Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

"Are we all ready?" Ricky asked as he looked at the group of mercenaries. They gave grunts of confirmation. He did not know their names and he did not care what their names were. But they had all shown up on time. Two of them were the larger bruisers that he had seen. Another three of them were thin guys that were weaker physically but knew techniques and were far more agile. The last four were the standard mercenaries.

"Yeah, when we are going in." One of them asked.

"As soon as we get the signal." Ricky answered as he tossed aside the file. The code tucked inside his pocket. He then moved to the side of the building and began descending the fire escape. "Grab your gear we are going in through the garage."

"None of us brought any vehicles. How are we getting in through there?" One of them asked as they followed him down the fire escape.

"They have patrol cars coming in and going out like clockwork every ten minutes. It has been seven minutes since the last one. First they are going in and then they go out. We hit before they go out." Ricky held up his grenade launcher. "I will use a sleeping gas grenade and then we move in. Do any of you know of gas masks or rebreathers?"

They all began pulling out gas masks as they descended the stairs. When they reached the alley he watched a police cruiser slow down as it came to the entrance of the garage. It started opening which is when he struck.

He fired a flash grenade first, it slammed into a bright light as the cruiser was pulling in. Blinding the officers. While it was going off he was already firing off his sleeping gas grenade while walking towards the garage. The mercenaries were running toward it. As they entered he fired a second sleeping gas grenade.

One of the officers ran out of the garage coughing. He pulled his gun when he noticed the mercenaries and the mercenaries knocked the gun out of his hand and then pointed his gun at the cops head. "Avoid killing if you can. It will leave a bigger impact." Ricky told the mercenaries.

They nodded in response and Ricky walked into the smoke filled garage. He reloaded his grenade launcher and peaked out the door. There was no one in the room next to the garage. He moved further in arriving at the stairs next.

He moved up the stairs quietly. When he arrived at the second floor he peaked out the door. There were a number of detectives and officers present. He then frowned as he noticed Commissioner Gordon was present as well, talking with the Precinct's Captain.

He let the door closed and cursed. He pulled out his remaining sleeping gas grenades. He loaded a flash grenade and fired it into the room. There was screaming and shouting while he quickly reloaded and fired his last three sleeping grenades into the room.

Once he was done he moved up the top floor. "Wait a minute and then go get the keys." Ricky pointed at six of them and then went up the stairs to the third floor. As he walked to the door he loaded a bean bag round.

He triggered the Eagle Vision with a blink. There were four people on this floor. Two of them were walking toward the door. One was near the entrance to the evidence cage. The last was inside the evidence cage.

He blinked his eyes as the Eagle Vision disappeared. He let the grenade launcher hang from his neck and materialized carbon fiber brass knuckles on his hands.

"Then I said-" CRACK! Ricky's fist connected with the first guard's chin. While his other hand grabbed him by the collar and threw him back to the other mercenaries before he could recover.

The other officer's eyes widened while he reached for his sidearm. But Ricky slammed his fist into the officers face and then chest. The officer moved back in a daze. Ricky closed the distance and kicked the officer, sending him flying into the fence behind him. The officer then collapsed on the ground unconscious.

Ricky pulled the grenade launcher up and fired the bean bag round. The other officer who by now realized something was wrong. He pulled out his pistol just as the bean bag hit him in the chest. He fell to the ground grunting in pain.

Ricky walked toward the officer that was rolling on the ground in pain. He looked over at the last officer who was in the evidence cage. As soon as the officer saw him he grabbed a set of keys and ran toward the secure evidence lockup. It was a reinforced box that could not be easily broken into.

Ricky reached the other officer. He picked the office up by the scruff and then punched him in the face. Knocking him out. As Ricky turned around the other mercenaries were shooting off the lock of the evidence cage.

It clattered on the ground. "What are we looking for here?" One of them asked.

Ricky looked around before seeing it in the secure evidence lockup. "We need the key to that room." Ricky told them and then glanced around the evidence room. "But see if you can find anything useful in here while we wait for the others." He told them. He took his own advice and looked through box labels.

He stopped as he found one labeled 'Wrath Case'. His body remembered wrath as the wannabe counter to Batman. Rumor is that Joker killed him when Wrath figured out Batman's secret identity and was threatening to expose it. But from his previous life he knew that Wrath was actually an acquaintance of Batman's alter ego. He also knew that Wrath should have some decent equipment.

He pulled out the box and walked over a table. Tossing aside the top of the box and then flipped it over. A bunch of evidence bags and equipment spilled out. "Woah, what did you find?" One of the mercenaries asked.

"Utility belt with weapons, zip ties, spoke bombs, and something similar to the batarangs. There is also this-" He held up a grappling hook which he put in his jacket pocket. "Grappling hook, a modified taser and a modified taser gun." Then he pulled out some of the more crude equipment that was covered in blood. He tossed them aside. Leaving the utility belt to the side. He just put the grappling hook, and tasers in his bag after he checked them.

"No clue how you would use that stuff." The mercenary pointed out as the evidence cage creaked. The others had come up with the key.

They tossed it to Ricky. He caught it and shuffled it around as he walked up to the secure evidence cage. He opened it up slightly and then stepped back as a bullet ricocheted off the door.

He looked into the room. The last officer was shaking badly as he held his gun. "Y'know if I have to come in there and knock you out it will not be pretty." Ricky warned as he nodded at one of the mercenaries. The mercenary nodded and readied his gun.

"Okay okay!" The officer dropped his gun and raised his hands in the air.

Ricky nodded and swung the door open. He grabbed the officer by his collar and tossed him out of the room. He collapsed on the ground outside and one of the mercenaries hit him in the head with the butt of his rifle. The officer fell unconscious with a groan of pain.

Ricky turned his attention to the armored briefcase. He grabbed it and put it on the table in the secure evidence room. It was locked with a digital keylock. He tapped in the code from memory and the case opened.

He opened it slightly and nodded as he confirmed the contents. He pulled out the device to check for trackers. It beeped as he waved it and he confirmed there were no surveillance or tracking devices. He closed the case and picked it up.

But as he was leaving the secure evidence room. A vent in the evidence room came crashing down. Sliding out of it came one of the robins. If he recalls from memory this is Tim Drake, currently known as Red Robin.

He landed on a table surprising all of them. He immediately threw something toward Ricky. Instead of dodging it, Ricky caught the item. He held it up; it was the robin version of a batarang.

"Woah! He caught it!" Red Robin yelled in surprise before finding himself and kneeing one of the mercenaries in the head.

"Knock him out or injure him. Do not kill him, that will only cause us more problems." Ricky told them as he walked past the mercenaries as they fought Red Robin in hand-to-hand combat. "Then get down to the garage."

Instead of walking to the stairs he walked to the elevator and pressed the button. The elevator was on the first floor so he took the moment to look at the fight between the mercenaries and Red Robin. He was giving the mercenaries the run around. He suddenly dived under a pair of their legs and ran out of the evidence room.

Once outside he spun around and pulled something from his utility belt and chained the cage closed. "Haha!" He bellowed in success.

"You little- Screw this!" One of the mercenaries raised their guns and began firing. Red Robin yelped and ran down the stairs.

Another of the mercenaries fired his shotgun on the lock placed on the evidence cage door. It was obliterated and they walked out of it. "Five of you take the stairs. We are going out through the garage." The elevator dinged and the door opened up.

Inside was another officer who was looking down at his phone. He barely had a chance to look up before he was kicked in the chest and fell to the ground unconscious.
