Some individuals are born with rare and unique physiques, powerful attributes that set them apart from others and grant them extraordinary talents in their respective elemental paths. These physiques, such as the Pure Yang Body (纯阳体, chún yáng tǐ) and Pure Yin Body (纯阴体, chún yīn tǐ), are highly coveted by cultivators for their immense potential, but also for the risks they carry when discovered by those with darker intentions.
1. Unique and Rare Physiques
The Pure Yang Body (纯阳体, chún yáng tǐ) and Pure Yin Body (纯阴体, chún yīn tǐ) are the most extreme examples of elemental alignment. Typically, a Pure Yang Body is found in males and a Pure Yin Body in females, though there are exceptions where a female may have a Pure Yang Body or a male a Pure Yin Body. These physiques are exceedingly rare, and those who possess them are often extraordinarily gifted in their elemental cultivation. A cultivator with a Pure Yang Body, for example, would excel in the arts of fire or sun-based cultivation, while a Pure Yin Body cultivator would be incredibly talented in moon or water-based arts. However, their rarity and elemental extremes make them targets for others who wish to exploit their unique properties.
Cultivators possessing such rare physiques must always be wary, as their talents are not only admired but also desired by others. The Pure Yang Body is coveted by female cultivators, those cultivating yin-based techniques, and evil cultivators (邪修, xié xiū) who seek to exploit it for their gain. Similarly, the Pure Yin Body is pursued by male cultivators, those focused on yang-based cultivation, and malevolent individuals. The allure of these physiques lies in their potential uses, ranging from dual cultivation to more nefarious purposes.

Beyond the Pure Yang Body (纯阳体, chún yáng tǐ) and Pure Yin Body (纯阴体, chún yīn tǐ), the cultivation world holds records of even more profound and exalted constitutions—physiques that transcend mortal balance and embody the essence of cosmic forces. These rare bodies are not merely aligned with elemental extremes but serve as the ultimate vessels for their respective powers, often possessing cultivation potential so immense that they are likened to divine beasts or celestial entities.
The Taiyin Body (太阴之体, Tàiyīn zhī tǐ) – Lunar Sovereign Body
The pinnacle of Yin-aligned physiques, the Taiyin Body is revered as the "Lunar Sovereign." The character "太" (Tài) means supreme or great, while "阴" (Yīn) refers to the dark, cold, feminine force of nature. Together, 太阴 implies "Supreme Yin," a harmonious and divine form of Yin often associated with the moon, as seen in Taoist legends like the Moon Goddess (太阴星君).
The "Taiyin" in its name speaks of perfection - not mere purity, but the very essence of celestial Yin, balanced yet unfathomably potent. Those graced with this physique often move with an otherworldly grace, their pale skin shimmering with moonlit radiance, capable of freezing spiritual energy with but a glance.
Cultivators with the Taiyin Body possess Yin energy that is not only immense but also refined and stable. Unlike the Pure Yin Body, which is absolute and often too extreme for the mortal frame to contain without backlash, the Taiyin Body represents a perfected Yin—mystical, ethereal, and balanced.
Cultivators with this body are naturally gifted in moon, shadow, illusion, and water or ice-based techniques, and their presence is often serene, cold, and otherworldly. Due to their unparalleled cultivation potential and dual cultivation compatibility, they are heavily sought after, though very few dare to approach them recklessly.
The Taiyang Body (太阳之体, Tàiyáng zhī tǐ) – Solar Sovereign Body
If the Taiyin Body reigns over Yin, then the Taiyang Body rules over Yang. Known as the "Solar Sovereign," this physique embodies Supreme Yang. "阳" (Yáng) is the force of radiance, motion, and heat. The Taiyang Body is the epitome of these qualities—its energy akin to the brilliance of the sun deity (太阳星君).
Wielders of the Taiyang Body exude burning vitality. Their control over fire, sunlight, and destruction is unmatched. Unlike the unstable extremes of the Pure Yang Body, the Taiyang Body is both potent and self-contained, refined through celestial balance. Such cultivators advance at breakneck speed and often manifest divine-level battle prowess. Like its lunar counterpart, this body is almost impossible to subjugate or exploit.
