Chapter 67 - Chapter 66: The Sorting Hat: Azkaban!

"Ding! Detected host inflicting minor mental damage to bad boy Malfoy.

Awarded host 5 Merit Points."

  "Ding..."

"Ding! Detected host inflicting massive mental damage to evil bad boy Tom.

Awarded host 200 Merit Points."

Levid listened to the series of system beeps, his heart remaining calm.

There was nothing he could do.

This system was utterly useless. Aside from the initial items that spawned, the store never yielded anything of value.

Levid could easily have purchased potion ingredients and alchemical materials directly with Galleons, without even spending Merit Points.

Could you at least give me some Phoenix Tears or something?

Levid was so infuriated by the system that he almost wanted to drink a draught of Felixir and wait for it to refresh.

Later, because he studied with his senior students every night, he didn't pay much attention to the system store that refreshed every midnight, only glancing at it during the day.

Speaking of the system, when he'd been bullying Tom before, Merit Points hadn't dropped much.

He'd thought the kid had learned well.

I didn't expect him to wait until today to give me such a big blow...

He's really patient.

This actually makes sense.

How could a guy like Tom stay so obedient?

However, nightmare magic is surprisingly effective... Thank you, senior!

The Hogwarts Express has started, and the scenery outside the window is rapidly receding...

Tom sat across from Levitra with his head lowered.

Now, he was a little afraid to look Levitra in the eye, afraid that Levitra would come after him now.

Although Levitra said he believed his explanation, Tom couldn't believe what Levitra said!

Tom had a premonition that Levitra would definitely retaliate, but he didn't know when...

Thinking of this, Tom became uneasy again.

Suddenly, there were several knocks on the compartment door, breaking the quiet that had made Tom feel uneasy.

Levitra's eyes moved away from the book and looked towards the door.

The compartment door opened, and a very pretty girl leaned against it, politely asking, "Can I come in and sit? There's no room outside."

Li Weide looked at the girl and felt she looked vaguely familiar, though for a moment he couldn't place her.

"Of course, there's a seat here," Li Weide said, shifting the books on the table to the side.

"Thank you. The other compartments are full!" The girl happily entered, carrying a suitcase.

"Tom, don't just sit there like an idiot..."

Tom understood, standing up, taking the suitcase from the girl and placing it on the luggage rack.

There was nothing he could do.

He had just gotten into trouble.

He could only hope that being well behaved would lessen Li Weide's vengeance...

Alas, who could be as miserable as I am...

Tom sat back down sadly.

"Thank you..." the girl said, seeming a little embarrassed.

"Sit wherever you want," Li Weide smiled.

"Okay..." The girl glanced at Tom's expressionless face, then finally sat down next to Li Weide, who smiled gently.

Levitra smiled and said, "I'm Wade Lee. You can call me Wade.

His name is Tom, Tom Riddle. Although he's taciturn, he's actually a surprisingly kind person.

We're both first-years, just starting this year."

Tom raised his head and forced a smile, his lips twitching slightly.

"Hello... Hello, I'm Anne Rosier, also a first-year. You can just call me Anne. Nice to meet you," Anne said with a smile.

"Rosier..." Levitra's eyes lit up.

He finally remembered who Anne looked like.

The woman standing next to Grindelwald... Vita Rosier.

Back in Godric's Hollow, that woman had been with Grindelwald.

But at the time, Levitra was completely focused on Grindelwald, and Vita was busy saving people, so he hadn't paid much attention to her.

So, now, when he saw Anne, he only remembered who she looked like after hearing her last name.

"Huh? What's wrong?"

Anne seemed a little curious about Levitra's reaction.

"Oh, nothing. I just suddenly remembered that the Rosier family seems to be one of the Twenty-Eight Holy Clans," Levander explained.

"Yes, the Rosier family is recognized as one of the twenty-eight pure-blood families."

Anne seemed a little proud. "By the way, are you pure-blood wizards?"

"Yes, very pure..." Levander said firmly.

In fact, Levander wanted to go to Slytherin.

And Tom, as a descendant of Slytherin, would naturally be sorted into Slytherin.

In this era, being sorted into Slytherin for a non-pure-blood wizard would be very troublesome.

lsolation and bullying were commonplace.

