The bus ride was 10 minutes long - plenty of time to think of how much of a pain this will be.
Kuro rested his head on his hand by the window watching all the houses and cars go by. The bus seats weren't that comfy, so it was even more of a pain. The buss hissed at every stop like a charging bull. Everyone one around me had a badge with a letter on them describing their rank, I could see D, C, B and A. Then there is me, Kuro Akagame with the letter E aka the lowest rank.
I have been receiving glares from all the student in the bus probably because of my rank.
"This will be a pain" I say Sighing.
The bus slowly brakes into a big school where combat academy is. The school is very big and had kids everywhere. I step out the bus as a light breeze sways my black hair back and forth along with my red eyes glimmering from the sun. I take a look at all my directions to see people fighting, talking and training all around me, it was like a massive training school where it had everything.
I emotionlessly walk on a huge path along with a bunch of other students except I am alone unlike most. I look down at my map that had my classes and the layout of the school so I could find where I was supposed to go.
"BUMP".
"Woah watch where you're going pathetic E rank" the tall guy in the middle of two others with black hair with a B rank on his badge says cockily.
"Yeah, watch where you're walking around boss" two others say with a d and a c rank on their badges.
I stare at them without saying anything as I turn around and start walking without a care in the world.
"That's it do not walk away from me E rank!" The B rank says as he grabs Kuro's shoulder causing me to turn around.
"My bad pal I didn't introduce myself, I am Bee and these are... you don't need to know their names, they aren't important. So, what's your name?". The d and c rank look disappointed and a bit hurt.
I glare without saying a word.
"That's it!" Bee grabs me by the collar and holds me up with brute strength. "I asked your name!" He said furiously as I still glare and say no words.
Bee holds a punch out and as he is about to throw it a girl yells out.
"Stop!" the girl says as she walks over elegantly.
She had a black uniform top with a short skirt. Her long black hair flowing in the wind and her deep black eyes piercing Bee with fair.
"Oh crap, Bee look at her rank! We got to go" The C rank shuttered.
Bee reads the letter on her badge to see that it's a A rank.
"Oh, my bad we are leaving now" Bee says whilst being terrified.
The C, D and B rank run off fearing for their life's.
"Thank you I guess but I could've handled it myself." I said emotionlessly.
"Yeah, I'm sure a E rank could have handled a D, C and B rank on his own". She said coldly.
"Wow how harsh" I say emotionlessly and walk off.
"Hey, wait, what is your name?" she says with no emotion.
"It's Kuro Akagame" I say emotionlessly.
"Well Akagame I am Yoru Yamino nice to meet you E rank.
I nod and head off.
First Class: About ranks.
I make it to class and sit at the back left of the room in a Japanese styled class with 4 desks wide and 5 desks down the class, meaning about 20 desks. I stare out the big window to my left resting my head drowning in my thoughts, while all the other kids in the class talking to each other.
Someone opens the sliding door from outside the class leading to the teacher's desk. The sound of wood sliding across wood can be heard as the person walks into the class. The lady claps her hands and the whole class goes silent and runs off to their desks. I glance over to the lady in the front who looks to be the teacher.
"Alright class let me introduce myself, you can call me Mrs Yor, now enough chit chat and let's talk about the ranking system. Since you are all new here, I will go through it once more even though you were told during the entrance exam. Can anyone tell me about the ranks in order?"
Someone raises their hand from the desk right next me. I glance over to see Yoru Yamino the rank A student raise her hand.
"Go ahead and tell us Yoru"
The teacher says as she sits down on her chair by her desk up front.