The Blazing Sun Body (炙阳之体, Zhì yáng zhī tǐ)
While often mistaken for the pinnacle of Yang, the Blazing Sun Body is, in truth, a violent, untamed version of Yang. "炙" (Zhì) adds the concept of scorching, burning intensity. Unlike the divine brilliance of the Taiyang Body, the Blazing Sun Body is volatile—blazing like volcanic fire.
In some cultivation worlds, this physique is the highest Yang-aligned constitution. In others, such as Su Min's story, it ranks as a high-tier Yang body—just beneath the Taiyang Body. While powerful, it lacks the divine harmony of the Solar Sovereign. Still, the sheer might of its destructive Yang energy makes it incredibly formidable on the battlefield, and it remains a highly desirable body for cultivators practicing explosive or fire-based arts.
Great Wilderness Holy Body (荒古圣体, Huānggǔ Shèngtǐ) – Great Desolate Holy Body
Unlike Yin or Yang alignment, this physique represents raw primordial force—ancient power that predates structured Laws. It is the pinnacle of physical strength and primal energy. Cultivators who awaken this body are born with crushing power and boundless potential in body-refinement paths. Their presence alone shakes the heavens, and their cultivation path often mirrors the legends of ancient gods and beasts.
This body is neither Yin nor Yang aligned. It is chaos turned flesh, strength made manifest. Extremely rare and often misunderstood, it is the embodiment of the desolate and unconquered lands—untamed, indomitable, and revered.
Five Elements Holy Body (五行圣体, Wǔxíng Shèngtǐ)
This body is the apex of elemental affinity. While most cultivators align with a single element, those with the Five Elements Holy Body possess complete harmony with metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. They are capable of seamlessly switching between elements or combining them in ways others cannot fathom.
However, its true potential is only unlocked through arduous trials. In Su Min's story, only two individuals have fully awakened it due to its absurdly demanding conditions. Those who succeed in doing so are nearly invincible across elemental cultivation paths and often considered unparalleled prodigies, if not walking legends.
Spiritual Dao Holy Body (道灵圣体, Dàolíng Shèngtǐ)
This is a physique not tied to any one Law, but instead resonates with the concept of the Path itself. A cultivator bearing this body can sense, comprehend, and wield any Dao they come into contact with. Whether it is the Law of Fire, Water, Life, or even Space, they can adapt with shocking speed and depth.
Because it is so profoundly aligned with the concept of Dao, cultivators with this physique often tread paths no others can follow. Their insights are vast, and their presence is often compared to walking embodiments of the heavens' will.
Comparison of Physique Hierarchies
The Pure Yin and Pure Yang Bodies are extreme and powerful but come with inherent instability. Their cultivation speed is high, but they are susceptible to imbalance. The Taiyin and Taiyang Bodies, however, represent refined celestial extremes—stable, powerful, and divine.

2. Unique Body Gifts and Mutations
Beyond elemental physiques, some cultivators are born with unique gifts or mutations that bestow them with remarkable abilities. One such gift is the Sword Bone (剑骨, jiàn gǔ), where a cultivator's spine can serve as a natural Sword Embryo (剑胚, jiàn pēi), a critical component in sword cultivation. Those blessed with a Sword Bone have an innate affinity with swords and excel in swordsmanship, as their bodies themselves become a weapon. However, this gift also makes them a target for others who wish to extract the Sword Bone, often through violent means, to forge a powerful sword embryo for themselves.
Similarly, there are other rare gifts, such as the Phoenix Bloodline (凤凰血脉, fèng huáng xuè mài) or the Dragon Heart (龙心, lóng xīn), each with its unique set of powers and dangers. Those who bear these gifts are pursued relentlessly, not just for their abilities but also for their body parts, which can serve as ingredients in potent alchemical concoctions or rituals.
