Chapter 23 - 22. Repairs and Celebration

Rian's party, using the materials and tools brought from the Dwarf Kingdom, headed to the Kronex Research Lab to repair the Gnome Kingdom's mechanical soldiers. The lab was filled with the complex sounds of machinery and the bustling movements of Gnomish scientists. Inside, mechanical soldiers in need of repair stood in rows, and various equipment and materials were scattered about in disarray.

Zabonik, the director of the research lab, greeted Rian's party and confirmed that the materials and tools had arrived safely.

Zabonik: "I'm relieved that the materials you brought have arrived on time. If we can repair the mechanical soldiers with these, our defensive power will be greatly enhanced."

Rian confirmed the safe arrival of the materials and began to work on repairing the mechanical soldiers with the lab's scientists. Brunok installed the sturdy components made by Dwarven artisans, meticulously repairing the broken parts of the machines.

Brunok: "These reinforced gears and steel cables won't break easily. It's Dwarven tech, so you can trust it. If we can just solve the problem here, these soldiers will be much stronger than before."

Ria used the power of magic to adjust the magic stones connected to the mechanical soldiers' energy sources. The energy from the magic stones was converted into power for the machines, and Ria stabilized its flow.

Ria: "The energy needs to flow stably. The key is to find the harmony between the machine and the magic. I think just a little more adjustment will do it."

Marielle used her Cleric abilities to diagnose the damaged interiors of the mechanical soldiers and repaired the damaged parts as if she were healing them. Every time Marielle's hands touched them, the machine's components moved minutely, realigning themselves.

Marielle: "Machines are similar to life, after all. Once their connections are set right, they will return to normal. May the divine grace guide them."

Eris sensed the magical energy flowing around the mechanical soldiers and tuned it to harmonize with the machines. Her shamanistic magic sorted out the unstable parts of the machines and balanced their energy.

Eris: "We must smooth the energy flow so that magic and machine do not clash. There, it should stabilize soon."

Rian tested the movements of a mechanical soldier with his greatsword, checking if the repairs were done correctly. His greatsword clashed with the soldier's steel, creating a short electric spark, but the machines soon stabilized.

Rian: "Alright, I think we're almost done. The mechanical soldiers should work properly now."

After the repairs were finished, the lab's scientists and Rian's party activated the mechanical soldiers. At first, they seemed to operate smoothly, but after a moment, a few of the soldiers suddenly began to move erratically. One of them suddenly overheated and went out of control, moving randomly and trying to destroy its surroundings.

Brunok immediately drew his firearm and gave an order to Silverfang.

Brunok: "Silverfang, subdue that thing! We have to stop it before it causes any real trouble!"

Silverfang quickly charged at the mechanical soldier, hindering its movements, and Brunok disabled the overheated machine with a precise shot from his gun. Rian also swung his greatsword, blocking another abnormally moving soldier.

Rian: "Something's wrong. This erratic behavior was unexpected. Eris, check the magical energy of these soldiers."

Eris approached a mechanical soldier and used her magic to investigate its energy flow.

Eris: "The energy flow is unstable. It seems there's a flawed part in the fusion of the magical and mechanical elements. It feels like they still aren't meshing properly..."

Marielle quickly cast a protective barrier, helping the remaining soldiers return to normal. Ria also used her magic to cut off the energy of the overheated soldiers, stabilizing them before they could go berserk.

As the mechanical soldiers stabilized again, the scientists and Rian's party let out a sigh of relief. The repaired soldiers were now functioning normally, but their strange behavior left them with a great mystery.

Zabonik: "There seems to be no problem with the repairs we made. However, we still do not know the reason why these mechanical soldiers suddenly behaved abnormally. We must be cautious."

Brunok let out a deep sigh and put away his firearm.

Brunok: "Still, it's a relief we got it under control without any major issues. But we need to prepare so this doesn't happen again."

Rian's gaze fell, still troubled by the remaining question. He couldn't be sure if the mechanical soldiers' abnormal behavior was a simple error or if there was another problem.

Rian: "There might be a deeper problem. Something we don't know about yet..."

Ria patted her brother's shoulder encouragingly.

Ria: "For now, everyone worked hard. Let's relax for a bit at the celebration. It'll be more helpful for what's to come."

Rian listened to Ria, smiled, and nodded.

Rian: "Yeah, you're right. We all worked hard, so we deserve a short break."

Rian's party headed to a place of celebration to commemorate the completion of the repairs. Gnomish researchers, Dwarven artisans, and key figures of the kingdom were gathered there. They thanked each other for their efforts and pledged their future cooperation.

The banquet hall was decorated with brightly shining lanterns and splendid ornaments. At the center was a giant beer keg, a source of Dwarven pride, and a variety of wines crafted by the Gnomes were lined up. The large wooden tables were laden with sausages, roasted meats, fresh vegetables, and an assortment of breads and cheeses. The clinking of Dwarven beer mugs and Gnomish wine glasses echoed with cheerful laughter.

Brunok downed a mug of Dwarven beer and nodded with a satisfied expression.

