"Prepare to die?" Yuri asks, a brief, bewildered look passes across his face like a breeze, but it quickly disappears. "Whatever for?"
"Suppose Zephariel wants you to do that." Yoru laughs it off, then his eyes grow piercing cold, immersing in a bygone time. "Suppose he will be the one to kill you, though."
"I don't do the whole 'suppose' thing." Yuri shrugs, picking up a philosophy book from the walnut barrister bookshelf, brushing the cover before diving in. "It's a matter of either/or for me. To kill or to be killed. If Zephariel wants to, he'd have done that a long time ago."
"That's why I told you to prepare. I never said it would happen anytime now, did I? Listen when your elders talk!" Yoru pushes the book down, determined to get the boy's attention. Exasperated, Yuri acquiesced with a grunt:
"I don't know how old you are, but I'm quite old myself. And when the elders don't have a valid reason for their rambles, I have no obligation to obey their command. Or do I?"
