Prologue
I closed my eyes in terror, surrendering myself to the inevitable hands of fate. Two minutes hadn't passed before I was lifted up by a definition of masculinity and his cologne travelled up to my nostrils and I held my breath to prevent any more passage. A scent that I had always loved, a scent that I felt proud of, a scent that I thought was magnificent was the scent that had made me held my breath, is now the same scent that had made me scrunch my face, it's the exact scent that had now irked me.
"Open your eyes Lantern"
Obediently I opened them, because somehow I knew the consequences. An endearment that would send a hundred butterflies and more up to my belly. Yeah! He had said I was his Lantern because just like a lantern I had lightened up his world. But I'm not his any longer, I don't belong anyone.
"Astonishingly this was always my aim, for you to hate me, for you detest me, for you to see me as a monster, but for a reason, He paused a bit and exhaled before resuming. -You might not believe me. I do love you, you might not understand but one day you will"
