Chapter 2 - Fate

---

The sun hadn't risen yet. I was sitting at the small table in the corner of the balcony, holding a cup of coffee, with Dilan beside me. The crisp morning air was brushing against our skin while Dilan fiddled with the *match* app she had practically forced me to download.

"I know exactly what you should write on your profile," she said confidently, navigating the screen while telling me what to do step by step.

In just a few minutes, my profile was ready.

She paused and looked at me.

"I told you to pick a nice photo. What even is this? Are we making a CV or something?"

I smiled, letting out a soft sigh.

"Ugh, Dilan... Fine. You pick one," I said, handing her my phone.

She took it, scrolled through my gallery carefully, stopped at a photo, and said,

"This one. Perfect. Now we can finally begin."

She placed the phone between us. I started browsing through male profiles. Most of them had little to no information, but I still had to swipe right if I liked them. There was a strange discomfort inside me.

Was it even possible to fall in love through an app like this? I didn't know.

But I had decided to try.

"What about this guy?" Dilan asked. "I think you'd look cute together."

I looked at the screen. His face looked quite young.

"He's younger than me, can't you see?" I said, pointing at the screen. "He's 21!"

"That's only three years younger. So what? It's love—we don't need rules," she replied, unconcerned.

"I think there should be rules. There should be some boundaries," I said sincerely.

"One day you'll understand," Dilan said. "Some things really don't matter."

"Well, I don't need to understand today. Let's just find someone more suitable," I said, closing the subject.

For the next half an hour, we kept swiping. Dilan eventually flopped onto the carpet, dramatically placing one hand on her forehead as she sighed in mock desperation.

"If you find fault with one more guy, I swear I'll throw myself off this balcony."

I laughed. "I know I overthink things. Maybe I'm just being silly. I got caught up in the moment. Love stuff isn't really for me. I shouldn't push myself like this."

"Don't be ridiculous. Let's look a little more," she insisted.

"No, no. I'm done," I said firmly. "Give me the phone. I'm deleting this stupid app."

"No way!" she blurted. "You finally had the courage to try. I'm not letting you give up that easily."

She pulled the phone toward herself. I reached out to grab it, and a mini tug-of-war broke out between us. Just as we were both holding onto it, a notification sound pinged.

Dilan snatched it quickly.

"I can't believe it! You matched with someone!"

I grabbed it right out of her hands.

"Well... I don't know if he's really your type, but he's cute," she added teasingly.

"Great, Dilan. What do I do now? Can we unmatch?"

"Nope. There's no going back now."

Dilan, clearly sleepy, went to crash in my room. I stayed on the balcony, alone, still holding the phone. I opened the profile of the guy I had matched with. His name was Deniz. He was 27 and the manager of a hotel.

In his photo, he looked even more mature than his age. He had black hair, deep dark eyes, and a bit of stubble. He wore a black shirt and pants.

I had no idea what to do next. I couldn't ask Dilan, so I kept browsing through the app. That's when, unintentionally, I matched with one more person—and accepted a request from another user.

Now there were three profiles sitting on my screen.

The second guy was Alp. He was 23 and lived in the same neighborhood as me. He worked at a gym. He had a friendly, charming face—but he was younger than me. It was an accidental match, and unfortunately, I couldn't undo it.

The third profile belonged to Eren. He was 25 and a private tutor. He was tall, well-built, and had a half-smile that made me feel strangely warm inside.

When I saw that he had sent me a request, I accepted it instinctively.

Still unsure of what I was doing, I was about to close the app when another notification popped up:

**Deniz:** "Hey!"

As I opened the message box, I saw that not only Deniz, but also Alp and Eren had already messaged me.

Somehow, I had matched with all three. There was no turning back now. I figured the least I could do was talk to each one and see how it went.

According to the app's rules, we had only five minutes to get to know each other once we started chatting. If one of us wanted to meet after that, we'd send a date invitation with a specific time and location. If the other accepted, the date would be set.

The next day, I started talking to them.

Deniz was distant and cold in the way he spoke—but still somehow alluring. His words had weight, and I could almost imagine the tone of his voice. "He's definitely experienced in these things," I thought.

Alp, on the other hand, was full of energy. His vibe was contagious and cheerful. I had some doubts about him, but not even a minute into our chat, he said he wanted to go on a date with me. He was almost begging me to say yes.

Eren was exactly as I'd imagined. Warm, yet a little reserved. Polite and fun.

"If you're up for it," he said, "I'd love to have coffee with you."

Later that evening, after finishing up at work, I was waiting for Sude to arrive so we could leave together. I pulled out my phone and opened the *date* section of the app.
