Riki didn't know if "subduing" was the right word to describe Anton's current behavior. But Riki thought he had indeed done it. Subduing Anton to be on his side.
Humans are capable of changing to be anything, whether it be good or evil. It is the individual who will determine it.
It's not easy to switch to goodness, because most people in Anton's situation end up becoming criminals. But no matter how much Riki used his detection skills, he still couldn't detect any evil in Anton. All he saw was Anton wanting to be useful to Riki, so that he wouldn't feel even more guilty.
Very unique.
Anton was indeed very unique.
But what Riki liked about Anton was that he was smart. Not only is he good at academics, but he's also quite athletic.
