Chapter 37 - A God of Death

Why didn't I think of it before?

Strong sense of smell to even tell that I am a demigod, strength and speed higher than a normal human and pale face with red eyes that glow even brightly around blood.

A vampire.

I didn't know his canines were always this long or they just increased in size now. Red blood dripped down the archer's neck and sipped down his throat with a gulping sound. He soon finished and wiped his mouth with his hands and the archer's corpse looked as if all the moisture had just vanished from it.

"Go now. I can handle her with this."

A vampire grows stronger when they drink blood. It was a fact. Though vampires were rare and generally stayed hidden because they didn't like the sun much, I have read about them before.

I didn't know how Sylas was fighting in the sun that could make a vampire really uncomfortable, but now that there was no sunlight, he was stronger. And even more so after drinking the blood.

'I don't have another option but to leave this to him. Right now, splitting our roles was the best method.'

"Don't you dare die on me, Sylas" I swallowed all the questions I had and started making my way to the Small Market. I was worried about him but this was not a place to be foolish. Right now, he was powerful enough to defeat Victoria without much difficulty and even if couldn't defeat that veil lady, I was sure he could escape safely.

And with every second I stayed there, Isabelle would be in more and more danger.

I easily escaped the warehouse. For some reason, the veil lady didn't even try to stop me. Maybe she thought it was already a disadvantage to fight the two of us together? That also might be the reason that she told me about Isabelle to make me leave.

"Why didn't you stop him, Vincia? "

"Shut up! You went too far. I want answers, Sylas. Or should I call you the Doctor."

Sylas formed a much bitter face when he heard her words.

"Why? You don't like that name?"

"You talk too much" Sylas hissed.

"You think so? You should be grateful I was tolerating you. Last time you even made me go through that stinky sewers because of that guy."

"How funny. You ran away like a rat through the manhole because you knew you couldn't defeat him and now you are blaming me."

"I should have killed that guy much earlier. But now... you destroyed everything. What are you going to answer to them? Don't think I won't tell them what you did"

"What are you talking about Vincia? Do you not understand the situation? You are going to die here."

He put the metal sword in his ring and two long swords of blood appeared in his hands as he said that.

"You! You are going to betray them now? Do you know what you are trying to do? "

"What do you mean betray? I just worked for them a little to save my sister and now they neither tell me her situation nor they let me see her. I will go there and find out myself what those bastards are hiding."

"That is because you failed in Springbell" Vincia shouted with anger. She knew her position was a little disadvantageous right now.

"Hahaha... Do you really think I failed? First of all, that was your business, not mine. I was just helping you to manage that place."

"You left that place on purpose? D-don't tell me it was you who exposed those toothfangs."

"..."

Vincia's face distorted wildly in rage.

"Both you and that boy are going to die."

"Try it"

Vincia disappeared and reached near Sylas in just a second. Her skills had both the combination of invisibility and increasing her speed which was a perfect fit for assassination.

Just as she was about to go for his neck, a red coloured sword cut her hand into two.

"Ahhhhh... You-you... I will kill you!"

"Are you stupid? I can smell you, there's no way you can touch me with that untrained body of yours."

Vincia was staring at him with bloodshot eyes. Blood flooded out of her right hand that was missing its forearm.

"Without your skills, you are nothing more than a weakling."

Small Market, Lumina Town

Isabelle was keenly observing the people surrounding her. Although she didn't doubt she could kill three or four of them, there were just too many. They even took her ring that had her weapons, so there's no way she could put up a fight.

Moreover, there was no point in running away when she came here herself.

She was constantly thinking about how to proceed once she would meet her friends. She just hoped they were in a condition to fight, even a little.

Maria took her out of the inn without alerting any guards. After all, she studied every ins and outs of the inn for four months.

Then she met some people on the way and arrived here, a small alley near the 15th Street of the Small Market.

"What is she doing now? I don't know why she's so late." Maria constantly looked down at the pocket watch waiting for her superiors to arrive.

