Chapter 75 - The Eve Of Ruin

The wind was different that night.

Even the stars seemed dimmer — pale embers flickering against the canvas of a dying sky.

Across the realms, every god, titan, and mortal felt it: an invisible vibration, a pulse in the fabric of existence that promised both ending and rebirth.

The King of Erasure was stirring again.

Mount Oryx – The Fallen King's Summit

Megumi Valentine stood alone atop the obsidian cliffs of Mount Oryx, his cloak fluttering violently behind him. His eyes — gold laced with faint silver veins — stared into the horizon. The power within him was shifting again, unpredictable, dangerous. The orb of divine and demonic energy fused with his soul glowed faintly through his chest, pulsing in rhythm with the trembling of the world.

Behind him, Ava approached quietly. She had wrapped herself in a white mantle to guard against the mountain's cold, but the chill biting at her was not from the air — it was from fear. Fear for him.

"You haven't slept," she said softly.

Megumi didn't turn. "I can't. The closer he gets, the louder his voice becomes."

Ava swallowed hard. "You mean the King of Erasure?"

Megumi nodded, his tone quiet. "He whispers… fragments. Destruction. Regret. Hunger. It's like he's clawing at my soul, trying to find a way back in."

Ava stepped closer, resting a trembling hand against his back. "We'll find a way to stop him, together."

He looked over his shoulder at her — tired, but smiling faintly. "You always say that."

"Because I mean it," she whispered.

For a moment, silence blanketed the mountaintop. The world below glowed faintly — faint cities of light where mortals still lived, unaware that the fate of everything hung in the balance.

The Council of Olympus

High above, the halls of Olympus echoed with uneasy murmurs.

The gods stood once more — not in arrogance or rivalry this time, but in shared fear.

Zeus' lightning crackled faintly as he addressed the assembly. "We have only hours before the barrier between our realms breaks down. If the King of Erasure escapes the void, even Uranus' sacrifice will have been for nothing."

Athena stepped forward, her silver armor reflecting the torches. "The mortals below can sense the instability. They call it a storm — but it's far greater than that. It's reality bleeding."

Poseidon folded his arms, his expression grave. "Then what's our play, brother?"

Before Zeus could answer, the massive doors opened, and Cronus entered, his presence commanding silence. His golden aura flickered like an ancient flame — weary, but unyielding.

"I've spoken with Leonidas," Cronus said. "Megumi's preparing for the worst. But he needs time."

"Time we don't have," Apollo muttered.

Cronus' gaze sharpened. "Then we buy him some."

Zeus nodded, his tone shifting from dread to determination. "So be it. The Olympians and Titans will stand as one. This time, there will be no divisions — no war between us. Only the protection of creation itself."

For the first time since the dawn of the cosmos, gods and titans clasped hands in solemn unity.

The Demon King's Domain

Leonidas returned to the realm of shadows — his domain, once pulsing with infernal energy, now quiet, focused.

His soldiers, the demon legions, knelt as he entered the grand citadel.

"Prepare yourselves," Leonidas commanded, his voice booming through the halls. "We're not fighting for conquest this time. We're fighting for existence."

Nyx appeared from the darkness, her presence soft but commanding. "The gods fight beside us. I never thought I'd see the day."

Medusa smirked faintly. "Seems the end of all things makes strange allies."

Leonidas looked to both of them. "Gather what's left of our armies. If the King of Erasure returns, he'll strike first at Mount Oryx. That's where Megumi will make his stand."

Nyx frowned. "And if Megumi can't contain him?"

Leonidas' eyes darkened. "Then we'll fight to the last breath beside him."

Ava's Resolve

Later that night, Ava sat beside Megumi within the temple on the mountain's summit.

He was sitting cross-legged in silent meditation, the aura around him flickering — shifting from golden light to deep violet shadows and back again.

She watched him in silence, tracing the faint scar that now marked his chest — where the orb's energy had fused to his heart. It pulsed softly, like a second heartbeat.

"Do you regret it?" she asked suddenly.

"Regret what?" he replied, eyes still closed.

"Everything," she whispered. "The gods, the wars, your powers… me."

He finally opened his eyes, turning to her. "Never you."

She smiled faintly. "Then promise me, if things go wrong—"

"I won't let them," he interrupted, his tone firm.

"But if they do," she pressed, "promise me you'll come back. To me. To Chloe."

Megumi hesitated. He looked into her violet eyes — the same eyes that had once pulled him back from the edge of vengeance and madness. Slowly, he reached out and cupped her cheek. "Ava… I'll try. But if I can't—"

She shook her head fiercely, cutting him off. "Then I'll find you. Even if it takes a thousand years."

For a moment, they just stared at each other, the world outside fading to silence — two souls bound by love and tragedy, clinging to the fragile hope that the dawn would still come.

The Plan of Gods and Titans

Far below, in the depths of Olympus, Cronus and Athena worked tirelessly. Magical circles filled the chamber, each symbol carved in celestial flame and infernal shadow.

"This seal will require balance," Athena said. "We'll need a vessel strong enough to contain both divine and demonic frequencies. If we fail, the seal collapses instantly."

Cronus' eyes flickered. "Then we make the vessel the world itself."

Athena turned sharply. "You can't mean—"

"I do," Cronus interrupted. "If Megumi's body can't hold the seal forever, the world must."

Zeus entered, overhearing. "And if it costs us everything?"

Cronus smiled faintly. "Then it's a worthy end. We created this world… it's time we defended it."

The Calm Before

As dawn approached, the realms stood still.

The mortals below felt it in their dreams.

The demons paused their battles.

Even the stars seemed to hold their breath.

Megumi stood once more on the edge of Mount Oryx, watching the sunrise spread across the world. His aura shimmered faintly in the morning light — the golden warmth of divinity woven with the dark edge of shadow. He looked… human again. For the first time in centuries.

Ava joined him, wrapping her arms around him from behind. "Do you think the world will remember us?" she whispered.

"Maybe," he said quietly. "But even if they don't… I'll remember them."

Leonidas appeared in the distance, wings of dark flame unfurled. "They're ready," he called. "The gods, the titans, the demons — all of them. The King's energy is breaking through."

Megumi turned, his golden eyes reflecting the dawn. "Then it's time."

The air trembled.

The earth cracked.

And far beyond the clouds, the void screamed — a deep, ancient sound that made even the gods shudder.

Megumi drew in a slow breath, his aura igniting like wildfire.

"Let him come," he said softly.

"Let him see what a mortal heart can do."