Although Levander was not afraid of bullying, he still didn't want to cause too much trouble.

So, since no one else knew, when asked, he just said he was pure-blood.

This way, at least 80% of the problems would be solved.

"I knew it!" Anne said excitedly.

In her opinion, people with such temperament like Levander and Tom must be pure-blood wizards!

"Huh? You have a pet snake?"

Anne noticed Nagini, coiled in front of a book. "You'll definitely be sorted into Slytherin."

Of course, Slytherin is a snake charmer, and now Levander is one too...

"What about you?

Which house do you want to be sorted into?"

Levander asked casually.

"Slytherin, of course! Our family is all Slytherin, no exceptions!" Anne said excitedly.

  "Ah... so..."

Levander seemed very friendly as he chatted with Anne casually.

But in reality, his vigilance had reached its peak.

Vita Rosier was Grindelwald's most trusted follower.

He and Tom had just been targeted by Grindelwald for a short while, and then Rosier approached them.

He would never believe that there wasn't something fishy going on.

Levander suspected Anne was the one they had sent to investigate him and Tom.

He wasn't sure if this was Grindelwald's idea or Vita Rosier's.

Sure enough, after a short chat, Anne's conversation began to veer towards Levander and Tom's family.

However, Tom remained silent, and Levander, ever the shrewd one, kept teasing her around without falling for it.

Levander felt this was much more interesting than reading a book.

By the time even Tom noticed something was amiss with Anne, the announcement of the train's approaching station blared on the Hogwarts Express.

Anne felt completely frustrated.

Levander seemed to have talked a lot with her, yet it also seemed like nothing at all!

Over six hours! Anne was almost thirsty, but still no useful information!

"Annie, change your clothes,"

Levander said, and he and Tom left the compartment.

For a moment, Anne was alone in the compartment.

She silently closed the curtains on the door.

When she turned around, the smile on her face was gone.

"I just don't believe it..."

Anne frowned and whispered to herself.

But what she didn't notice was that Nagini was staring at her closely on the table...

"I am Ogg, the gamekeeper and key keeper of Hogwarts!

Everyone, please get off the bus in an orderly manner! First-year students, follow me! Leave your luggage on the bus, don't worry about it!"

A bald wizard was holding an oil lamp and shouting loudly from a high place.

The students got off the bus one after another, and the station suddenly became crowded.

While Anne was squeezed to the other side by the crowd, Tom whispered to Levid:

"There is something wrong with that woman."

  "I know." Levid nodded.

"You know?" Tom looked at Levid in surprise.

"The person most trusted by Grindelwald... is called Vita Rosier."

Tom was even more surprised.

"In other words, this was... sent by that man?"

Levid shrugged. "I don't know, I think so."

"You... if you knew she had problems, why did you let her stay in our compartment?" Tom asked, puzzled.

Levid grinned and said, "Often, people like that can be surprisingly useful... there's no need to expose her."

Tom was about to say something, but Anne had already pushed her way through the crowd and joined them.

Tom was forced to keep his mouth shut, returning to his taciturn self.

The freshmen followed Ogg for a long walk, arriving at the edge of the Black Lake.

Levid, gazing at the distant silhouette of Hogwarts Castle, couldn't help but feel a sense of emotion.

"Attention, four people per boat," Ogg said, and began directing the freshmen to board.

Levid and Tom were the first to board a small boat, followed closely by Anne.

Soon, another boy boarded their boat, taking the last spot.

The boy looked up with a smile, about to greet his fellow boatmates.

But upon seeing Levid, his expression froze.

Levid and Tom recognized him as the younger of the two Black siblings.

The boat had already begun to slowly move forward.

Even if the boy had wanted to switch boats, it was too late now, so he had to awkwardly sit back down.

"Hey, Black, what's your name?" Levid suddenly asked.

"Me?" The boy pointed to his nose in surprise.

"Of course, are there other Blacks on this boat?"

"Oh... I... My name is Alphard Black..."

"Hello, Alphard, nice to meet you." Levid warmly shook Alphard's hand.

This familiarity made Alphard less nervous.

"Hello... I think your name is Wade Lee?"

"Just call me Wade," Levid said.

