Chapter 139 - Chapter 139: The Ruthless Pakura

Chapter 139: The Ruthless Pakura

"Captain, we've spotted the Sand ninja's reinforcements ahead," a weary Hyuga Saori suddenly said.

Hearing this, Kyosuke and the others, who were beside her, turned their gaze to Uchiha Ukyo.

Ukyo looked at the Sand ninja unit, which was less than a hundred strong, not far in front of them, and finally, with great reluctance, he waved his hand.

"Whew..." Seeing this, everyone let out a sigh of relief.

Three days had passed since they had routed Pakura's unit. In these three days, Kyosuke and the others had frantically hunted down the enemy, completely routing them.

The once-mighty thousand-man unit, now including the captured, was only about a hundred strong.

It could be said that the interception squad had achieved the most stunning victory since the war began.

Now, the Uchiha could return with their heads held high.

"The Konoha ninja have retreated. Relax," a sensory ninja at the Land of Wind's border said to the battered crowd behind him.

After days of fleeing for their lives, these people were on the verge of a mental breakdown. Hearing their comrade's words, they were stunned for a moment, and then they all burst into tears.

The sensory ninja looked back at his teammates, a hint of confusion in his heart.

"You... which unit are you from? What happened?" he asked a Sand ninja who was still somewhat lucid.

"I... we are from Pakura's unit," the Sand ninja said with difficulty.

"Lord Pakura's unit..." It was clear that he did not know the reason, but that did not stop him from making a deduction.

In fact, there was no need for any deduction. Seeing them being chased like dogs by the Konoha ninja to the border, it was clear what had happened.

He glanced at the crowd with contempt, then asked again, "Then where is Lord Pakura?"

"...Don't mention that coward. She actually..." Just as the Sand ninja was about to tell the truth, a voice suddenly came from the distance.

"I actually did what? Why don't you tell me?"

Along with the cold words, the long-disappeared Pakura, leading a few of her jounin subordinates, slowly walked over.

"You... you..." the Sand ninja pointed at her, his words choked with anger.

"Heh," she sneered. Pakura looked at the angry crowd and suddenly said, "How dare you abandon your commander and collude with Konoha? I, in my capacity as the supreme commander of the Pakura Corps, hereby order that you all be executed on the spot. Immediately."

"Yes, sir," a few of the jounin subordinates replied, then, kunai in hand, began a gruesome slaughter.

Pakura looked at the faces of the crowd, a mixture of anger and disbelief in their dying moments, and couldn't help but cover her face and laugh softly.

"Hehehe, ahahahaha." Screams, curses, and Pakura's sickly laughter filled the border, creating a scene like a scroll from hell.

The few Sand ninja stationed at the border watched this scene, stunned, their mouths slightly agape, but they didn't dare to say a word.

In just a dozen short minutes, the already exhausted Sand ninja unit was completely slaughtered by their own commander.

After quietly admiring the beautiful scene before her, Pakura suddenly turned to look at these few.

"Lo-Lord Pakura," the leader said, his head bowed, his voice trembling with cold sweat.

"Did you hear what I said just now?" Pakura asked in a cold voice.

"Just now... oh, I heard. They... they colluded with Konoha and have been executed on the spot by Lord Pakura," the Sand ninja repeated, very much on the ball.

"Mm," Pakura said with a smile, nodding.

"Whew..." Seeing Pakura's smile, the Sand ninja's heart relaxed slightly.

But Pakura's next words made his whole body feel as if it had been plunged into an ice cellar.

"I've always suspected that these traitors would have someone to meet them, which is why I've been secretly following them," Pakura said, staring at him with a strange expression. "Now it seems that this person is you."

"No, Lord Pakura, I..."

A kunai flashed, cutting off the Sand ninja's panicked explanation.

Taking advantage of the chaos, Pakura's subordinates easily subdued them and killed them on the spot.

After they had finished, a jounin came to Pakura and, trying his best to maintain a respectful expression, asked, "Sir, what should we do next?"

Pakura looked around, nodded with satisfaction, and said, "Now we have a good enough reason for our defeat. It would be even more convincing with a little more blood."

"More blood?" the subordinate asked with a puzzled expression.

Thump! Pakura broke one of his ribs with a single punch, then took out a kunai and plunged it into her own body.

"Just like this."

The interception squad, at this time, did not know that such an "interesting" scene had just occurred behind them. If they had known, the Uchiha would certainly have been willing to stay and watch.

Kyosuke sped forward, glancing at his clansmen.

Although this was a great victory, the Uchiha's casualties were not small.

Besides the seriously injured who had been left behind, the remaining personnel, including the four of them, were now less than thirty.

More than half of them had been killed or injured. Although the casualty ratio was still enough to stun anyone who knew the truth, that was just a number. The Uchiha clan's strength had inevitably declined, and the war was far from over.

"Sigh," Kyosuke sighed silently, then his body swayed slightly.

The two clan shinobi, who had been focused on him, noticed the situation and immediately went forward to support him.

Kyosuke looked up at the two of them with a weak smile, then his head tilted to the side, and he passed out.

For the past few days, Kyosuke had been fighting on overdraft.

The cursed seal, the Body Flicker Technique, the Chidori—each of these put a great strain on his body. But Kyosuke, as if he didn't care at all, had been using these abilities in rotation.

Although Saori, and even Uchiha Ukyo, the captain, had tried to persuade him, they could not dissuade the stubborn Kyosuke.

So now, with his mind relaxed, Kyosuke had passed out from exhaustion.

The reason Kyosuke had been fighting so desperately was naturally to take advantage of this great opportunity to reap a large amount of experience points.

"2,260." This was the experience he had accumulated through his "efforts" over the past few days.

Although he was still a long way from his goal, he had undoubtedly taken a big step forward.

He was confident that in the upcoming head-on battles, his speed of acquiring experience would once again increase.

The day he could truly control his own destiny was not far off.