Brunok: "Now this is real Dwarven beer! It's been a while since I've been in a place like this. Another round!"

Ria slowly savored the Gnomish wine and nodded.

Ria: "The wine is also quite delicious. So many different flavors are bursting in my mouth. The Gnomes here really have a knack for winemaking."

Marielle smiled as she ate some fresh fruit and roasted meat.

Marielle: "This food is a blessing from the divine. I am grateful that we can all be here, safe and in good company."

Eris took a bite of a Dwarven sausage, her eyes sparkling.

Eris: "This sausage is like a perfect harmony of all its elements. The Dwarves' food has real depth."

Rian, though welcomed at the celebration, tried to push aside the questions that still lingered in a corner of his mind. They still had many problems to solve, but for this moment, they focused on comforting each other for their hard work and recharging for the next stage.

Rian's party hardened their resolve once more, preparing for the next journey to quell the chaos in the Gnome Kingdom. At the celebration, they encouraged each other, knowing that greater challenges awaited. And they resolved to move forward, reaffirming their belief that whatever those challenges were, they could overcome them together.

Episode : The Rematch with Elahar

The chaos in the Gnome Kingdom had subsided for the time being, and Rian and his party were enjoying a brief moment of peace. The repaired mechanical soldiers were functioning properly, aiding in the kingdom's defense, but a sense of unease still lingered in Rian's heart. He couldn't shake the thought that the mechanical soldiers' erratic behavior might have been part of a larger problem, not just a simple technical error.

In the midst of this, a rumor began to circulate that an ancient tower, long since vanished from the space between the Gnome and Dwarf Kingdoms, had reappeared. With it came the story that legendary, powerful equipment was hidden within. Rian thought that if this rumor were true, that equipment could be a great help in solving their current problems.

Rian gathered his companions to discuss the matter.

Rian: "I don't know what's in that tower, but let's take this chance to check it out. If there's powerful gear inside, it'll be a huge help to us."

Ria tilted her head with a cautious attitude.

Ria: "Brother, the tower could be dangerous. Are you sure we're ready?"

Brunok threw his arms wide and laughed.

Brunok: "Risk or no risk, isn't that our job? And if we can get our hands on new gear, it's a no-brainer."

Marielle prayed quietly, seeking divine will.

Marielle: "Though it may be dangerous, if we are together, we can overcome it. The divine will guide us."

Eris also folded her arms, thought for a moment, and then nodded.

Eris: "The tower could be an important clue for us. We might regret it if we miss this chance."

Although his companions' opinions were divided, in the end, they all agreed with Rian's proposal. They resolved to head for the tower. Finally, Rian's party arrived before the ancient tower. It cast a giant shadow, intimidating them, and mystical symbols around it glowed, as if to greet them.

Just then, a figure in a black cloak emerged from the tower's entrance. It was Elahar. The powerful adversary who had once overwhelmed Rian's party and handed them a crushing defeat. Elahar looked at the party and a slight smirk played on his lips.

Elahar: "To think we would meet again like this, Rian. I was intending to check how much you've grown since our last meeting... If you plan on entering this tower, you'd best be prepared. I will see with my own sword if you have the right to dare set foot in this place."

The moment Rian saw Elahar, his grip tightened. The memory of his defeat surfaced, and anger blazed in his chest.

Rian: "Elahar… It's not going to go your way this time. We need the power in that tower. And I don't think you're going to be able to stop us."

Elahar smiled and drew his sword. The sharp blade glinted in the sunlight.

Elahar: "The power of this tower is no mere treasure to be taken. Ancient power can only be possessed by one who has proven themselves worthy. I expect you to show me if you have that worth. It would be truly dull if you only disappoint me like last time."

Rian's eyes were filled with resolve. He drew his greatsword and faced Elahar. In his heart, the decision to win this time, no matter what, was hardening.

Rian: "No matter how strong you are, it'll be different this time. We will not back down!"

Ria stood by her brother's side, clasping her hands to lend him strength.

Ria: "Brother, we've gotten stronger. Even Elahar can't stop us."

Brunok stroked Silverfang's head as they prepared for battle.

Brunok: "The time has come to show him what we've got. You ready, Silverfang?"

Marielle prepared her defensive magic and said to her companions.

Marielle: "The divine will protect us. Everyone, focus!"

Eris whispered a shamanistic spell, completing her battle preparations.

Eris: "No matter how strong Elahar is, we can surpass him with the coordinated attacks we've practiced."

Elahar, still wearing a composed smile, aimed his sword at the party.

Elahar: "Very well, Rian. I will see for myself how much you've grown. But the power of this tower will not be as easy to handle as you think. My sword will teach you that, so do not disappoint me."

Rian ignored Elahar's words, raised his greatsword high, and advanced. Behind him, his companions prepared to fight Elahar in concert. Rian's party was filled with cooperation and resolve, and this time, they would surely surpass Elahar.

The second duel between Elahar and Rian's party was about to begin. No one could know who would be victorious in this fight, but Rian was certain of one thing. This time, he would win. As long as he was with his companions, they could overcome any challenge.
