Chapter 48 - Chapter 48: How could a good person be so sinister?

The streets were deserted.

The surrounding night was as dark as ink, making the buildings, shadowed by the dim moonlight, appear even more eerie.

Levid quietly followed the flames, heading towards the outskirts of Hogsmeade.

Soon, he left Hogsmeade, and the lantern light that had been following him finally came to a stop on the stone bridge at the village entrance.

Levid followed the flames, quickly turning onto a small path and gradually heading deeper into the woods.

As the trees grew on the road, the dim moon gradually disappeared.

Levid looked up, but he could not see the night sky.

Only the dense treetops cast thick shadows in the darkness, like giant beasts lurking in the shadows, waiting to devour.

Now, in front of Levid, only the faint glow of the blue flame remained.

  "Lumos!"

The white light from the tip of the wand pierced the darkness of the forest.

With ample light, Levvid's composure gradually returned.

Seeing the flames seemingly leading him toward the Forbidden Forest,

  Levvid waved his wand.

  "Armor!"

A transparent shield suddenly appeared, enveloping Levvid's entire body.

While the Shield Charm was a high-level spell, it wasn't difficult for Levvid, with the magical power of an adult wizard, to master.

Shortly after moving to Hogsmeade, he had consulted Aberforth and learned this incredibly useful protective spell.

After all, he had just suffered a setback from the Witchers with the Shield Charm.

Tom had wanted to learn it, too, but his magical power wasn't strong enough.

Even with his exceptional talent, he could only partially perform the Shield Charm...

A few minutes later, Levvid followed the flames into the Forbidden Forest.

There were no paths in the Forbidden Forest, and even if there were, they were likely closer to Hogwarts.

After another five or six minutes of arduous walking through the pathless Forbidden Forest, the flames finally stopped in front of a large, rock-like object.

Levvid raised his wand, and the light it emitted illuminated the large stone in front of the flames.

Levvid could now see clearly that this wasn't just a large stone, but a massive, intricately carved stone sculpture of a toad!

Just as Levvid was about to examine the toad closely, the stone toad suddenly opened its mouth and swallowed Levvid, along with his Shield Charm, in

one gulp! Levvid's vision went dark, but he noticed that the Shield Charm around him showed no signs of being attacked, indicating that the toad didn't seem to be aggressive!

"Whoosh!"

Levvid felt his body spin, and then his vision brightened.

He felt his feet land on the ground again!

Levvid looked around and found that he was no longer in the Forbidden Forest!

He seemed to be in an incredibly large stone chamber.

The chamber looked to be half the size of a football field, and the height from the floor to the ceiling was almost ten meters!

However, this huge chamber was completely empty, completely devoid of anything.

However, unlike the Forbidden Forest, this basement, despite being devoid of any visible light source, was blazing with light, as bright as day...

Levitra turned and saw a massive stone toad statue standing behind him, nearly identical to the one in the Forbidden Forest. Could this stone toad actually be a portal?

Its method of transport was a bit odd.

It swallowed me up there, then spit me out here...

There was no telling where it had been transported to.

"If I were you, get away from that giant toad, or it might transport you back to the Forbidden Forest."

The voice that had once appeared in his dream echoed in Levitra's ears again.

Levitra looked around but saw no one in the basement.

Clearly, the man wasn't in the basement.

"Come up..." the voice echoed again.

Simultaneously, a series of rumbling sounds erupted from the ceiling.

Then, a large section of the ceiling slowly tilted down, forming a steep upward slope.

After the slope took shape, it shifted again, and soon, a long stone staircase appeared before Li Weide.

Li Weide looked at the long staircase and couldn't help but rub his sore thigh.

"Yeah... I really love climbing stairs..."

"If you like it, climb a little further."

The voice finished, and the already long staircase unexpectedly extended another fifty meters!

Li Weide:

Li Weide tightly shut his mouth this time and strode up the stairs.

After Li Weide painstakingly climbed the entire staircase, he discovered that the floor above the huge stone chamber was actually another huge stone chamber!

"I'm here. Where are you?" Li Weide asked, surveying his surroundings.

As Li Weide finished his words, a puff of white mist appeared from nowhere...and the mist quickly filled the entire cavernous stone chamber!

Li Weideng's expression suddenly grew extremely solemn as he gazed at the familiar mist.

  "Nightmare Magic..."

The name of this magic had barely registered in Li Weideng's mind

when the surroundings transformed instantly!

The once bare stone chamber had, in the blink of an eye, transformed into a vast garden filled with singing birds and fragrant flowers!

Li Weideng watched in astonishment.

There was no doubt that the other party's nightmare magic was countless times more powerful than his own, reaching a level capable of influencing others...

Li Weideng didn't feel personally overwhelmed by this, as he had only been learning this magic for a day at most.

He believed that he would eventually reach this level.

However, Li Weideng now understood that the final stage of nightmare magic was not a lie.

  "Come here, let's talk."

Li Weideng looked towards the source of the voice.

There was a pavilion, within which stood a round table and two chairs.

On one of the chairs sat a very strange individual.

He was called strange because he looked nothing like a human being...

How could a good person be surrounded by a dark aura?

He strode over and sat down before the strange individual.

It was not until he got closer that Li Weide saw clearly that it was actually a strange man surrounded by strange black energy!

"We finally meet, Weide.

I know you must have a lot of questions. It's okay, you can ask them now."

The strange man seemed to be laughing when he said this, but Li Weide could not see the expression on his face.

Li Weide nodded and asked directly without any courtesy: "Who are you?

Why are you looking for me?"

The strange man sighed, "I am just a poor man enslaved by power.

As for why I am looking for you... it's because only you can save my life!"

  "Me? Can save your life?"

A lighter emitting a faint blue light floated out of Li Weide's pocket and gently fell into the strange man's hand.

"This lighter... only you can see the light on it, right?"