Yoru stands up from where she was sitting and takes a deep breath and starts talking. "Firstly, to get a rank you have to go through the entrance exam where you have to test your fighting stats as in strength, speed, durability, endurance, etc. Once done your entrance exam, you are given a rank based on those scores, the scores being E rank, which to get E rank you either have to not try, or have really low scores for each stat (Yoru glances at Kuro), E rank is a rare rank because barely anyone has it. Then you got D rank that is either slightly better on all stats then an E rank or have a little higher than E rank by a tiny bit but have higher stats on another trait. To get C rank you would need a higher score than D rank or a little higher than D but have more score on another trait. For B rank you need higher scores than a C rank by a decent amount, while for A rank you would need to have more than all combined or have more by a little bit, meaning a A rank could beat a E, D, C and B rank all together. There is one last rank that is so hard to obtain and so skilled they can sometimes land strikes on the elite 4 and that is S rank. To acquire S rank, you would need all ranks combined but you need a higher value than the scores at the lowest level of S rank, meaning a high-level S rank could beat all ranks at the same time 3x over or even a group of 5 A ranks 2-3x over. once you obtain S rank you are allowed to challenge the elite 4 and take their title to make your way up to the champion. Keep in mind that one member of the elite 4 could single handedly beat 10 S ranks twice or more. If you're wondering if your rank is set in stone, then don't worry because you can get reevaluated once a month at any time." Yoru Yamino takes her seat.
Interesting.
I mutter to myself.
Yoru glances at me for a second as I look through the big window pretending to not notice.
"Well done, Yoru for remembering all that, I should expect nothing less from a A rank student like you."
The teacher says proudly.
Time goes by fast as I drift into thoughts endlessly while looking out the window until I hear a bell.
"DING" "DING"
The bell goes off a few times and shortly after the teacher lets us leave for break. I walk out the classroom with my hands in my pockets calmly walking down the halls.
"Omg, he is E rank".
"hahaha, look at that pathetic E rank over there"
The students say to their friends quietly.
Yeah, I can hear each one of them, this is going to be a pain isn't it.
I say to myself sighing.
Last part: Encounter.
I sit leaning on a big tree out the back in a secluded area of the school hoping that no one would be over here. I take a sandwich from my bag and eat it calmly while enjoying the nice breeze that blows by ever so lightly. Just when I thought I was at peace I could see three people standing Infront of me. I glance at their badges to see a D rank, C rank and a B rank.
That seems familiar, doesn't it?
I think to myself. I glance up and see Bee with his little companions.
"Let's finish our talk where no one can help you" Bee says smirking while his companions laugh.
I stare coldly into his eyes, my red eyes piercing his soul as he steps back by reflex.
"what's wrong boss?" the C rank mutters.
"Don't disrespect me you pathetic E rank!" Bee yells as he tells his companions to attack.
The C rank kicks Kuro's sandwich out of his hands while Kuro's gaze follows the sandwich as it falls to the ground.
The C rank proceeds to grab Kuro and hold him up by his collar.
"Get him D" the C rank mutters as the D rank runs at Kuro with his fist out.
Out of nowhere the C rank falls to the ground holding his solar plexus as if he'd been hit there, while the D rank has a bloody nose and falls to the ground.
"What the hell just happened, I swear I was holding him so If he hit me, I would have seen it!" the C rank says whilst in pain.
"Did that E rank just use his speed to take down my companions? No way a E rank could do that! It's impossible, unless he didn't try during the exam... But why? There would be no point because the whole point is to be the best, so no one fakes their rank." Bee thinks to himself in shock and on guard.
Bee runs at Kuro holding his fist out and throwing a strong punch. Kuro moves his head slightly and dodges, Kuro follows up with an uppercut to the gut causing Bee to fall unconscious and spit siliver out.
I think I over did it a bit.
I think to myself a little worried. I turn around and start walking off. From the corner of the building where Kuro couldn't see, was a girl watching that whole thing from start to finish. Yoru Yamino was watching in secret as she gasped.
"That boy... He can't be E rank! I mean I barely even saw those attacks, but I could just make out that Kuro kneed the C rank in the solar plexus and Jabbed the D rank square in the face at speeds I could hardly see. I should probably keep this to myself, I don't want him knowing I snooped around."
Yoru Yamino thinks to herself
What are you doing over her Yamino? I say emotionlessly
"What the! Didn't he go the other way? Dang it I got distracted and lost focus. Oh nothing just walking around" Yoru says emotionlessly.
Sure thing.
I say as I walk past her.
