Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: One Year Later!

Time flies. Almost a year has passed since the War of the Century, and the entire Jujutsu world has been quietly licking its wounds in the aftermath.

While the Jujutsu world has fallen into a period of calm recovery, the government education system has undergone dramatic reforms. Many forward-thinking Jujutsu masters are leading this change, most notably Geto Suguru and Gojo Satoru.

Although both were known as top-grade Jujutsu masters, neither Gojo nor Geto had particularly high standing in the Jujutsu world before the war—respected for their power, yes, but not widely revered. However, everything changed after the War of the Century.

All Jujutsu divisions that participated in the battle have now earned universal recognition. Ordinary civilians admire and respect them. Even the weaker Jujutsu factions are being swept up in this wave of respect and inspiration.

> Conforming to the crowd may be dangerous, but people inevitably do it—willingly or otherwise.

If you have strength but no reputation, people may fear you and keep their distance.

If you have strength and reputation, people will rally around you.

With Geto Suguru's call to arms, countless veteran Jujutsu masters began entering schools to teach and guide the new generation of Jujutsu users. The spotlight was now firmly fixed on these two figures—Geto and Gojo—and both felt subtle changes in their hearts.

After the war, Gojo Satoru gradually realized that power alone wasn't enough. Individual strength had its limits. Only by seeking companions and building alliances could one reach a truly meaningful destination.

As for Geto, he resented his own weakness.

He believed that it was a Jujutsu master's duty to protect ordinary people.

The more Jujutsu masters there were, the better.

During this period, aside from promoting educational reforms, Geto also continued to hunt and absorb special-grade Cursed Spirits to expand his abilities. Although they still worked closely, their personal paths slowly began to diverge—heading in opposite directions.

---

Meanwhile, James had been living a rather peaceful life. Over the course of the year, he had gradually recovered from his severe injuries.

> "I'm so disappointed that Shōko still hasn't mastered Reverse Cursed Technique to heal others!"

> Ieiri Shōko: "???"

Living in seclusion, James was now well aware of his growing fame. Every day, waves of people came to the great canyon to pray, kneel, or simply gawk in awe. Rumor had it that the government was planning to build a new, larger city over the ruins of Fukuoka.

> Tourism? In this economy?

Honestly, it made sense. Even Tengen had his fair share of admirers. And someone as publicly awe-inspiring as James? Of course he'd attract attention.

His swordsmanship experience was increasing steadily. Yamamoto's legacy was profound—enough for James to study for several lifetimes. It had also given him direction, something vital for a swordsman still considered a novice in the grand scheme.

> Not having a teacher is terrifying—especially when the Jujutsu world is practically a swordsmanship desert.

His Breathing Fusion technique had steadily improved through regular use, and James had a feeling it would undergo a dramatic evolution once it broke through to the next threshold.

Zhan Quan Zou Gui—his footwork and body techniques—were also advancing rapidly. Black Flash had entered the limit-breaking state. A new peak was on the horizon.

He was drawing closer and closer to the title of "God of Jujutsu Masters."

> "Level 2 Normal?" James frowned. "Seems like Level 2 Elite is a huge turning point."

The higher you climbed, the bigger the difference became. Even a cheat-like existence such as James had barely managed to defeat a Level 2 Elite like Tian Xiegui.

Of course, defeating someone of a higher level still caused massive shockwaves in the main world.

---

James pushed open the creaking wooden gate of the courtyard. A breeze passed through a nearby bamboo grove, rustling the leaves in a mesmerizing dance.

> "The place Gojo chose really is something."

As he stepped on fallen leaves, his figure gradually receded into the forest, until he finally vanished among the trees.

> "My wounds are healed. It's time to go visit some old friends."

---

In a quiet café in Tokyo, Gojo Satoru's radiant Six Eyes were fixed on the boy sitting across from him. Beside the child was a gentle-looking girl.

They stared at each other in silence for a long moment.

"You are...?"

"Mr. Gojo, our father told us to come to you," the girl said softly.

She had a calm and pleasant voice. This was Fushiguro Miki, the adopted sister of Fushiguro Megumi and stepdaughter of Fushiguro Jinji.

Fushiguro Jinji rarely came home and spent most of his time wandering. He hadn't acted like a father for years, but after the war, something changed. He found himself thinking more about his children—even someone like him wasn't immune.

Even tyrants can love their children.

In truth, Fushiguro Miki had practically raised the family. Precocious and mature, she took over household duties early, doing her best to give Megumi a sense of normalcy.

> She's the kind of woman who could be a real mother, Gojo thought.

One day, Fushiguro Jinji decided he couldn't keep things going like this. He approached the Zenin clan to sell Megumi—offering him for a staggering 1 billion yen.

> "I'm useless in the Zenin family without cursed energy, but Megumi has both power and talent. Maybe he'll be safer there," he rationalized.

But after the war, he began to doubt that decision. The Zenin household was no place for a child. So he turned to Gojo Satoru.

> "One billion. The boy's yours."

When Gojo heard about the Ten Shadows technique, he didn't hesitate. He didn't care about the money. What he cared about was the potential—this boy could one day be his ally.

> Oh, and apparently Fushiguro Miki was part of the package too.

"You take care of him for now," Gojo said. "Once he's of age, I'll enroll him in Tokyo Jujutsu High. I'll also teach him when I get the time."

For once, Gojo was being completely serious.

He and Fushiguro Miki then discussed arrangements, household needs, daily routines—topics that left Gojo visibly confused and flustered.

> Daily necessities? Qingyi! Xia! Somebody save me!

As night approached, Fushiguro Miki finally took Megumi's hand, bowed to Gojo, and left the café. Megumi looked back at him one last time. His dark eyes gleamed with curiosity and determination.

> A future Jujutsu master... no doubt about it.

In high spirits, Gojo hummed a tune on his way back to Jujutsu High School. But later that night, someone came to his door.

It was Geto Suguru, and he looked angrier than Gojo had ever seen.

"What's wrong?" Gojo asked. "You look pissed."

"Do those people have to stay?" Geto growled.

Gojo froze. He knew exactly who Geto meant—the Jujutsu higher-ups.

"They've been stirring things up again?"

Geto slammed the table, causing a loud crack to echo through the hall.

"I don't care that they didn't contribute during the war. I don't even care that they keep messing with our school reforms. But what I can't accept is that they dared to take Ji away without telling me!"

Ji was the child Inumaki Toge had entrusted to Geto before dying. If anything happened to him…

Geto didn't want to think about it.

"I'll do what you and Qingyi won't. I don't care if I get my hands dirty."

With that, Geto turned and stormed out. Murderous intent radiated from him like a storm, chilling the entire corridor.

Tap, tap, tap—

He stopped walking.

Gojo Satoru was standing right in front of him.

"You plan to stop me, Wu?"