3. Dual Cultivation
One of the most common reasons these rare physiques are pursued is for Dual Cultivation (双修, shuāng xiū), a practice where two cultivators cultivate together to enhance their progress, often achieving results much faster than they would alone. Dual cultivation comes in two forms:
Intimate Dual Cultivation (双修, shuāng xiū): This form of dual cultivation is practiced through sexual intimacy, allowing for a deep, physical connection that boosts cultivation speed significantly. Those with matching attributes, such as a Pure Yang Body with a Pure Yin Body, or Lunar Sovereign with Solar Sovereign, can achieve rapid breakthroughs in their cultivation. However, this type of cultivation can also be exploited by unscrupulous cultivators who force their partners into these relationships solely to accelerate their progress, stripping the act of any consent or affection.
Casual Dual Cultivation (辅助双修, fǔzhù shuāng xiū): A less intimate form that involves simply holding hands or touching the other person's back, still requiring physical contact to connect their energies. Matching attributes still offer a boost, though not as substantial as in intimate dual cultivation. This practice is considered safer but is still sought after for the benefits it provides.
For cultivators of rare physiques, dual cultivation offers a quick path to power but also exposes them to manipulation, coercion, and even assault by those who wish to exploit their unique energies.
4. "Picking Yin to Replenish Yang" and "Picking Yang to Replenish Yin"
Some cultivators engage in the more extreme practice of "Picking Yin to Replenish Yang" (采阴补阳, cǎi yīn bǔ yáng) or "Picking Yang to Replenish Yin" (采阳补阴, cǎi yáng bǔ yīn), where they forcibly extract the yin or yang essence from another cultivator's body to enhance their cultivation. This method is highly dangerous, as it can completely drain the victim's cultivation, destroying their cultivation base and potentially leading to their death. In extreme cases, evil cultivators kidnap or raise cultivators with these rare physiques, feeding them with various pills to artificially boost their cultivation levels, only to later harvest their cultivation for their gain.
Such practices can be consensual, where the cultivator willingly agrees, often for a high reward, or non-consensual, leading to the victim's suffering or demise. The latter scenario is tragically common among evil cultivators, who seek rapid advancement without regard for the cost to others.
5. Yuan Yin (元阴, yuán yīn) and Yuan Yang (元阳, yuán yáng)
there exists a fundamental and potent energy known as Yuan Yin (元阴, yuán yīn) and Yuan Yang (元阳, yuán yáng). This innate energy, found in all virgins—Yuan Yin in females and Yuan Yang in males—carries tremendous significance for both mortals and cultivators. As long as one remains untouched, this primal energy resides within them, a natural and pure force that is highly coveted, revered, and, at times, ruthlessly exploited.
5.1. The Importance of Yuan Yin and Yuan Yang
For cultivators, retaining their Yuan Yin or Yuan Yang during the early stages of cultivation, particularly through the Foundation Building Stage (筑基期, zhù jī qī), is critical. Losing this innate energy prematurely can severely weaken their foundational base, making their journey to higher realms more arduous. A weakened foundation means more effort, time, and resources must be spent to regain what was lost, often through rare treasures or alchemical pills designed to restore their inner equilibrium.
Those with lesser spiritual roots or talent often find themselves marrying early, typically during the Foundation Building or Qi Refining Stage. For members of cultivation clans, marriage is more than just a personal choice; it is a duty to expand the clan's legacy by producing offspring. The union of two cultivators with spiritual roots increases the likelihood of birthing a child with strong cultivation potential. In this way, families strive to ensure their lineage remains potent and prosperous.
As cultivators advance to higher realms, the difficulties of conceiving children through traditional means increase. Female cultivators who give birth face similar risks as mortal women: potential regression in their cultivation and damage to their foundation. While these setbacks can be healed with special pills or treasures, they remain significant obstacles.
5.2. Yuan Yin and Yuan Yang as Tonic Boosters
Yuan Yin and Yuan Yang also serve as powerful tonic boosters for cultivation. These primal essences, tied to a cultivator's original purity, contain immense vitality and spiritual potency. When exchanged through intimate dual cultivation (sometimes or in some novel just having sex in general also able to do this), they can significantly accelerate cultivation progress.
