Chapter 202 - Chapter 201: The Sky Overlord of the Prehistoric World!

Chapter 201: The Sky Overlord of the Prehistoric World!

2024-05-15 Author: Samsung Charmander (Author Name)

Reality: Deep Pit Cave.

"Where's the last one?" Gary asked, his brow furrowed.

"You probably don't want to bu-zz-zz-zz..."

The electronic voice was cut off mid-sentence. Gary's hand speed reached its peak as he instantly switched his Pokedex to vibrate mode, leaving it to buzz incessantly in his hand.

Right now, he wanted to smash this Pokedex to pieces and have Professor Oak mail him a new one.

Beep. Location of the final one, searching...

This time, it was Ash's Pokedex that began whirring its CPU. It might spout nonsense normally, but when it came to a critical moment, it still deserved the MVP award.

Beep. The target is located 5 meters directly above your head.

Gary, Ash: "!"

The two of them immediately scrambled. Ash quickly ordered Pikachu to expand the light's beam five meters higher. Then, they both craned their necks back 90 degrees and, sure enough, saw something unusual on the rock ceiling.

At first glance, it didn't look like a Pokémon, more like a large boulder.

A bell-shaped stone was hanging above their heads. It was blackish-purple, and its entire body looked like a strangely shaped, ancient, unyielding rock.

As if sensing their gazes, two oval slits appeared out of thin air at the bottom of the bell, and two crimson glows lit up.

It was a pair of terrifying, bloodshot eyes!

The two of them had already seen several pairs of these large eyeballs, but none were as intense as this pair.

*KRAK*

The bell-shaped rock suddenly changed its shape. The two outer layers of rock that enveloped its body folded outward, and a smaller, purplish-black rock slowly protruded downward from the middle, the crimson eyes growing from it.

"It really is a Pokémon!?"

Only then did they realize that the large boulder from before was just this Pokémon curled into a ball, its entire body wrapped in its wide wings. It was only now revealing its true form.

"This guy... it's been awake this whole time, watching us?"

The Deep Pit Cave was so large, it was impossible that the two of them just happened to be standing directly underneath it.

The only possibility was that this Prehistoric Pokémon had woken up long ago, but instead of attacking them, it had hidden in the darkness of the rock ceiling, spying on everything.

"This is a Prehistoric Pokémon with a brain!" Ash blurted out.

The previous Kabuto and Omanyte weren't just ancient in body, but their minds were just as archaic. They only knew how to attack recklessly, which had given them a great opportunity.

*FLAP.*

The unknown Pokémon flapped its wings, detached its tail from the rock ceiling, and circled down to land on a Rock Platform on the ground, facing them from a distance.

They focused their eyes and finally got a complete look at this Prehistoric Pokémon's form.

Its whole body was a hard, rock-like blackish-purple. Atop its rock head was a vicious and sinister face, with a pair of sharp horns.

Its body sported a pair of broad rock wings, with a pair of sharp claws growing from the tips of the joints.

Its lower body consisted of a pair of thick, sturdy hind legs and a long, arrow-tipped tail.

"SKREEEAARGH!!"

The Prehistoric Pokémon beat its wings and roared, opening a rocky maw filled with sharp teeth. The entire Deep Pit Cave began to tremble as a fierce and wild aura rushed forward to envelop them, the scent of blood stronger than ever before.

This was an aura on a completely different level than the previous Omanyte and Kabuto!

"Pika..."

Pikachu's body trembled in fear at this overlord-like presence. Mice are naturally afraid of hawks in the sky, but this creature was undoubtedly a tier above any hawk; its species suppression was quite high.

It then subconsciously focused all the light onto this Pokémon's face. The high-powered lights blasted it right in the face, making it somewhat uncomfortable.

But to maintain its ferocious expression, it could only continue to stare fixedly at the bright light with its bloodshot eyes.

"So this is the king of this place..." Ash couldn't help but gasp for breath. The wild aura pressing down on them sent a chill through his heart, but in the next second, his gaze grew even brighter as he licked his lips.

A strong enemy is exactly what I want!

So he pulled out his Pokedex to scan it, hoping to get some information.

Beep. Aerodactyl, an ancient zoological species. The Sky Overlord of the Prehistoric World. It possesses a strong sense of lordship and a proud heart. Be careful, you are very likely to die today.

"Aerodactyl? Is this the third fossil from our Kanto Region? It's incredible, just as expected."

So the Old Amber that Hikawa Toyohisa was willing to trade three fossils for... it seems it's capable of incubating and restoring this one?

Both its appearance and its aura are extremely powerful. If it were him, he'd be willing to trade five ordinary fossils for it!

"Its body seems like..."

*SLASH!!*

Just as Gary was about to say something, the Aerodactyl violently swung its winged claws. A sharp airwave shot out from its body, coalescing into a substantial slash that carved a long trench half a meter in front of them.

"SKREEEAARGH!!"

The Aerodactyl roared again. A tyrannical and ferocious airwave howled across the area, forcing both of them to subconsciously take half a step back.

"What a powerful aura. Is it telling us to hurry up and fight?"

"It really does have a brain."

The two exchanged a glance. This Prehistoric Pokémon's strength far surpassed the ordinary ones they had met before. Just a casual swing of its claws could carve a three-to-four-meter-long trench; its strength had likely reached a terrifying realm.

It probably has a five-digit combat power!

Immediately, Ash and Gary looked at each other and swallowed. If they were to fight this thing one-on-one, the difficulty would undoubtedly be extremely high.

Facing a Prehistoric Pokémon with such a ferocious nature, there might even be a risk to their lives...

Then, both of them extended a hand toward the other at the same time.

"Rock, Paper, Scissors!"

Gary threw scissors, while Ash threw paper.

Ash's face instantly darkened, and he clutched his head in regret.

"Damn it, I predicted you would throw rock."

"Hmph, this great one also predicted that you would predict that I'd throw rock."

"Fine, one-on-one. If you lose, it's my turn!"

Ash took three small steps back, leaving the stage to Gary.

That's right, the two were using Rock, Paper, Scissors to decide who would enter the arena first.

Aerodactyl: "?"

No matter how strong the opponent, even if their lives were in danger, they had to face them head-on in single combat. That was their style!

"Tch, let this great one see just how powerful the former Sky Overlord was!"

Although both of their auras were thoroughly suppressed by this Aerodactyl, Gary still forced a high-spirited smile onto his face. He took a step over the trench line and stood before the Aerodactyl.

"Hey, remember my name! I am Gary of Pallet Town, the future's most powerful trainer!"

"Exeggutor!!" A large brown tree stood before him.

He didn't throw out a new Poké Ball, instead choosing to continue using his Exeggutor.

Perhaps some old readers would say, "Is he an idiot? A Grass-type Exeggutor has a critical type disadvantage against Aerodactyl!"

"Hmph, I'm on The Fifth Layer! You cloud readers."

If he could see the chapter comments, he would definitely say this with disdain.
