"You must be crazy! If you were lonely, we were always just one call away. We would have rushed to you if you had just given us a call. Lillian and I are indeed busy with our studies and work, but we still did our best to meet with you as often as possible. It was always you who left first and said you had something to do; you could not hang out with us. Now, we know what you've been up to," Denise scoffed.
Tricia and Tom were making it look like it was Lillian and Denise's fault that they cheated. They were trying to make themselves the victims instead of the perpetrators so they won't be held accountable for their actions. It was utter shamelessness and manipulation.
If not for Denise here defending her, Lillian may have simply passed out. With Denise as her anchor, she was able to keep standing and face these traitors head-on.
"You! You disgusting cheater, we're breaking up! How dare you say you only dated me because you pitied me? You were the one who made me fall. You pursued me first, and I fell for you because you kept pursuing me. I thought you were consistent and could be trusted. I made a huge mistake trusting you. I wish I had never given you my heart! I can't believe I wasted all my effort and energy just to witness this sh*t! This is the end of our relationship! Don't ever contact me again!" Lillian glared at Tom.
With all the proof right here, there was no need for further explanation.
Lillian saw and heard them with her own eyes and ears earlier. Tricia and Tom were so absorbed in each other and exhilarated in their carnal desires, and Lillian was just a hindrance to them.
This is how her relationship with them painfully ends.
Lillian was about to walk out when she recalled she hadn't greeted Tricia yet. They headed here to surprise and greet her in person, and the least Lillian could do was still deliver it after all the effort and hard-earned money they spent on this.
The cake Denise was still holding caught Lillian's eye. Lillian grabbed the candles, threw them to the ground, stepped on them as if cursing the celebrant, then said to Tricia, "Happy Birthday b*tch! Our friendship ends today!"
Lillian grabbed the cake from Denise and threw it at the two. It hit them on the face, and Lillian finally felt a bit of satisfaction since they looked like idiots with cream all over their faces while naked. She then turned her back and walked out before she broke apart further. She might just go crazy if she stayed here any second longer.
"Enjoy the cake, disgusting, traitorous, cheating b*stards! Our friendship is over!" Denise said and quickly walked after Lillian.
The gifts, the bouquet, the cake. All of it. Lillian and Denise had saved up for all of it from their hard work just to be able to surprise Tricia and make her happy on her birthday.
And yet, this was what Tricia did to them. It was a different kind of happiness the b*tch wanted. They would have supported Tricia if the man she slept with had not been Tom. But Tricia cheated and betrayed them! Yet, she still dared to blame it on them, refusing to admit to herself what her actions were.
From her actions alone, it was clear Tricia had chosen Tom over them. It would have been fine for Lillian and Denise if he were not Lillian's boyfriend. They could have accepted Tricia choosing a man over them if it were not a man she stole from her friend.
All the love, time, and effort they had poured into Tricia now felt like a waste. Because if Tricia had truly been their friend, she would not have done this in the first place.
They had loved Tricia not just as their friend but also like their own sister. But now, they knew, they were the only ones who treasured Tricia as such. Because if Tricia truly cared about them, she would not have said all those words earlier, and she would not have betrayed them.
As for that b*stard Tom, Lillian and Denise did not even want to talk about him since just thinking about him infuriated them. He had professed his love to Lillian like he was a loyal man, but he was nothing but a horny sc*mbag in the end.
Tricia had been their "friend" since junior high, but Tom was someone they only met in college. Tom was the one who approached them first and acted like he only wanted to be friends, so they let him into the group. But then, he courted Lillian and made her fall for him.
Now, they knew Tom only approached them and befriended them because of ulterior motives. If he had truly valued them as friends, even for a bit, he would not have created this kind of wedge. They realized he may have even intended to do it to feel better about himself and feed his small ego.
Lillian and Denise hailed a cab thankfully got one immediately.
Once they were in the cab, Lillian sobbed her heart out, and Denise comforted her. She had done her best to hold out until they were no longer visible to the two traitors. It was because Lillian did not want to look weak and so affected after what they did, or else they would look down on her even more.
Because of all the stress and emotions she felt, Lillian passed out.
When Lillian woke up, she was in the hospital, and Denise was there beside her with puffy eyes.
"Are you alright? Do you feel pain anywhere?! Should I call the doctor?" Denise immediately asked.
"I'm alright. Why are we in a hospital? We just spent a lot of money on Tricia's gifts," Lillian said, worried about the bill.
"Geez! Can't you think about your health first? You were out for two hours!" Denise scolded.
"I was?!" Lillian was shocked. She almost panicked that she might be sick, but thankfully, when the doctor checked on her, it was all because her body was already exhausted when she got exposed to so much mental stress.
From then on, Lillian had never been the same again.
