Chapter 36 - Chapter 36: It was my mistake to give you the illusion that you could challenge me

In front of Levid, Tom was quite receptive.

After Levid's analysis, Tom gave up the idea of joining the Witch Party.

Whether Grindelwald could succeed was another matter.

Given Tom's age and limited abilities, if he really joined this group, he might not even have a chance to grow up...

Tom, fully aware of his own limitations thanks to Levid, is now quite self-aware.

So, the two of them temporarily settled down at the Hog's Head Inn, practicing magic while waiting for school to start.

During this time, Dumbledore personally visited, apparently to repair the broken protective spell in the attic.

After completing his work, he hurriedly left Hogsmeade without even staying to see Levid and the others.

Clearly, their war with Grindelwald had reached a fever pitch, and it was a great honor for him to find the time to come.

Especially since Grindelwald was currently in England, causing great anxiety for the Ministry of Magic.

Because Dumbledore had defeated Grindelwald years before, his abilities were highly valued by the British Ministry of Magic.

Consequently, the Ministry could hardly do without Dumbledore's assistance for a single moment...

In fact, Dumbledore proved his importance.

Grindelwald's wizarding party was in dire straits whenever he was around.

As a result, Dumbledore's reputation within the wizarding world grew.

To stay informed of the situation, Levitra and Tom both subscribed to the Daily Prophet.

According to the Daily Prophet, Grindelwald and his group engaged in seven or eight battles, both large and small, in the UK against Dumbledore's Aurors in just two weeks.

Both sides suffered heavy losses, but strangely, despite the numerous casualties, the number of deaths was minimal.

It was as if neither side had fought with all their might.

Finally, after two weeks, Grindelwald, unable to gain any advantage from Dumbledore, led his men and fled the UK, never to be found.

People speculated that he had returned to Nurmengard, Austria, to regroup.

However, although the outcome was decided, Grindelwald's retreat brought a sigh of relief to the British wizarding community.

  "Dropped!"

  "Bang!"

 "Too slow, too obvious...

Your spell wasn't even cast, but the impact was already predicted. How could you hit me? Come on, keep going!"

In the woods near Hogsmeade, Tom finally mustered up the courage and launched his first official challenge against Levid.

After more than two weeks of arduous practice, Tom decided it was time for revenge.

He believed that his hard work, day and night, had definitely surpassed the lazy Levid!

So, today was the day to settle the old grudge!

Unfortunately, things didn't seem to be going the way he had hoped...

Tom, who diligently studied every day, was completely powerless against Levid, who spent his days casually reading and then wandering around!

To be precise, his spell couldn't even touch the edge of Levitra's clothes!

And from beginning to end, Levitra didn't even take his wand-holding hand out from behind his back...

In other words, Levitra didn't fight back at all, and he couldn't do anything to him!

He even had the time to point out his movements while dodging the spell!

So, the more Tom attacked, the more frustrated he felt...

"You're too slow! If I attack now, you won't have time to get behind cover."

Levvid's pointed words echoed, nearly shattering Tom's resolve.

"Fight back! You keep nagging me! Are you annoying?" Tom's frustration and resentment turned into an angry roar.

"Alright..." Levvid had barely finished speaking when Tom realized his wand had flown out of his hand.

By the time Tom came to his senses, he was tied up and hanging from a tree...

The expression on Tom's face was a fascinating mix of anger, confusion, and shock...

He hadn't even seen what was happening before he was defeated!

"You...how did you do that..." Tom couldn't help but ask as Levvid slowly approached.

"I told you, you have to cast the spell quickly. If you cast it slowly, your attack won't be a threat at all."

Levvid stood at the foot of the tree, craning his neck to gaze at Tom's miserable form, hanging from the tree.

"You... you've learned silent spells? Is that why your attacks are so fast?" Tom stared at him in shock.

"You're a bit surprised, Tom.

Silent spells aren't the point! When I took you down on the first day we met, did I cast any spells?"

Tom was slightly taken aback by Levide's question.

Before Tom could recover, Levide continued, "Back then, when you took down those two human traffickers in the alley, did you... cast any spells?"

"Why were your attacks so crisp and effective before you learned spells, but after you learned them, they've become so much slower?"

"I hate to say this, but... Tom, you've worked so hard to learn, and instead of improving, you've regressed..."

These words were like a bolt from the blue for Tom.

Before he learned spells, he could cast silent spells effortlessly, but after learning, he couldn't... what else could that be if not regression?

"Why...why is this happening?" Tom couldn't help but continue asking the guy in front of him whom he once hated the most.

Li Weide shook his head and said, "Because before you learned the spell, you didn't think too much when you attacked.

Your thoughts were very pure, and you only wanted to knock the opponent down.

It just fits the nature of magic and the conditions for releasing silent spells..."

"And after you learned the spell, you thought about more things.

Every syllable pause of the spell, every arc of waving the wand, all had to be strictly according to what was written in the book..."

"In this way, your spells are indeed very beautiful, but they lack the purity when you first cast the spell.

Even the power and speed of your attacks have regressed a lot."

Tom said dejectedly, "Is this why you don't read books much and don't study spells much? Is it wrong for me to study spells?"

Li Weide shook his head, "No, Tom. I didn't say studying spells is wrong. In fact, you should continue to study and learn spells."

"And you have to study the spells thoroughly. Only by understanding the basic principles of these spells can you use the spells as you please without being bound by techniques and spell syllables."

"Our previous silent spell attacks were simply an unintentional use of a certain magic.

In fact, if we use silent spells with a full understanding of this magic, you'll find that the power will be much stronger than before."

"As for how much stronger... you just experienced my Disarming Spell, so you should understand."

Tom, hanging from the tree, frowned and fell into deep thought.

After a moment, Tom suddenly asked, "You're telling me all this, aren't you afraid that I'll eventually catch up to you and defeat you?"

Levid's face still maintained a gentle smile.

"It was my mistake to let you have the illusion that you could challenge me.

But you can rest assured, you won't have this illusion again soon."

Tom glared at Levid with a dark face.

He now doubted whether this bastard would really die if he didn't pretend to be awesome!
