Chapter 5 - Marcus Flies Instead of Hunting

It didn't take him long to find out what his power was in the forest outside the village. Heard of Newton's third law? That's basically his power. Every action has an equal and opposite reaction. He found it out around 2 days after he left the village.

He felt hungry, his stomach was protesting. He needed something to eat fast, so he decided to hunt for food. So he was off, to become a proper jungler, and soon, he found exactly what he was looking for. Lunch.

More specifically, he found a wild hound, a 5 feet tall, four legged creature with a huge maw, course black fur and dark red eyes. It also had a huge, powerful tails and claws as big as decently sized daggers.

He didn't hesitate. he ran towards it, ready to punch it hard enough to kill it in one blow. He'd figure out how to cook and eat it after all that, that would be the real hard part for him. So he punched it, and as soon as he did, it disappeared.

He couldn't see it anymore, and the reason for that was also pretty clear, because he was flying backwards, very quickly and very confusedly. He stared at his hands as he crashed through several trees and kept going.

The hound did not seem that strong, it was so weird that it was strong enough to blow him away without him even noticing how it happened. After about 10 minutes of flying backwards, he finally came to a stop after hitting another tree.

He continued to sit there, dazed but uninjured. He thought he would be able to kill it easily, he was incredibly strong, all the elders of his village had told him he was strong enough to wipe out all the animals in the forest. So what was this situation?

He also didn't know how the animal was smart enough to blow him away instead of confronting him. He knew that he was incredibly tough, but he didn't expect the dog to know that too.

He got up and started running back towards the hound. Even if he was tossed that far away, he felt like he wanted to challenge it again. But he got distracted while walking back, cause he saw a large rabbit as he was walking back and his stomach decided that challenges were irrelevant when food is in front of him.

So he ran towards it, stealthily, cause his elders told him rabbits were fast and you had to sneak up on em. And he punched it again...or he tried to, before he was launched again, speeding backward in the opposite direction.

Huh? Whut.

A rabbit? Seriously? Even if it's big, how in da infinite hell had he been tossed away like a ragdoll again? Were his elders lying? Were the animals in the forests actually just dinosaurs in sheep's clothing?

So he flew for a while, more dazed and more confused but still uninjured. Even if the rabbit was incredibly strong, how did it know not to fight him face to face again? Weren't rabbits supposed to have small brains? Why was it so smart?

After stopping again, he got up to hunt again. He hadn't given up, he was completely fine, the only thing bruised was his ego. He looked around for more prey, before he settled on a nice and plump wild boar.

His mouth watered. Who cared about rabbits and wolves? Boars are a lot more delicious than them. So he stepped in front of it, ready to punch it when it came barreling towards him. The boar saw the human in his path and snorted in disdain, before lowering it's head, pointing its huge tusks straight toward the human's gut, and charged.

Marcus raised his fist and punched it straight between its tusks when it came close enough, and before he was blown away, he finally decided to pay close attention to what was happening. It was a good idea, because he finally found out what was happening.

He saw that boars face cave in, it's tusks crumbling to dust and its head becoming a perfect bowl for soup, before he was launched away like before.

Whut?

That boar...it died right? Nothing could have survived that! He also so it launched away from that punch just like he was. It had to be dead, nothing could survive that!

He repeated that over and over while staring at his hand as he flew leisurely through the air, his stomach complaining the entire time. After the short flight of Marcus Airways ended, he decided to sit and think for a while, much to the dismay of his stomach, but it had to be done, or else he would never figure out how to get food while in this forest.

So first he racked his brain, deciding that the boar had indeed died due to his punch and then deciding to find out exactly how strong his punch was to cause so much damage, and then somehow find out why his punch also launched him to last year.

So he got up and punched the tree he was leaning on.

And he was in the air again.

The tree definitely didn't hit me back! I refuse, that's not possible.

Then...

That was how he found out that his punches were cannons, that only worked once, before he was thrown far, far away from whatever battle he was participating in.

Now that was all fine and dandy, but how in the world would he ever get lunch like this? This was a problem he had to solve, for the sake of his poor stomach.

grumble

His stomach agreed.

He had never had to throw a punch before, he was a peace loving, naive kid, and his friends always protected him, and his sister had always taken care of food. Now he was alone, with an ability that functioned more like a curse.

Such a huge change gave him immense whiplash, but he had no choice to adapt, or else he would whither away in this harsh world.

So he continued to experiment.
