19: Earning Money

---

Daniel POV

Daniel sat beside Big Daniel's slumped body in their tiny room. Big Daniel snored softly. Small Daniel was lost in his thoughts.

"It's been six days since I met Yuujin Jin…"

"Incheon was a fucking warzone—Yujae Seon, his insane master, the master of Dark Crocodile.

"We barely made it out. I even called Allied."

"To stop Kitae Kim while tried sending Jaygeyong's gang to Busan… failed."

"But damn, what a ride."

His cheeks burned. "Staying with Yeowool—"

Suddenly.

He jumped to his feet.

"W-WHAT THE HELL AM I THINKING?!"

He groaned, pulling on a white hoodie and black trousers.

"Thinking of Yeowool...It's been ages since I talked with Zoe. I might even check on Jay in the path."

He locked the door and started walking. Taxis were out of budget. Again.

About ten minutes into his walk, he bumped into someone near the tattoo shop.

"YOOO! Daniel! Remember me?"

It was Alexander Hwang, looking excited, halfway into a whale tattoo appointment.

After a short chat, Daniel kept walking. Jay's house wasn't far now.

Then he heard it.

BANG!

A loud thud from Jay's front gate.

His heart skipped.

He jogged up to the gate, eyes narrowing as he caught a figure pounding on it.

His eyes widen.

---

½ Hour Ago —

Yuujin sat at a Starbucks. Spoon deep in a chocolate tart, eyes dead, mind spinning.

Behind him, a group of high schoolers joked around.

"Yo, Yuuwan! Read that Lookism fan chapter?"

"Nah, what's that?"

"Just shut up and read it, dumbass."

Yuujin ignored them, swirling the tart with his spoon like he was about to stab someone.

$10,000... I owe that bastard Tom Lee ten-fucking-thousand dollars...

He sighed.

"Should I just steal it?"

His eyes scanned the cafe. A blond kid in designer clothes walked in.

Yuujin smirked faintly.

Then stood, dropped the spoon on the table. The waiter noticed him leaving and shouted.

"HEY! YOU GONNA PAY?!"

Gone. He vanished like smoke.

The waiter ran to the table.

On the wood, scorched letters read:

"I'LL BE BACK WITH MONEY."

The metal spoon was bent like clay.

---

Ten minutes later, Yuujin stood in front of Jay's absurdly expensive gate.

Ding-Dong.

A housemaid opened a small side-door.

"What do you want, Mr. Yuujin?" she asked, clearly annoyed.

"Can you call Jay-nim?"

She nodded and disappeared inside.

5 minutes passed.

Then another 5.

Then another.

But. There was nothing.

Nothing.

Yuujin frowned and knocked.

"Jay-nim?"

She answered coldly from behind the door.

"He's not interested in seeing you."

That was bullshit.

He knocked again.

Again.

Harder.

Again.

Fists slamming louder.

The banging echoed. Pedestrians covered their ears. Still—no response.

Daniel stared in disbelief.

Yuujin's fists hammered the gate like a man possessed.

Daniel shouted, "Yo! Yuujin! What the hell are you doing?!"

Yuujin paused, breathing hard.

Daniel's eyes dropped to the gate. His jaw dropped.

The iron where Yuujin had been pounding… was caved in. Like someone had driven a car into it.

"You—what the fuck?!"

Yuujin stepped back, casually wiping sweat off his brow.

"I was just knocking."

"Bullshit," Daniel muttered. "What's going on?"

Yuujin sighed and explained. The destroyed room. Tom Lee. The debt. Everything.

Daniel listened, eyes twitching. Sweat beading.

"So you need $12,000?"

"Yes...Well,Two grand is for me."

Daniel chuckled nervously. "So ask Jay."

"I did. His maid said no."

Daniel frowned. Pulled out his phone.

Yuujin raised an eyebrow. "Big Daniel's phone?"

Daniel flinched. "Yeah. Grabbed it by mistake. He's got Jay's number too, don't worry."

Daniel called.

Jay's POV

Jay was in his bathtub. Eyes closed. Headphones in.

Music blasting. Chill as hell.

Suddenly—RING.

He blinked, groaned, sat up. Took the call.

"Yo, Jay. It's Small Daniel. Come to your front gate. Bring a checkbook."

Jay raised an eyebrow. Tossed on a robe and got dressed.

Minutes later, Jay stepped out, his maid trailing behind, trying to stop him.

At the gate—Yuujin and Daniel.

Again.

"Déjà vu…" Jay thought.

Daniel stepped forward. "Jay, why'd you refuse to see Yuujin?"

Jay looked at his maid.

She bowed her head, ashamed.

Yuujin walked up, ignoring the awkwardness.

"I need fifteen grand."

Daniel's eyes widened. "Wait—"

Yuujin held up a hand to silence him.

Jay didn't say anything. He just reached for his checkbook. Wrote the number. Signed it.

He left the name blank.

Then he handed the check towards Yuujin.

Yuujin blinked. "Just... like that?"

Jay and Daniel smiled.

Yuujin pocketed the check and walked off.

Jay tried to convince Daniel to stay for a bit.

Daniel reluctantly agreed.

As Jay led him in, he noticed the warped gate.

He stared at it.

Chuckled.

His smile was confused.