"I'm Tom, Tom Marvolo Riddle," Tom said coolly.

Honestly, after everything he had experienced today, Tom had already let go of his rosy impression of pure-blood families.

"My name is Anne Rosier," Anne introduced herself.

"Uh-huh... Hello there." Alphard looked a little bewildered.

Not long after, the boat successfully docked.

Ogg led the freshmen from the boat, up the long stone steps, and to the castle gates.

Several freshmen in the group, upon seeing Levander, suddenly dodged in fear.

Levander glanced at them and suddenly laughed, "Tom, isn't that your good friend?"

"No, no, don't lie..." Tom quickly denied it three times.

  Ten minutes later.

The freshmen filed into the bustling auditorium and stood before a tattered hat placed on a low stool.

Levander glanced at the professors in the classroom and immediately spotted several familiar faces.

Dumbledore sat next to an old man with a white beard, smiling at Levander.

Levander guessed that the old man was the current Hogwarts Headmaster, Armando Dippet.

On Dumbledore's other side sat Professor Hicks.

Levander didn't recognize the other professors, save for the young Professor McGonagall and the portly Professor Slughorn.

However, this was also Levander's first time seeing Professor McGonagall in her youth.

Just as Levander's thoughts wandered, the Sorting Hat suddenly began to sing a strangely melodious song, introducing the characteristics of the four houses.

When the song ended, Dumbledore stood up, holding a roll of lists, and approached the stool.

In this era, this job still belonged to Dumbledore.

"New students whose names I call, please sit down here and put on the Sorting Hat..."

  "Henry Avery!"

The first boy nervously stepped forward and was sorted into Slytherin.

The Sorting ceremony officially began.

As the list shortened, Levander could sense Alphard beside him growing increasingly nervous.

Tom remained composed, but Levander noticed his fists clenched until they were almost white.

He was still just an eleven-year-old, after all...

  "Wade Lee!"

Dumbledore's voice brought Levander out of his thoughts.

"So soon..." Levander was surprised that his turn had arrived so quickly.

He quickly walked forward and sat on the stool.

"Don't be nervous, Wade. Relax."

Dumbledore smiled and placed the Sorting Hat on Levander's head.

The hat was still too big for Levander.

The moment it was placed on his head, it covered his eyes.

Then, Levander felt a faint voice in his head.

"Hmm... That's strange. You don't seem to have anywhere in particular you want to go? How is that possible?"

Levander thought his Occlumency was too strong.

He quickly activated Occlumency, creating some mental images.

Sure enough, the voice spoke again.

"Ah! I got it... So that's it... Brave, shrewd, ambitious...

Ah, and a heart that truly loves its friends!"

Dumbledore, who had been waiting nearby, couldn't help but smile at these words.

Levander was indeed a good boy...

"Ah, that's a dilemma.

You seem to be well-suited to all four houses! So... where do you want to go?"

Faced with Levander's deliberately concocted memories and thoughts, the Sorting Hat was also a little puzzled.

"Then go to Slytherin," Levitra muttered to himself.

Only in Slytherin could he earn merit points, even though the system was a bit crappy...

"Ah, I see. If that's the case, then as you wish... Slytherin!"

Upon hearing that Levitra had seemingly volunteered to be sorted into Slytherin, Dumbledore, standing beside him, was slightly taken aback.

He hadn't expected Levitra to choose Slytherin.

But when he saw Tom standing in line behind Riddle, Dumbledore suddenly realized it was all for Tom.

Dumbledore didn't even need the Sorting Hat; after learning about Tom's behavior in the orphanage, he knew he was definitely a Slytherin.

And rightly so, with Wade being so devoted to friendship, of course he wanted to be in the same house as his friend... that made sense.

Riddle smiled as he returned the Sorting Hat to Dumbledore and headed towards the applause-filled Slytherin table.

But no one noticed as his fingers, which had been holding the Sorting Hat, flashed a subtle white light...

  and a moment later.

  "Tom Riddle!"

Tom nervously stepped forward and placed the Sorting Hat on his head.

For a student with Tom's distinct personality, the Sorting Hat had no hesitation.

However, when it loudly announced the result, the word Slytherin came out as...

  "Azkaban!"