"They should be here anytime now." One of her associates confirmed.

Another associate who constantly eyed Isabelle with lustful eyes for a while said while making gulping sounds.

"H-hey hey Maria... D-do you think I can play with her some time?"

"Are you mad? Do you know what that crazy woman would do to you? "

Isabelle was very disgusted with all these men looking at her as they would jump at her any moment. She was so scared that she wanted to cry. But now, she had no choice but to appear strong in front of them.

Suddenly, someone grabbed her hand and pulled her. It was the man who had been looking at her with vulgar eyes since earlier.

"W-what do you think you are doing? "

"Don't worry... I won't do anything... I just wanted to see your pretty face."

Isabelle looked at Maria but she just sighed and ignored them. She wanted to shout for help or kill him here but only a drop of water fell down her eyes.

But just as he was about to touch her face...

Thud!

He fell down without a single noise.

"You... what did you do?" Maria snapped looking at her dead associate on the ground.

'Twang'

Thud!

'Twnag'

Thud!

Maria kept yelling at Isabelle at first but seeing that two other guys just dropped dead, she knew something was wrong. But it was harder to spot anything in the darkness of the alley where the moonlight was also very dim.

'What happened? Did the guards find out about the situation?' Isabelle didn't know what happened. She was nervous that they might decide to kill her friends because of this, but even so, she was more than grateful right now.

But, to her surprise, it was not one of her guards or someone from the stadium's security group.

Wearing a black coat fluttering in the wind with a portion of his long grey hair that could be seen underneath the large hood, Marcel Mistmer scanned the surroundings with his deep golden eyes.

His face didn't look like the handsome boy who she always saw fighting in the arena. The boy who always tried to avoid them but also was kind to them.

He looked much more unfamiliar to her.

Slice!

Without speaking anything, he swung his sword and those scums started their painful cry one after another. His sword, his hands, his coat and even his face grew more and more bloody every second as he sliced through without any emotion.

Maria took a few steps back and fell on the ground on her butt. Her whole mission that she wasted four months on turned upside down in just a second.

"W-who the hell are you!? Haha.. You think you are a hero or something? You..you don't know anything. The two girls are going to die because of you... Hahaha"

He didn't say anything. After killing the last one, he walked in her direction and placed his sword on her neck.

"Do you think I am stupid? Why don't you then tell me where you kept them? "

"Hahaha... Why will I tell..."

"Is it in that old warehouse? "

''What?"

For a second, she couldn't comprehend what she heard.

"I asked did you keep her friends in the warehouse of Diamond Corporation?"

"W-who are...?"

"Because I didn't see any hostages when I killed everyone there."

The crazy laugh that she had a while ago was now filled with... fear. And in a second, begging for her life seemed to be the only plausible way here.

"S-spare me... Please... I was w-wrong...wrong"

"Do you know someone named the Doctor?"

"No, no, no... I have never heard of it. Trust me"

"What about Mr.H? "

"Who? No I-I... "

Slice!

She couldn't complete her sentence as her head was no longer attached to her body.

Isabelle who heard the conversation didn't understand who Marcel was talking about. Of course she was smart enough to understand that her friends were not held captive and Maria lied to her. Though she felt stupid because she fell for it.

To be honest, she thought the chances of Maria lying to her were more, but what could she do. All those thoughts about 'but what if she is telling the truth' made her scared.

She looked ahead and saw the grey haired Marcel wiping the blood off his sword with a piece of clothing and his face was still cold as earlier.

Like every girl, she also read many stories in her childhood where a princess falls in great danger and a knight in shining armor arrives to save her on a horse.

She also fantasised about such incidents with herself. And now, her situation wasn't much different.

But the grey haired and golden eyed boy in front of her eyes didn't resemble a knight in shining armor in any way right now.

He looked scary, angry and somewhat like a remouseless killer.

If she had to think of something, then right now he resembled to...something like a...

...a god of death.
