Just as the situation reached a stalemate, Hellish Blizzard spoke.
"Ms. Hellish Blizzard, this is a well-deserved honor. Why refuse?"
The bespectacled man stepped forward with a conciliatory smile.
"Yes, Ms. Hellish Blizzard, this is official Hero Association recognition. You're now a B-class hero. There are only about a dozen B-class heroes in all of Z-city."
Yamazaru, also smiling affably, added his persuasion.
What?!
Kaito Ren, who was eating ramen, turned to look at the two men trying to convince Hellish Blizzard.
He recognized them; they were key members of Hellish Blizzard's group. Their strength was… underwhelming, to say the least.
Initially uninterested, Kaito Ren found the scene amusing and watched with growing interest, clutching his ramen bowl like a seasoned bystander.
"What does it matter to me?"
Hellish Blizzard glared at Yamazaru, offering no concessions.
"This…"
The bespectacled man and Yamazaru, knowing Hellish Blizzard was difficult, were still surprised by her reaction.
No wonder the Hero Association used a quest system; they'd rather face monsters than Hellish Blizzard.
"Ms. Hellish Blizzard, this is the Association's decision. We're just messengers. If you have questions, ask the Association."
The bespectacled man forced a smile, trying to defuse the situation.
"I won't repeat myself. Leave! You're not welcome here!"
Hellish Blizzard raised her hand, a miniature hurricane forming in her palm, ready to unleash.
"You!"
The bespectacled man and Yamazaru's faces darkened with anger. But seeing the miniature hurricane, they hesitated. Attacking would be foolish. Grumbling, they retreated.
They just left?
Kaito Ren was somewhat disappointed. He'd anticipated a confrontation between Hellish Blizzard and her subordinates.
"Hmph!"
Hellish Blizzard glared at Kaito Ren, coldly snorted, and returned to her room, her anger clearly lingering.
Such a temper!
Kaito Ren touched his nose, chuckling nervously.
"Teacher, how much do B-class heroes earn monthly?"
Saitama, having finished his ramen, asked with interest.
"At least 5000 yen, I'd guess?"
Kaito Ren pondered. He hadn't seen the official salary figures. Based on his observations, C-class heroes likely earned under 3000 yen, barely enough to survive, as seen in the Licenseless Rider's stinginess when treating Saitama.
B-class heroes probably earned between 5000 and 10000 yen, driving used cars and carpooling, as observed with the group Saitama encountered before the Deep Sea King incident.
A-class heroes would earn significantly more, perhaps several tens of thousands of yen monthly, judging by Sneaky's expensive suits and the frequent pub gatherings of A-class heroes like Metal Bat and Spring Mustachio.
S-class heroes, being exceptional individuals, likely didn't prioritize money but would still receive substantial sums, probably six figures or more.
"5000 yen?!"
Saitama was surprised, quickly calculating ramen costs: 100 yen per cup, 300 yen per meal, 9000 yen per month (30 days), 18000 yen for two people. 5000 yen was insufficient!
Saitama scoffed, realizing 5000 yen wouldn't even cover their ramen.
Kaito Ren felt a mix of relief and amusement. He was relieved Saitama was thinking of him, but amused by the idea of them subsisting solely on ramen.
"B-class heroes don't earn much, but you can aim for A-class! I heard A-class heroes earn 20000 yen monthly, enough for most to live on. And Kaito Ren, if you need money, I… I can help, however much you need."
Asaka Hanako, having overheard their conversation, mistakenly assumed they were struggling financially and offered help, almost confessing her feelings.
"I have some money, enough for now."
Kaito Ren smiled. He still had several tens of thousands from selling weapons and some white-quality equipment he could sell. Supporting them both wouldn't be a problem.
"Really?"
Asaka Hanako's eyes dimmed with disappointment. She'd hoped to strengthen their bond. She'd been presumptuous.
Kaito Ren was puzzled by her sudden change in mood. He had no time for this; he needed to visit Zenko and check on her medical expenses.
He'd obtained many materials from defeating eight monsters, synthesizing several white-quality weapons, which should sell for a good price. With more money, he felt more confident.
"Kaito Ren-nii, you're here?!"
As Kaito Ren entered the elevator, he heard a cheerful voice. Metal Bat and Zenko appeared.
"Hmm? You're out again?"
Kaito Ren greeted them with a smile.
"Yes, the hospital was so boring, so brother took me for a walk."
Zenko nodded, then remembered something and pulled out a sketchbook.
"Kaito Ren-nii, I drew this. What do you think?"
Kaito Ren took the sketchbook, his expression turning curious.
