Howl*
Other wolves who managed to remain outside the periphery of the enchantment skill howled loudly before charging forward to attack Axton.
Little did they know why their fellow wolves were rooted to one spot until they entered inside the range of the enchantment and they were dazed too.
'There it is!' Axton exclaimed in his mind, having found the Great Wolf.

The Great Wolf stood on a large rock ahead, revealing its big figure and intimidating stature as it howled at the sky.
The Great Wolf was watching silently as Axton massacred its kin.
Its howling drew more wild wolves who revealed themselves from behind the Great Wolves, standing close for a minute as they prepared to join in the attack against the human.
"Damn it!"
Axton was frustrated, not seeing an end to the number of this wolf pack. Moreover, the time limit of his enchantment skill was almost down to zero.
Axton already equipped his flash boots and sped through the pack, cutting down as many as he could while proceeding to where the Great Wolf was.
With additional 10 points added to his agility, Axton covered the distance in no time.
He did not want the wolves to come for him first, because if they did, he would have to fight the Great Wolf at his base strength with boosts from his items.
That was, without a single doubt, going to be his death!
One versus one battle was the one situation that did not favour his Battle God talent and he, in his base form, was no form for the Great Wolf.
However, if he could take the fight to them before the wolf lackeys attacked him, he still had a chance to exploit the effects of Battle God since it would count as multiple enemies against him.
In terms of ranking, the Great Wolf was a grade 1 beast and a level 4 one, its stats were strong.
The wolf was wise and cautious, choosing to use its [Great Howling] to make its subordinates do its bidding as opposed to fighting on its own.
The Great Wolf sensed Axton's hostility towards it and howled, commanding the wolves around him to stay their ground and wait for him to bring the fight to them.
Great Howling did not only force those around him to stay, the skill called up more wolves that appeared out of nowhere and also commanded those that survived the fight with Axton to retreat to the Great Wolf's side.
With the number of wolves to fight, the ordinary player would not survive the battle.
However, Axton smiled as he approached the wolves.
Ordinarily, killing the Great Wolf would have been an impossible task since he did not have the attack power to match.
He finally understood why Jackal the Hunter was no match for the grade 1 beast.
However, the Great Wolf had made a fatal mistake by commanding its underlings to stay around him.

The sole of his flash boots touched the ground and immediately, Axton vanished in the blink of an eye, leaving only a blur of himself.
The wolves were utterly powerless against the attack power and speed of their supposed prey.
Axton tore through their ranks like lightning and before the Great Wolf could respond after lifting its massive claws or even issue any howling commands to restrategise, Axton's flash sword had cut clean through its neck, causing the head to fall to the ground.
*Swoosh*
Axton was clearly faster and stronger at this point and in a single attack, he killed the Great Wolf.
The head landed on the ground and rolled for a bit.
Seeing this, the other wolves lost the will to fight and started to retreat one after the other, surprising Axton.
There was horror and fear in their eyes as they looked at Axton before they all fled the scene.
The death of their leader was more than enough to finally get into their heads that the human was far superior to them.
"Phew! If I did not have Battle God, there was no way I would have succeeded in this quest."
As he contemplated on why the wolves did not proceed with attacking further, Axton understood that it must have been a terrifying scene to witness.
First, he easily overpowered them and then followed with killing the strongest of them in a single attack.
If he was a wolf, he would run with his tail between his legs too.
Axton, on the other hand, was racing against time and did not have all the time in his hand to play around.
Jackal the Hunter had given him just one hour to kill the Great Wolf or risk failing the task.
He was not going to lose because he wanted to farm small fries.
