Chapter 66 - Chapter 66

Rico walked out with a shirt and pants. The guards were glaring at him as he walked out. There were a number of ARGUS officers that were moving around. They were taking over the prison and they had immediately released him on account of him being held illegally and a bunch of other stuff.

As he stepped out he saw his mercenary's new lawyer Dahl. She was standing and talking with a dark skinned woman who was in a pantsuit and looked quite beautiful and attractive. She glanced at Rico as he walked over and then said her goodbyes and walked past Rico and into the prison. "I will be visiting you soon, Mister Bell."

Rico also saw Reporter Lois Lane waiting in an SUV behind her. "Mister Bell, let's not keep Miss Lane waiting. I promised I would give her some exclusive information. So I hope you have something up your sleeve." Dahl pointed out as she walked to the driver side of the SUV.

Rico nodded as he climbed into the backseat. He could hear Miss Lane talking on her phone in the front seat. "Yeah, thanks for telling me. He is supposed to be watching them after picking them up. I will call my husband to see what is going on." Lane answered as she slammed her head back against the passenger car seat head, probably in frustration.

Rico exchanged a look with Dahl who just shrugged. Then she started up the vehicle and pulled away from the parking lot and went onto the main road just as a number of armored ARGUS vehicles pulled off the main road.

"Yeah, I will let you know if anything changes. Thank you for watching them." Miss Lane sighed as she responded before she hung up. "Sorry, my husband was supposed to pick up the kids. But he was a no show."

"Trouble in paradise?" Rico asked, feeling an opportunity to get in Lois' pants coming up.

"Yeah… we have been having more arguments recently and he has been flaky with his agreed tasks." Lois answered as she called another number. She waited a moment and then Rico could pick out the sound of a voicemail box. "Clark, this is Lois. Where are you? You were supposed to pick up our kids from school!" She then hung up and put away her phone.

"I heard you wanted a story? What type of story are you looking for? A story piece or crime piece?" Rico asked as he leaned to the side so they could talk face to face as she leaned over and looked back at him.

"I suppose a story piece. Have you got anything interesting?" Lois asked as she pulled out a notepad.

"Hmmm… I have some info about the Gotham Underground. Turns out it was more than just a hidden slave market." Rico answered with a grin. "It was also an underground market for just about anything illegal. From weapons to stolen art. Just about nothing was off limits."

"Really… is there anything specific that you saw? Some piece of art or type of weapon?" Lois asked as she began writing in her shorthand.

"Plenty, but I feel like this is a longer discussion. Care to join myself and Dahl for dinner?" Rico asked as he glanced at the rearview mirror where he could see Dahl glaring at him for a moment.

Lois seemed to consider it for a moment before nodding. "Give me a few minutes. I have to make some calls." Lois told them as she pulled out her phone. "I have to ask our neighbor to pick up my kids and then see if they can check up on them." Lois answered as she turned back around and pulled out her phone.

They listened for several minutes until Dahl parked outside of the restaurant and they went out. Lois stepped away to complete her call while someone parked Dahl's car. Dahl and Rico went into the restaurant and were seated.

"Why did you invite her out?" Dahl asked as she sat next to him.

"Because I want to bone her." Rico shrugged, glancing at Lois who was finishing her last call outside of the restaurant. "I had a feeling this would be a quick discussion anyways."

Dahl frowned and then nodded, "you are right. I have a job for you. I need some quick and silent manpower. It does not matter if you are caught. In fact it is expected that you will be caught. But it is all above board, you are just acting against one of the Justice Leaguers." Dahl quietly explained.

"Sounds good. But we should wait to discuss specifics until later. I have a feeling I know who the request is coming from. I will head back to Gotham and get my mercs ready." Rico declared as he leaned back.

Lois was walking in as she put away her phone. She smiled a bit too brightly at them as she walked over and sat down. "Sorry about that. It should have only taken a few minutes. But my neighbors found my husband at home. He claims he has been under the weather." Lois sat down and her anger was apparent.

Dahl and Rico exchanged a look and he could see a look of mischievousness on her face. She then looked back at Lois, "you think he was cheating on you?" Dahl asked.

Lois bit her lip and nodded, "he was perfectly fine this morning. He could have… but this is also the man that has not caught a cold in his life and grew up on a farm. So there is a very good chance that he is just lying." Lois sighed and shook her head.

"Then you said your neighbors found him. When they were dropping off your kids no doubt." Dahl pointed out getting a head nod as confirmation from Lois. "Then just ask them if they heard moans coming through the walls or if he actually looked sick."

Lois bit her lip and then nodded before pulling out her phone and sending out a few texts. Then she set it on the table. "Now what?"

"Now we drink wine and help you forget about your worries." Dahl answered as she waved over a waitress.
