Aaron looked at Audrey's joyful expression and introduced with a smile:
"Its name is 'Emerald Chain,' a Mystical Item specially crafted for you."
Audrey's eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but exclaim in surprise:
"Mystical Item? Is this a Mystical Item?"
"So what does it do? Can it fly or turn invisible? Or can it cast fireballs?"
Looking at Audrey's sparkling eyes, Aaron was momentarily speechless. In the eyes of a mysticism enthusiast, these abilities were indeed very appealing.
Without directly answering the string of questions, Aaron took the Emerald Chain and showed Audrey the smooth, dark green hexagonal stone, which had been carved and embellished, on the pendant part of the necklace.
Aaron pointed to an abstruse and complex rune carved on its surface and explained in detail:
"This is mainly to deal with sudden dangers; it's a very good life-saving item. But wearing it normally will also give you a warm and comfortable feeling, and can dispel a certain degree of fatigue and other negative effects."
Audrey propped her chin on her hands, listening attentively. Even if it wasn't her favorite flying or invisibility, and couldn't cast fireballs, she was still very interested.
"Every time Father gives me a gift, he says it's related to Beyonder powers, but every time I don't find any connection; they're all fake."
Listening and recalling the disappointment of receiving previous gifts, Audrey puffed out her cheeks, thinking unhappily.
"When you encounter danger, hold this pendant and utter this syllable." Saying this, Aaron pronounced the sound of "Door" in ancient Hermes.
Audrey froze for a moment, her face flushed. She thought she might have been daydreaming just now and didn't hear clearly, so she awkwardly asked Aaron to repeat it.
After listening again, Audrey repeated the strange pronunciation, committing it to memory.
Seeing that Audrey had remembered it, Aaron put away his smile and said seriously:
"If you really encounter danger, you must close your eyes when using this necklace."
Looking at the serious expression on Aaron's face, Audrey also nodded earnestly.
Aaron thought for a moment, feeling there was nothing else to emphasize. He glanced at the expectant Audrey and suddenly said with a smile:
"It might be a bit inconvenient for you to put it on yourself, and Annie isn't here."
He cleared his throat, "How about, how about I help you put on this necklace? We can see if it suits you now, and if anything isn't quite right, I can easily perfect it."
"Help me put on the necklace?" Audrey was stunned, momentarily at a loss. Usually, it was her maid or Mother who helped her put on accessories.
Audrey's cheeks flushed, and she stammered for a long time, finally nodding as if possessed.
Aaron stood up and slowly walked behind Audrey, taking out the Emerald Chain. Looking at the girl in front of him, a faint fragrance wafted over. His hand gently lifted her soft, silky golden long hair, revealing her smooth, fair nape.
Aaron gently put the necklace on Audrey. After adjusting its position, he let down and gathered her golden hair, then came to stand in front of Audrey, looking at the most dazzling gem in Backlund.
Audrey was wearing a pure white long dress with gold lace trim. Her golden hair was loosely tied, falling smoothly and lustrously, and her emerald eyes were like the purest gems.
Aaron's gaze swept over the completely emerald green necklace at her collarbone. The intricately patterned pendant was "embedded" in the hollow where her two collarbones met, softening the lines of her neck and highlighting a mysterious yet pure feeling.
Aaron genuinely exclaimed, "Truly worthy of being the most dazzling gem in Backlund, beautiful Miss Audrey!"
Audrey felt her cheeks burning intensely, and she was too embarrassed to look up and respond. Although she was very happy inside, she mumbled for a moment, then let out a faint "Mm" like a mosquito.
Not far away, Susie had long finished her biscuits and was faithfully sitting by the Door, like a guard. Evelynna on her head looked at Aaron and Audrey, curled her lip in disdain, scratched Susie's golden fur, and muttered in a voice only she could hear: "Heh, humans."
-----------------
Fog Sea, Rashad Island, Emerald City.
In a magnificent castle made purely of emerald, Bernadette stood on the balcony of the most scenic semi-open room inside the castle.
Candlelight illuminated the spacious room behind her, where opened books were scattered everywhere. On the central table lay three slips of paper, on which were written in the most common Loenese, Feysac, and Intis languages respectively: "The Origin of Order and Shadow," "The Great Emperor of the Chaos Kingdom," and "The Lord of Order Who Wields Rules."
This method maximized the avoidance of contact with the existence pointed to by that honorific name. Bernadette had returned to Emerald City after her investigation into the peculiar spirit body at the Kingdom Museum yielded no results.
She had scoured all the books she had collected but found no clues about this honorific name, as if this honorific name and the existence it pointed to had appeared out of thin air.
"Order, Emperor." Bernadette repeatedly chewed on these two words in her mind, her mood inexplicably agitated. Suddenly, she felt like going out for a walk.
Bernadette's heart stirred slightly. As a Sequence 3 Clairvoyant, such a sudden impulse was often not a reflection of her own emotions; it was more likely a feedback from peeking into destiny.
Bernadette's body gradually etherealized, surrounded by dazzling starlight. Stars, one after another, emerged, dense and brilliant. A pair of almost transparent eyes appeared before her. They had no eyelashes, were cold and emotionless, and were precisely the "Eyes of Mystery Prying."
After becoming a Demigod, the "Eyes of Mystery Prying" were no longer confined to the human body; they could be placed on others. What they saw was equivalent to what she saw, and once they entered a concealed state, they were difficult to detect by other means.
Indescribable lights seemed to flash within the cold and emotionless pupils. Moments later, all of it vanished without a trace, as if the scene just now was merely a false fairy tale.
Bernadette frowned, muttering in a low voice: "Caesar Harbor?"
Bernadette was very familiar with this place. It was the first official port her father, Roselle, established after opening new sea routes. After Roselle established the Empire and declared himself Caesar, this port was also named Caesar Harbor.
After Roselle's demise, she followed in his former footsteps, coming to Caesar Harbor and living there for a period of time.
Thinking of this, Bernadette's face showed a mixed expression of longing, disappointment, doubt, and other emotions. Then, her eyes lowered, suppressing the surging emotions in her heart, and she whispered to herself:
"No matter how long it takes, I will find the truth!"
Her voice echoed in the air, but her figure had long vanished. Amidst the flickering candlelight, the three slips of paper on the desk spontaneously combusted without fire, and instead of producing smoke, colorful, fantastical bubbles emerged.
Moments later, the dreamlike scene dissipated, and everything returned to calm. The slips of paper disappeared without leaving a trace, and all the previously haphazardly placed books were neatly arranged on the surrounding bookshelves. The red moonlight shone down, tranquil and peaceful.
