Chapter 16 - Shatter The Spiral

---

— THE CHAMBER Location: Spiral Reflection, Mandate Dream-State | Time: Dislocated

The Spiral Chamber didn't breathe—it contracted.

Its floor, once steady, flexed under Elias's boots. Mandate glyphs warped into unfamiliar symbols, like broken commandments retranslated by a drunk god. The Witness That Unwrites floated silently, its scroll-body twitching as the text on it continued to erase itself.

Milo stood across from it, eyes dimly glowing, hands loose by his side.

Elias tried to speak—but no sound came.

The Chamber didn't allow judgment here anymore. Only observation.

---

— MILO SPEAKS

> "You want me to forget why I'm angry."

The Witness didn't respond with words. It stepped forward. Mirrors appeared mid-air, floating like broken teeth. Each one showed Milo a different moment:

His mother's body under white sheets

The empty hallway when the judge walked away

The night the Mandate lit up inside him, uninvited

> "You want me to believe none of it meant anything."

The Witness nodded.

And Milo smiled.

> "Then let's see how your memory holds up."

He stepped forward. And the Spiral bent.

PART III — RESONANCE COLLAPSE

Glyphfire exploded beneath his feet, a bright blue surge. The mirrors cracked. One by one, they began to shatter inward.

Milo wasn't using the Mandate. He was burning through it.

The Witness twitched. Its body pulsed with static. It reached out to grab Milo's reflection in a nearby shard—but Milo was no longer mirrored.

He was singular.

And singular echoes are volatile.

---

— THE UNMAKING

The walls of the Chamber folded in. Scrolls bled ink that evaporated into screams. The ground fractured into a spiral maze, swallowing Elias, spitting him back out.

Elias finally moved, running toward Milo.

> "You don't understand—it will take you too!"

Milo turned. Eyes glowing white.

> "Then let it."

He slammed his palms together. A pulse of raw echo burst from his chest—not righteous, not wicked, just himself.

The Spiral screamed. The Witness began to collapse in on itself. Scrolls crumpling. Words dying. Language undoing its own grammar.

---

— THE CRACK

One final scream split the space.

The Spiral Chamber cracked. A gash opened across the echo-floor, wide and black and full of things not meant to be seen. The Witness tried to reform—but Milo stepped through it, face-to-face.

> "You're not the only one who can unmake."

And he tore the last scroll from the Witness's chest.

The Chamber exploded. Glass. Glyph. Time.

Everything split.

And Milo fell out of the Spiral.

Back into the waking world. Bleeding. But whole.
