Chapter 45 - chapter no 44

"Mother! Can I ask you something?"

She suddenly asked her spreading dupatta on the string for drying it under sun.

"Yes!" She replied brushing the stain from a piece of cloth to remove it. She was completely into it.

"What was it like when you tookme here? I mean when you found me."

"We saw you in a vulnerable condition when you were carried away by the rescuers in the ambulance. The ambulance reached after us. So your father decided to go with you as your guardian at that time. We could think of worst after what happened to our daughter. So it was a relief for us when we found you safe otherwise. We know what happens to the girls who are kidnapped or who are away from house for more than 24 hours without any signs. I think it was your luck or our that we met."

She told her thinking hard what to say at the time. Both got sad at the memories. Amy got seated by her side and put her head on mother's shoulder. She smiled sadly at her action. Whenever she was sad she did the same act.

"I think you should pity for yourself that you really were picked from the roadside." Kamal made a joke to remove the sadness from the air.

"You should shut your mouth Sufi or I would complain about you. Then you're gonna cry." She snapped at his comment lifting her head and facing him, throwing his dirty unwashed shirt at him with clenching teeth. They had that relationship like Tom and jerry, though they were not in that much contact with each other than phone. But his personality made her openly talk to him in a few days like they knew each other for long time.

Both, mother and Kamal were looking at her shocked and confused. Se didn't understand why they were giving such reaction.

"Did I say something wrong?" She asked hesitantly eyeing their expressions.

"Who's this, SAFI?" Kamal asked with a raised eyebrow curiosity laced in his manner as he leaned toward her.

"Who's he??" She too asked unknowingly and questioning face.

"You mentioned it you should know. By the way I noticed it many times since I came you're calling me Safi whenever you're getting irritated by my behavior." He questioned her with his arms folded on his chest.

"Safi!"

"I too noticed it since a few days. You're calling someone even in your dreams. It was rare before but now it's too much. I and your father never mentioned it before but today as you called him as Safi so I thought it is right to tell you." Mother said leaving her task then and there.

"I think she's getting her memories back. It was slow before but as it's visible now i think maybe something stimulated it. Did you noticed anything that can stir it??" Kamal asked happily. He was excited about that.

"Don't you feel bad if I get it back?" She asked afraid of their response.

"Why would we?? It's your right to get to know about yourself, who you are and where you from, your identity??" Her mother enveloped her into her arms with a little peck on her forehead.

"Yeah she's right." Kamal patted her head lightly.

"So you're going to tell me the whole thin' when you recall it finally. I'm not leaving any of even minor detail. Keep that in your little mind." He said as thay resumed their job of doing laundry.

"Ok you little journalist!"

"I'm not little. I swear I'm gonna be a no. 1 journalist in Pakistan in near future." he said raising his invisible collar of his t-shirt. She laughed at him.

"Yeah! Your not so big dreams. Let's see if it's gonna happen in reality." She mocked and started taking clothes from his hand and spreading on the wall to let them dry. Mother was laughing at their little attacks they were throwing at each other all the time, while opening the water valve to wash the detergent off of the clothes after cleaning the stains or other pollutants from them.
