Chapter 5 - Chapter 5 - To Fight a Monster, You Must Use a Monster!

"Get away from Eternatus!"

Oleana's face twisted in rage. She couldn't tolerate it—couldn't tolerate this man mocking Rose like that!

"Milotic—Hydro Pump!"

Milotic opened its mouth, gathering powerful water-blue energy into its maw.

Although she was often too busy with work to have much time for training Pokémon, Oleana's strength was undeniably impressive—already approaching the level of an Elite Four member.

"I believe I've already said—don't get in my way," Lucas turned around and gave Oleana a cold glance.

"Tyranitar!"

Tyranitar roared, and a destructive black beam shot forth instantly.

Hyper Beam!

The Hyper Beam and Hydro Pump collided fiercely. But there was no stalemate—Hyper Beam completely overpowered Milotic's Hydro Pump and, to Oleana's horror, continued on its path toward Milotic.

Boom!!

With a thunderous explosion, the powerful shockwave blew Oleana's body into the air, sending her crashing hard onto the ground.

Milotic had already fainted—completely losing the ability to battle.

"Damn it…"

Struggling to support herself, Oleana bit her lip tightly, unwillingly glaring at Lucas.

He was too strong—simply not on the same level as her.

"You'll regret this! We'll never let you go!"

Realizing she couldn't stop Lucas, Oleana spoke through clenched teeth, holding her injured arm.

Damn Team Rocket!

"I don't know why, but everyone is the same when they lose—unwilling, angry, humiliated... What pitiful expressions."

"Well, I suppose it makes sense. That's all weaklings are capable of."

Lucas raised an eyebrow, the corner of his lips still carrying that faint, mocking smile as he turned to look at the fallen Oleana on the ground.

Those once beautiful eyes of hers—what were they like now?

Just as Lucas said, they were filled with unwillingness and rage. He had seen this kind of look countless times over the years.

"You…!" Oleana's expression twisted in fury. Pitiful? Weakling?

She was the Vice President of Macro Cosmos and secretary to the Chairman of the Galar League!

Throughout the entire Galar region, she was a figure of immense power and prestige—a goddess and a perfect role model in the eyes of countless people.

And yet, this villain from Team Rocket had just called her pitiful?

"Losers can only bark in desperation. Weak is weak, strong is strong. If you've lost, then lie down obediently and wait for the victor to step over you."

"Why is such a simple truth so hard to accept?"

Lucas shrugged. He understood that his attitude always attracted hatred and alienation. Even his colleagues—Karen, Will, and once Green and Silver—were no different.

None of them liked Lucas, and they didn't hide their feelings.

It wasn't that they disliked working with him. As a partner, no one was more reliable than Lucas.

What they hated was his personality!

Having grown up together, they knew well that Lucas's pride ran deep—it was something etched into his very bones.

And coupled with his overwhelming natural talent, he had every reason to be proud.

They couldn't beat him in battle or argue with him—he'd just dismiss them as trash or weaklings. What could they do besides avoid him?

But Lucas had never tried to change, because that was just who he was. It wasn't that he couldn't interact with people—he just refused to lower himself to the level of the incompetent.

Especially these mediocre types, who always put on the same angry, unwilling expressions and make bold threats after every defeat.

Frankly, he was getting tired of it.

"You bastard...!"

Oleana clenched her teeth so tightly she nearly cracked them. She wanted nothing more than to rip off her high heels and smash them into Lucas's smug face.

Should the defeated really be trampled on and humiliated like this?

She understood now—this Rocket executive standing before her was absolutely not a good person, nor could he ever become one!

"Just lie there quietly. Your injuries aren't too serious, but if you keep moving, you may not remain unharmed."

"A smart person wouldn't test my patience again and again."

Lucas said casually. After all, Oleana was just a human. And given her usual workload, her physical condition wasn't particularly good.

The impact from Tyranitar's Hyper Beam had slammed her hard. Her arms and legs were covered with injuries of varying degrees. It would be very difficult for her to stand up again anytime soon.

As long as she wasn't brain-dead, Lucas wouldn't strike again. Unless absolutely necessary, he didn't kill recklessly.

Oleana's face alternated between pale and flushed, but her reason ultimately held back her emotions—she didn't push herself further.

"Now then…"

Lucas turned his head and looked at Eternatus, who had completely broken free from its restraints. His eyes swept up and down, closely observing the legendary origin of Dynamax energy.

An unparalleled sense of pressure!

Yes—just by looking at Eternatus, an immense psychological pressure rose within.

In its Eternamax form, Eternatus was the largest known Pokémon—towering at a full hundred meters. Even in its standard form, it was over twenty meters tall.

It resembled a giant skeletal dragon, its body glowing with a faintly dangerous red hue, its bones a deep violet, and its eyes three eerie white spots.

"It's truly an honor to meet you, Eternatus. So then…"

Lucas's lips curled into a satisfied smile. He extended a hand toward the Eternatus that seemed to be sizing him up in return.

A mysterious and invisible force began to ripple outward toward Eternatus.

The Power of the Dragon!

A special ability inherited from the Blackthorn clan. Just as Pokémon had unique variants, humans too possessed unique gifts.

Psychic abilities, Aura, the Power of Viridian, the Power of Bond—these were all rare and unique talents.

