Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: Unexpected Experience Points

Chapter 26: Unexpected Experience Points

Looking at the puppet master lying dead on the ground, Kyosuke finally let out a sigh of relief.

With a small burst of chakra, he extinguished the lingering flames on his clothes.

Just as he was about to head back to check on Fugaku, an unexpected system notification made him stop in his tracks.

[Notification: Successfully killed an enemy (Level 47 Puppet Master). Gained 84 experience points.]

After a moment of surprise, Kyosuke was overjoyed.

Killing enemies gives experience points? he thought, running toward Fugaku's battlefield while carefully reading the detailed description.

Through the system's explanation, Kyosuke learned that the experience gained from killing an enemy was equal to the enemy's personal level. This meant that killing a Level 47 puppet master would give him 47 experience points.

However, two conditions could change this ratio.

One was killing an enemy with a lower level than his own. In that case, he wouldn't gain any experience points.

The other was when the killed enemy's level was more than three levels higher than his. For each level of difference, he would gain an additional point of experience.

So, the reason the Level 47 puppet master gave him 84 experience points was because, in addition to the base 47 points, it also included an extra 37 points for the level difference.

Kyosuke was only Level 10, meaning he had jumped a whopping 37 levels to kill his enemy.

Of course, this feat was almost impossible to replicate.

He had only managed to kill an enemy so many levels above him because of a combination of advantages: pre-laid traps, luring away the enemy's main puppet, superior intelligence, and multiple surprise attacks. Only with all these advantages could he achieve such a feat.

So, even though he now knew he could gain experience this way, he would still have to take it slow.

Besides, outside of special periods like the Great Ninja Wars, where would he find so many ninja to kill?

And most importantly, Kyosuke didn't want to become a madman who killed on sight. In his opinion, such a person no longer deserved to be called "human."

Of course, if they were enemies, he would have no psychological burden in killing them.

But where could he find so many enemies...

As he was thinking, an idea suddenly lit up in his mind.

He thought of a good place where there would not only be enough enemies for him to kill, but also some potential extra rewards.

However, he temporarily put that thought aside. There was still a difficult hurdle to overcome.

Clang!

The sound of clashing kunai came from not far ahead.

This meant that Fugaku's battle was not over yet.

Kyosuke cautiously approached the battlefield. At the same time, he invested the 80-plus experience points he had just gained into "Hand Seal Training" and "Chakra Control."

Hand Seal Training: LVL 3 (0/30)

Chakra Control: LVL 4 (0/40)

Instantly, he felt his control over his chakra strengthen considerably.

With a light leap, he landed on a large tree, using a small amount of chakra to firmly attach his feet to it.

It worked, Kyosuke thought with an inward smile. He then turned his attention back to the battle between Fugaku and the others.

After watching for a while, Kyosuke felt a sense of relief.

In terms of the current situation, Fugaku was basically in a stalemate with his opponents. Although he was heavily injured, the two Sand ninja couldn't take him down quickly.

It had to be said, as expected of Itachi and Sasuke's father, his strength was not to be underestimated.

At that moment, a thought occurred to Kyosuke.

In the original story, if Fugaku hadn't surrendered and had instead used his Mangekyo Sharingan to fight Konoha, what would the final outcome have been?

After careful consideration, Kyosuke still believed that the Uchiha's chances of winning were slim.

Admittedly, at that time, Konoha was at its weakest since the village's founding. The Fourth Hokage was dead, the Third was old, and Kakashi, Guy, and the others had not yet reached their peak. With Orochimaru having defected, Tsunade gone, and Jiraiya traveling, the great village of Konoha had almost no Kage-level powerhouses to speak of.

But the Uchiha... were even more useless.

Shisui was dead, Itachi had defected, and besides the well-hidden Fugaku, the rest were a bunch of good-for-nothings. Even if Konoha was weak, Fugaku's single pair of Mangekyo, even if he fought until he went blind, probably wouldn't be enough to kill the endless stream of Chunin and Jounin.

So, if the future Uchiha were really forced down the path of a coup, Kyosuke would have to think carefully.

At that time, would he be able to single-handedly lead his clan out of that abyss?

"Wind Release: Great Breakthrough!"

The leading Sand ninja didn't want to cause such a big commotion, but with two of his subordinates still not having returned, he had a bad feeling and had no choice but to launch a large-scale attack.

After all, fighting an opponent who had already awakened a three-tomoe Sharingan was incredibly frustrating. Not only could he not look directly into his opponent's eyes, but every attack he thought had landed would be successfully dodged at the last moment.

"Let's see you dodge this," the Sand ninja captain said viciously, giving his subordinate a look.

The other Sand ninja nodded and began to secretly form hand seals.

Soon, the fierce wind dissipated. In the now-devastated forest, Fugaku was nowhere to be seen.

Of course, not even Kyosuke, let alone the two Sand ninja, believed that Fugaku would be defeated so easily.

And sure enough, they were right.

A few moments later, Fugaku's heavily injured figure appeared in a pile of ruins in the distance.

Just as Fugaku was about to form hand seals, a figure descending from the sky unexpectedly interrupted him.

This figure was the other Sand ninja who hadn't attacked yet. In his hand, he held a blade made entirely of "wind."

Wind Release: Blade of Wind.

This A-Rank ninjutsu was this Sand ninja's trump card.

He had used the thrust from his comrade's jutsu to silently arrive above Fugaku. The moment Fugaku appeared, he used the counterforce of his own jutsu to launch a direct aerial attack on his enemy.

This tactic was their famous combination. That was why these two had stayed behind to deal with the powerful Fugaku, while letting their other comrades go after the target.

Although the enemy's strength and resilience were somewhat beyond their expectations, they were confident that once this move was used, the enemy would surely not be able to withstand it.

This confidence was born from countless successful battles.
