Chapter 2 - Rebirth

Jason awoke with a start in his own bedroom, drenched in sweat.

"What happened?" he gasped, looking around. "This is… my bedroom. But didn't I die?"

> [System: Yes, you did.]

He glanced at his phone. The display read November 24, 2030.

"So it wasn't a dream."

> [System: Congratulations. You qualify to use the Conversion Specialist System.]

Jason narrowed his eyes. "Explain."

> [System: I am a program created by the Supreme Demonic Deity. I was meant to be transferred to the one who killed him, so that person would inherit his power.]

Jason frowned. "That deity… it's the same bastard, the one I met in the dungeon."

> [System: More or less.]

Jason looked at the screen. "What can you do."

>[Everything in your world can be converted into points. I can then use those points to alter reality, acquire powers, summon gear, or even forge entire false identities for you. As long as it is in the limit of your imagination.]

>[Of course, Getting the things needed for conversion is all up to you. And everything has a different price.]

"Cool." Jason sat up. "My party might try to claim my house. System, exchange my house for points."

> [System: Yes.]

"Do it."

> [System: Exchange complete. Net worth: 100,000 pts.]

Jason smirked. "Perfect."

His house vanished, leaving an empty spot in the place it was before.

"What's the exchange rate?"

> [System: 1 pt → $5.]

Jason calculated. "My house was only $500,000… I want better."

"My account's been seized. Exchange 4,000 pts for cash."

> [System: Done. You have 96,000 pts remaining.]

Jason grinned. "Let's see… apartment and a limousine." His smile faded.

A black limousine pulled up.

"Jason? Is that you?" called a familiar voice.

Jason pulled his hoodie over his head. "Not Olivia. Not now."

The Olivia in question was a beautiful girl with twilight black hair and ruby red eyes, she wore a long white kimono to cover her body.

She ran up. "I heard you died in the dungeon your party cleared! That's the reason why I quit long ago and told you to leave them too."

Jason walked past without a word.

"If you need to talk… I'm here," Olivia said softly.

Jason didn't pause. "I want to avoid trouble."

> [System: Exchanging pts for Ultra Identity Mask – S‑rank. 50,000 pts will be deducted.]

Jason's grin faded. "Worth it."

> [System: 50,000 pts deducted. You have 46,000 pts remaining.]

He tapped the prompt. "Equip mask."

A white mask with golden lines and glowing red eyes materialized, then vanished and reappeared on his face with a faint shimmer. A red mark glowed on his hand.

"I don't feel different," he muttered.

> [System: No refunds.]

Jason sighed. "From now on, my name's Mars Scott."

He stood taller. "Time to register with the Predatorial Organization."

He was ready.

AN: He was reborn the next day.