Most of these powers didn't have direct combat applications, but they were extremely useful in other ways. For example, the Power of Viridian could allow humans to communicate with Pokémon, increase affection, and even heal them.

The Power of the Dragon was similar—it increased affinity with Dragon-type Pokémon, allowing basic communication between trainer and dragon.

"So you do have rationality. That makes things easier."

Lucas attempted to convey goodwill using the Power of the Dragon and found that Eternatus didn't send back any hostile emotions. His smile deepened.

As long as it retained rationality, they could communicate. That alone was a good start!

"Eternatus hasn't lost control?"

Seeing Eternatus break free of its cage but make no aggressive moves, Oleana furrowed her brows. Especially when Lucas stood right in front of it—Eternatus made no reaction at all.

This only made Oleana feel even more uneasy.

---------------------------------------

Viridian City, Kanto Region. Inside the office of the Viridian Gym.

"Lucas has left Johto? Understood."

"Proceed with the Three Beasts Project. You'll remain in charge—don't disappoint me, Carr."

"As for Lucas, I'm well aware of the situation. Unless something major comes up, don't bother him. You understand what I mean, don't you?"

Sitting in a luxurious leather chair, a middle-aged man in an expensive suit spoke calmly to the monitor before him. His magnetic voice was composed and comforting to the ear.

Once he finished speaking and received acknowledgment, he ended the call. His deep eyes shimmered with thought.

He was none other than the current Viridian Gym Leader, praised as "Giovanni of the Earth"—Giovanni!

To the outside world, Giovanni was a mature and composed Gym Leader, a true expert in Ground-types. He wasn't reclusive, either—he published books sharing his deep knowledge, which gained wide circulation and praise.

His reputation as a master earned him widespread respect across Kanto for his integrity and character.

He was also an incredibly successful entrepreneur, which further elevated his social status.

But what no one could possibly imagine was that this man—who stood at the pinnacle of society—was actually the very source of darkness in Kanto!

The true boss of the evil organization—Team Rocket!

"Boss, is this really okay?"

Giovanni appeared to be lost in thought, but Matori, who had been silently standing by his side, couldn't hold back any longer.

Carr had called to complain about his dissatisfaction with Lucas. It was clear he held strong resentment.

Was this really okay?

"What exactly are you referring to, Matori?"

Giovanni's lips curled slightly. He tapped his finger rhythmically on the table.

"About Lucas…" Matori frowned deeply. As Giovanni's secretary and confidant, she had met Lucas before.

While Lucas's strength was undeniable, his personality...

"Conflict is the best catalyst for evolution. Carr is smart—he may be arrogant, but he knows his limits."

"As for Lucas… Lucas is an incredibly gifted child. Even now, he has yet to reach his limit."

"Yes. A talent like no other."

Giovanni smiled faintly, his deep eyes shining with intrigue. He had seen countless so-called geniuses.

Strictly speaking, Giovanni himself was one of them.

"Matori, people have never been truly equal. Some are simply born extraordinary. That's a gap no amount of effort can close. That's what we call a monster. And monsters… can only be dealt with by other monsters."

Born in Viridian Forest, Giovanni had received the forest's blessings from a young age. He had risen from nothing to where he was today. His true strength was in no way inferior to the strongest elite four of Indigo, Lance!

Just last year, he had also encountered two individuals he could only describe as "monsters."

Geniuses?

Giovanni preferred to call them monsters!

And to fight a monster—only another monster would suffice!

Hearing this, Matori thought of those two monstrous youths from the previous year. She pursed her lips, then cautiously voiced her concern.

"But Boss, if I may speak freely… Lucas will never willingly play second fiddle to anyone, not even with the honor of being named your top executive."

"Besides, his ego is too overwhelming. Even if you've helped him in the past, he's not someone who will serve you wholeheartedly."

Matori's tone held concern. Giovanni clearly favored Lucas's strength—it was undeniable.

Team Rocket was powerful. Its three top executives, four generals, three beast warriors, and other elite members were nearly all Elite Four-level.

Team Rocket's strength could rival that of any region's Pokémon League.

But what it lacked—was a true Champion-level trainer to shoulder the organization's ambitions.

Currently, only Giovanni himself stood at that peak. Lucas's appearance had been an incredible surprise.

"Geniuses are always proud—and his surname is Blackthorn."

Giovanni chuckled softly, his expression calm and composed.

"It's been too long. Living in the shadows is no longer what I want, Matori. No matter what path Lucas chooses in the future—our goals are the same."

Giovanni stood up slowly, swirling the red wine in his glass and taking a sip. The crimson liquid swayed in the cup, reflecting the flickering ambition in his eyes.

Yes, Giovanni was fully aware that Lucas was a volatile element—for both him and Team Rocket.

But compared to the benefits he could bring, that threat wasn't yet urgent. For now, Giovanni needed Lucas as an ally.

Lucas was arrogant, ruthless, and revered the law of the jungle. He was a man of ambition.

That was enough—because someone like him would never walk the same path as the Pokémon League!

"I wonder what kind of harvest Lucas will reap... on his trip to Galar?"

(TN: I just found out that Indigo was just Kanto, I thought it was both Johto and Kanto. And on this one, they're refer to Lance as the champion but last chap he was an elite four so I changed but I might be incorrect. So far, the story is quite exciting, only problem are the names, researching took more time than editing and reading here.)
