Taehyung's POV
The notification buzzed, a stark contrast to the thundering in Taehyung's chest. He stared at the screen, heart lodged somewhere in his throat. Jungkook's words were a raw, honest declaration, shattering the fragile pretense Taehyung had clung to. I felt it. I've felt it for a long time. And I don't think I can pretend anymore.
His fingers trembled as he opened the message. There were no pleasantries, no casual greetings. Just the unfiltered truth of Jungkook's heart laid bare. And then, his own reply flashed on the screen, sent without conscious thought, a desperate, undeniable instinct.
Me too, Kook. God, me too. Come back.
The moment he hit send, a wave of dizzying fear washed over him. What had he just done? He had a girlfriend. A life. A future. This was impulsive. Reckless. Insane. Yet, beneath the fear, a scorching ember of exhilaration glowed. He wasn't alone in this intoxicating, terrifying pull. Jungkook felt it too.
Minutes stretched into an eternity. Taehyung paced his living room, the sleek, minimalist space suddenly feeling suffocating. He ran a hand through his hair, his mind a whirlwind of guilt, desire, and pure, unadulterated chaos. He saw Jennie's kind face, her trusting eyes, and a fresh wave of shame hit him. But then he remembered Jungkook's intense gaze in the car, the way his breath had hitched, the desperate longing that mirrored his own.
The doorbell rang, a jarring sound in the quiet apartment. Taehyung froze. He hadn't expected him to come back. Not like this. Not so soon.
He hesitated, then slowly walked to the door. His hand trembled as he reached for the handle, his future hanging in the balance. When he pulled it open, Jungkook stood there, rain-kissed hair slightly dishevelled, eyes wide and vulnerable, a silent question in their depths.
Neither of them spoke. The air thrummed with the unspoken words of their recent messages, with years of longing, and with the electric tension of a line crossed, irrevocably. Taehyung's gaze dropped to Jungkook's lips, remembering the hunger from moments ago. All the guilt, all the fear, momentarily faded. There was only this. Only Jungkook.
He reached out, almost involuntarily, pulling Jungkook inside. The door clicked shut behind them, sealing them in their own private, forbidden world.