For example, if Cultivator A, at the Golden Core Stage, engages in intimate relations with Cultivator B, who is at the Nascent Soul Stage and still retains their Yuan Yin or Yuan Yang, Cultivator A can absorb that untouched essence, resulting in a dramatic leap in cultivation. Even though B is the stronger of the two, they may still gain a minor benefit in return, especially if A also possesses their original Yuan essence.
This principle applies regardless of gender. While traditionally discussed in male-female terms, the transfer and absorption of Yuan Yin and Yuan Yang are not limited to opposite-sex partners. As long as the act of intimate dual cultivation (or sex) occurs, the exchange of these pure energies can take place between same-sex partners as well. What matters is the presence of untouched, innate yin or yang essence—virginity in the spiritual sense—rather than just biological sex.
The energy they receive from these interactions is of a more refined nature, offering potent and rare enhancements that exceed those gained through other methods.
Because of its potency, this natural energy is far more effective than ordinary Yin or Yang energies cultivated through standard techniques. As such, cultivators with unbroken Yuan Yin or Yuan Yang are often seen as walking treasures.
Those who practice the arts of "Picking Yin to Replenish Yang" (采阴补阳, cǎi yīn bǔ yáng) or "Picking Yang to Replenish Yin" (采阳补阴, cǎi yáng bǔ yīn) often seek out virgins with pure yin or yang physiques or Top physiques of Yin and Yang. Their primary targets are cultivators with rare physiques who are still virgins, followed by those who merely possess these physiques, and finally any cultivator still untouched. The last resort would be any cultivator they can capture.
6. The Human Cauldron or Furnace
In this relentless pursuit of power, the concept of the Human Cauldron or Furnace (炉鼎, lú dǐng) emerges. A person drained of their cultivation during Dual Cultivation (双修, shuāng xiū), they are often fed with various pills to artificially elevate their cultivation levels, only to have their hard-earned energy siphoned away by another.
Some may consent to become a cauldron, selling themselves in exchange for some benefit, with treatment varying according to the will of their "master." For some, this life is worse than death—an endless cycle of being fed and drained without regard for their suffering. For others, it may mean being pampered, given luxuries, and treated better than the average cultivator.
The most sought-after cauldrons are those with pure yin or yang physiques or Top/ High tier physiques of Yin and Yang, or even ordinary cultivators who have been captured or sold into servitude.
Cultivating through such means—whether dual cultivation, using a human furnace, or through "picking yin to replenish yang"—is undeniably faster and more straightforward but comes with significant risks. Cultivation gained in this way is often unstable, like a house built on sand. Those who take this path must stabilize their gains or risk a fragile foundation that could crumble at any moment.
7. Alternative Paths to Conception
In the realm of cultivation, there are alternatives to traditional conception. Certain Spiritual Fruits (灵果, líng guǒ) can be used, or cultivators may merge their "essence," akin to a form of In Vitro Fertilization (IVF). In these cases, the embryo can be placed either in the womb or in an Artificial Womb (人造子宫, rén zào zǐ gōng), often resembling an egg.
The embryo within is nurtured by the parents' aura, or if the parents are unable, it is placed amidst a pile of Spirit Stones or Demon Stones or in any energy stones that corresponding their cultivation, which substitute for the necessary nutrition. This process allows even same-sex couples to have offspring, ensuring that love and legacy know no bounds.
8. The Dark Side of Ambition
Yet, in a world where power is the ultimate prize, many cultivators care little for stability or the consequences of their actions. Driven by greed, ambition, and desire, they pursue the higher realms with reckless abandon, indifferent to the suffering left in their wake. Thus, the concepts of Yuan Yin, Yuan Yang, and Human Cauldrons remain deeply ingrained in the fabric of cultivation society—a stark reminder of the thin line between enlightenment and exploitation, between the divine and the depraved.
