Chapter 34 - BOOK OF MYSTRIES

The sky was painted in a dark crimson hue, as though reflecting the blood that was about to be spilled on the battlefield. Black clouds loomed above like the watchful eyes of unseen gods, swirling ominously in a suffocating spiral. The very air was heavy, saturated with the thick tension of an impending massacre. On the ground, the forces of the Soul Spider Kingdom stood in formation—lines of soldiers with armor crafted from spectral silk, their weapons gleaming with a ghostly glow. Yet, despite their organized stance, an air of palpable fear crackled in their breaths.

Across the barren plains, the Python Kingdom's army towered like an unstoppable tide of serpentine beasts. Their scales glistened with malice, fangs bared in wicked hunger. Roars and hisses echoed across the field, blending into a chorus of impending doom. Among them stood Diran, the Python King, his colossal figure radiating a murderous intent that weighed down the entire battlefield.

Aarav's fists clenched as he stood beside Sina, his wife, his queen, who held a stoic expression upon her face. But he could see through it. Her trembling fingers, the subtle tremor in her breath—she was hiding her despair. The forces were unmatched. The Soul Spider Kingdom, built upon the slow nurturing of souls through essence, could never hope to rival the brute devouring might of the Python Kingdom, who grew by consuming and annihilating without mercy.

"Sina! Form up the third line! Don't let them break through!" a general shouted from the rear, voice cracked with desperation.

But Sina wasn't listening to the battlefield now. She grabbed Aarav's arm tightly and whispered, "Come, Aarav. Walk with me. We need to plan our strategy." Her tone was urgent, yet soft. Her grip was gentle, yet firm. He could feel the subtle trembling in her touch.

She led him away from the frontline, their footsteps muffled by the deafening noise of war drums pounding in the background.

Dum. Dum. Dum. Dum.

The sound of war. A ruthless rhythm that resonated deep into their bones, signaling not strategy but inevitable slaughter.

Once they reached a small clearing behind a broken temple wall, Sina's facade of composure shattered like fragile glass. She turned to him, her eyes glistening with unshed tears.

"My dear... Aarav, please. You must run away." Her voice cracked, filled with an emotion that pierced through the cacophony of the battlefield like a sharp arrow. "We cannot win this war. There's no chance of survival if you stay."

Aarav frowned, his heart sinking. "What are you saying? Why? Why are you telling me to leave you? I don't want to leave you, Sina."

Sina bit her lip, glancing over her shoulder at the distant frontlines where their soldiers clashed against the overwhelming force of the python army. The spider soldiers fought valiantly, but it was clear who was stronger. Each clash sent their soldiers flying, each hiss of the enemy sent shivers down their spines. The enemy was relentless, their bodies bulkier, their fangs longer, their killing intent suffocating.

"I can't explain everything right now," Sina whispered, urgency pressing her words. "Just know this, Aarav—the Python Kingdom is not something we can handle. Their power... it's beyond what you or I can imagine. Their strength doesn't come from patience like ours. They grow by devouring souls, growing stronger with every life they consume. We... we spiders gather soul essence slowly. We evolve over time, carefully, methodically. But they— they are predators."

Aarav clenched his fists, his jaw tight. "But... but we can't just give up. There has to be a way—"

"No buts, Aarav." Sina's tone turned sharp, yet her eyes softened as she reached out and cupped his cheek. "You need to live. You must escape. We don't have much time. If you stay, they'll kill you, and I... I will lose you forever."

Aarav's heart wrenched. How could fate be so cruel? Even in death, even in this strange afterlife, now that he had finally found someone—a soulmate who accepted him, loved him, and gave him purpose—fate wanted to take her away from him. How could he run away, leaving her behind to face the oncoming storm alone? His thoughts twisted into a hurricane of helplessness.

He shook his head, fiercely, stubbornly. "No. I won't. If death comes, or even worse, I will still stay beside you. I'll face it with you. I won't leave you alone."

Sina's composure finally cracked. Tears spilled down her cheeks as she lunged forward, embracing him tightly. Her body trembled against his. "Aarav... Aarav... you fool. I love you. I love you so much... but you must live. Even if I have to push you away, you must live."

As she wept into his chest, the ground beneath them shook with every war drum beat. The frontline was collapsing, the walls of their defenses shattering. The sky darkened further, a blood-red mist descending upon the battlefield as if the heavens were mourning what was to come.

From within her robe, Sina pulled out a small, glowing white marble. Its surface was etched with ancient runes that pulsed like a heartbeat.

The moment it appeared, time seemed to stutter.

Everything around them froze.

The war drums stopped mid-beat. Soldiers halted mid-strike. The very air became thick and solid, as though reality itself had paused to witness this moment.

Aarav blinked in disbelief as his ring began to glow. "So... you've evolved into a soul weapon?" he muttered, feeling a strange connection forming in his soul.

Before his eyes, a surreal phenomenon unfolded. The air shimmered, and from a swirl of black-and-white sand, a figure slowly materialized in front of him. Descending gracefully from the sky, she was a breathtaking woman draped in a flowing pink kimono, the fabric adorned with intricate patterns of crimson ink that seemed alive, shifting with every movement. Her hair cascaded like a silken waterfall, her face adorned with a gentle smile that held countless stories within it.

She floated downwards, her feet lightly touching the ground as if gravity held no dominion over her. Her presence was ethereal, a mix of grace and eerie divinity.

"My name is ———@-&*&^5—" her voice came out distorted, glitched, as though reality struggled to process her true name.

Aarav flinched. "Ha? What?"

The woman giggled softly, covering her mouth with slender fingers. "Ara~ Ara~ It seems you're not qualified to hear my full name yet, Master. But you can call me Rani."

The moment she said her name, a ripple spread across the frozen reality. Aarav could feel it in his bones—this was no ordinary artifact. This was a living weapon. A soul-bound companion who had transcended beyond mere tools of war.
