Chapter 8 - Career paths

Mike understood that the purple spiritual particles represented the element of thunder—the foundation of his transcendence.

He extended his consciousness fully, following his instincts to touch the thunder elements, allowing their flow to elevate him until he beheld a vast Sea of Spirit composed of multicolored spiritual particles!

With his mind immersed in this Sea of Spirit, Mike began contemplating the profession he would create.

Without a doubt, his transcendence would revolve around the power of thunder.

As this thought solidified, the thunder elements in the Sea of Spirit gathered around him.

Next, he listed his advantages.

As an eaglekin, he possessed the ability to fly. As a transmigrator, he carried memories of two lifetimes.

Moreover, he had the innate talent of Champion's Will, which aligned perfectly with formidable combat prowess.

As his self-awareness deepened, a template for his profession gradually took shape.

Meanwhile, deep within his soul,

a series of chimes echoed incessantly.

Inside the wooden hut, he opened his status panel.

Mike examined the system panel, noting the increase in all his attributes, as well as the unlocking of his profession and NPC template.

He chuckled wryly.

"Player functionality should unlock in the fifth chapter. As for this NPC template, it seems I'm now an elite mob?"

Then he closed the system panel. For now, it served as little more than a mirror reflecting his current strength.

He stood up, pushed open the door, and stepped out of the hut.

Waiting outside was an eaglekin warrior clad in bronze armor, holding a bronze spear. Seeing Mike emerge, he exclaimed joyfully,

"Mike, you've finished your seclusion!"

Mike patted his shoulder and smiled.

"Thanks for your hard work, Oliver!"

"Hahaha, guarding your door was no trouble at all!" Oliver laughed heartily.

"Alright, now that I'm out, you don't need to stand guard here anymore. Go take care of your own business," Mike said.

"Mike, since I've got nothing else to do right now, could you show me how strong you've become?" Oliver asked curiously.

Every eaglekin dreamed of becoming a transcendent.

"In terms of strength, that deer-type magical beast we encountered before would no longer be my match!"

With that, Mike raised a bronze spear, channeled a faint surge of purple lightning into its tip, and hurled it toward the outskirts of the village.

With a resounding "boom," a crater one meter in diameter appeared in the ground.

"That's incredible!"

Oliver and the other eaglekin who had noticed the commotion gasped in awe.

"With Mike here, our Gaoman Mountain tribe is finally growing stronger!"

Mike watched his cheering clansmen, his heart swelling with pride.

After completing his profession, he could now see the path of transcendence ahead, filled with hope for gradual growth.

The baptism of Titan and dragon blood had significantly elevated his physical potential.

Given enough time, he was confident he could at least reach the Legendary tier.

After all, with the experience of his past life, he wouldn't fall too far behind.

In the days that followed,

Mike instructed his clansmen to forge more bronze weapons and armor while stockpiling food supplies.

He also frequently flew beyond Gaoman Mountain to scout the surroundings for potential hiding spots or secluded lands suitable for the eaglekin.

The cataclysmic war between the Titans and dragons was imminent. Even Legendaries might not survive, let alone a newly advanced transcendent like him.

His explorations uncovered many magical beast habitats, but no ideal refuge.

After scouting the nearby areas, Mike decided to venture farther.

Packing supplies for a long journey, he spent seven days and nights flying eastward, covering ten thousand miles until he reached the edge of the Eastern Sea.

Ancient legends claimed the ocean was the domain of the sea clans. Aside from Titans and dragons, no one dared to settle near the coast.

Mike circled the coastal region for several days until he spotted a towering mountain standing by the sea. The area was rich in resources, with only a few magical beasts and no traces of intelligent life.

"This… is a paradise bestowed upon the Gaoman Mountain tribe by the heavens!"

"When the war begins, I'll bring my clansmen here. No matter how terrifying the sea clans are, they can't compare to the Titans and dragons, who nearly shattered the world!"

A year later,

Mike trained as usual in Gaoman Mountain. Whether due to the Titan and dragon blood or his own efforts, his progress was astonishing.

In just a year, he advanced from Thunder Wielder Level 1 to Level 5, reaching the peak of the first tier of transcendence: the Formal Tier.

The next stage was the second tier: the Master Tier.

Thus, he once again entered the Sea of Spirit and created the advanced profession for Thunder Wielder: Thunderwing!

On this day,

just as he prepared to begin his breakthrough on the Cyan Stone, the desolate sound of a bronze horn echoed through the air.

A voice like a celestial wind descended from the clouds above:

"Summon your chieftain to appear!"

When Mike arrived atop the stone cliff, the eaglekin envoy seemed surprised to find a transcendent eaglekin before him and slightly softened his tone.

Raising his stone spear high, he proclaimed:

"By decree of the royal court, all able-bodied eaglekin of the Gaoman Mountain tribe are hereby conscripted to the ancestral lands of Mount Celestial to await orders!"

Hearing this, a single thought flashed through Mike's mind:

"The world-shattering war has finally begun!"

Standing on the cliff, Mike gazed at the lofty eaglekin envoy, sensing the familiar, storm-like aura swirling around him—yet this time, he felt no pressure.

The reason was simple: he was now a second-tier transcendent himself.

And this envoy's power was merely at the Master Tier.

During his time in the Vastsea Forest, Mike had learned about the royal court's messengers and their professions.

The royal envoys typically belonged to the profession: Courier.

They hailed from the same eaglekin family, and when dispatched,

nearby regions were assigned first-tier Couriers.

For more distant locations like Gaoman Mountain, they sent advanced Couriers: Wind Messengers!

However, since its inception, the Courier profession had never produced anyone stronger than the third tier: Windstrider.

Only one Windstrider existed in the Courier family today, usually commandeered by the Thunder Titan to relay messages between the Titans and other races.

The defining trait of Couriers was their unparalleled speed!

Mike's thoughts raced as he faced the hovering envoy. For the first time, he straightened his posture defiantly.

He laughed loudly and said:

"Envoy, do you realize that if all our able-bodied warriors are conscripted, how will the rest of my tribe survive?"

The envoy frowned.

"Every eaglekin must serve the royal court unconditionally! This is the iron law from ancient times!"

"Tribal folk are as worthless as wild grass—live if you can, perish if you must! You are a noble transcendent—why wallow among these lowly commoners and degrade yourself?"

Hearing this, Mike could no longer suppress his killing intent!

"If the royal court treated us as its people, we would gladly die for it! But since it treats us as ants, why should we sacrifice ourselves for it?"

The envoy flew into a rage.

"Insolence! A mere eaglekin who stumbled into transcendence dares to slander the royal court, spout nonsense, and defy orders? Today, I shall execute you!"

With that, he raised his stone spear, his gray-black wings stirring the winds as a powerful gust propelled him toward Mike like lightning!

He had no doubt about his victory.

"My family's transcendent lineage has been refined for generations—how can some wild upstart compare?"

Below, on the cliff,

the eaglekin of Gaoman Mountain trembled under the envoy's oppressive aura.

But Mike showed no fear—only blazing battle fervor.

He stepped forward, gripping his bronze greatsword as violent purple lightning surged through its blade, and roared defiantly at the charging envoy.
