Chapter 107 - Chapter 107

The plane landed on the runway and then pulled off to the side quickly. As it did, Rico spotted Gearbox's armored truck in a hangar and pulled inside. As soon as they were inside the door opened as Artemis did he post flight check. Making sure nothing was running or anything like that.

As she did that Coin and Rico began pulling out boxes and other pieces of gear. Gearbox, Sweetie, and T-Dog began loading them into the armored truck. "How much time do we have?" Rico asked as he pushed some gear far into the truck.

"Four minutes. Delaying your arrival notice worked." T-Dog answered. "I would say we made quite the profit out of this excursion."

"Indeed we did. We even found plenty of things for Gearbox to take apart." Rico answered as he walked onto the plane and saw it was almost cleaned out. There were still things to be put in the truck. But there was a single box to be taken out of the plane. The only other things were the two passengers. One who was restrained and looking annoyed and the other who was hugging his bag like his life depended on it.

Rico stepped out of the plane with the last box and moved it into the truck. "Well while you three were away. We kept up our work." T-Dog informed them as he climbed into the truck to start organizing the boxes. "We managed to locate where Doctor Fries' wife is being studied."

Rico nodded as he backed up. Realizing there were enough people able to move the last of the items into the vehicle. "Then have you made a plan or anything else?"

"Yes," T-Dog grinned. "I actually think you will like this. Because we are doing the whole-"

"Explain later. When we are not at risk of being overheard." Rico told him as he stepped back onto the plane and grabbed the professor. "Bring this guy back to our place. We need to give him some money and then send him on his way."

"Understood." Sweetie helped him climb into the back once everything was packed inside. Then she closed the doors and climbed into the front seat with Gearbox. Gearbox waved as he pulled out of the hangar and drove away. A minute later the police pulled into the hangar.

Commissioner Gordon stepped out of his car and walked over with several uniformed officers and a few detectives following behind him. "Ricardo Bell, where is John Ryan?" He asked as he walked up to where Rico was pacing. He was stretching his legs since he had been confined to that tin can for so long.

Rico looked to the plane door just as Artemis escorted John Ryan out. "He is a bit ripe but otherwise in decent condition." Rico informed the commissioner as he walked over. "Send the payment and I do not suppose we get to keep the plane?"

"No." Commissioner Gordon answered. "As it was, I am considering pulling payment because of the stunt you pulled to get into the country with a stolen plane."

"Well, I am sorry. I was trying to be discreet. Someone was trying to kill your guy here." Rico answered with a shrug.

Commissioner Gordon whipped around and glared at Rico as he shrugged. Rico noticed for the first time that the Commissioner's eyes were bloodshot and he had bags under them. Almost like he was dead tired or he was not sleeping. "We will investigate that. Now get your trio out of here. Go take a taxi or something. I have better things to do."

Rico rolled his eyes and nodded his head at a door. Coin and Artemis understood as they walked to the exit of the hangar. John Ryan would unlikely keep his mouth shut about their smuggling. But it was not like they would have proof.

But for now they would just have to get that professor out of their hair. Hopefully even out of the city as fast as possible.

Barbara groaned as she woke up. She brought a hand to her head as she felt the headache from being drugged again. She then leaned up and pulled herself to the edge of her bed before standing up.

"Less than a week." She mumbled as she looked at the clock on the bedside table. That was how long it had taken.

That first day had been the surgery which was painful as the cybernetics were installed. Then after that she had recovered for two days. By the start of the third day she was up and moving around. Her body managed to heal from the surgery at an abnormal rate.

So she spent two days moving around. The first day was just basic movements and walking around. The second day, her fifth day of being held, she managed to do some acrobatics. It was the ultimate stress test and she quickly realized that there was almost no discomfort at all. Instead she felt light but doing a complete roll in the air was a bit too much because she could suddenly feel pain in her back. It stayed for a few hours before it disappeared.

Now she was waking up on the sixth day after being kidnapped in a bed in a room she did not know. As she climbed out of bed she noticed she was not in Gotham. Outside the window was the shining city of Metropolis.

The apartment was not too bad and it was not too good either. She looked around for a moment and after finding nothing she walked out of the room and found her shoes by the front door. She woke up dressed in some clothes but as she walked out she realized that there was no one aware of her being placed here. Mostly because she was put inside of a building that was being torn down. Or rather it was in the process of being torn down.

"I need to find a phone." Barbara decided as she looked around for a way down. It had been long enough that she was sure they were looking for her.
